Why we limit submissions for free users on Releasebot

If you're here, you're probably wondering why Releasebot limits free users to five submissions. There are four reasons:

1. We review every submission manually

Releasebot uses a fair amount of AI technology to process the release note sources in our catalog, but we still review every source submission manually to ensure our data quality stays as high as possible. This takes time, and time is money. Your Pro subscription helps cover it.

2. Costs are higher for submitted sources

If you're submitting a source that no one else follows yet, Releasebot incurs costs to keep an eye on that source just for you. As a bootsrapped project, Releasebot can only take on so much cost for its free users.

3. To prevent abuse

Unfortunately, Releasebot's submit form has been subject to misuse by bad actors. The Releasebot Pro payment acts as a gate to encourage responsible use.

4. We think that users who have submitted five sources are receiving sufficient value to consider a paid subscription

A user that has submitted five sources to Releasebot should be saving at least 20 minutes per week by not having to check in on all of those release note sources manually. Releasebot Pro costs less than $1/week, so five submissions is a threshold at which we feel comfortable asking you for for payment to continue taking incremental value from our service.

We value your submissions very much. If you would like to apply for an exception to this policy, please reach out to us at [email protected]
