New release of the Kagi Translation Extension: 0.1.9 (alpha18)

What's New

New

• Read aloud (alpha) for selected text, full pages, and read-from-here, with a mini player
• Auto-proofread (alpha) for editable fields while typing
• LinkedIn post menu translation
• Bluesky integration on third-party appviews (blacksky.community, mu.social) and social-app forks
• Integration icon styles: presets, per-integration overrides, custom CSS
• Animated feature scenes in onboarding and the options General tab
• Context-menu translate/define/proofread work inside iframes; Translate is first in the page menu
• In-page toast matches the web app's card, themed for dark pages, announced to screen readers

Access and sign-in

• Clear no-access messaging on every surface with a link to the docs, instead of silent failures
• Page translation stops on account-level errors instead of retrying every batch
• Manual session tokens are honored on desktop browsers; status pill, settings, and integrations now agree
• A saved manual session token is tried when the kagi.com cookie is stale or rejected
• Settings manual-session card verifies the token and shows an accurate state
• Clearer error when the service is unreachable

Page translation

• Dynamically inserted text keeps translating; SPA page titles stay current
• Failures are surfaced instead of a false "translated" checkmark
• Identical requests restart and superseded runs are aborted; view mode is restored on startup
• Dynamic table subtrees keep their structure
• Much less startup work per page, features load on demand, and DOM extraction yields to the page

Sites

• Email: Fastmail and ProtonMail translation scoped to the selected message; Fastmail thread subject kept; partial failures flagged
• YouTube: "Translate with Kagi" back in the Subtitles/CC menu; subtitle lifecycle fixes; no fake success on original-language text
• X/Twitter: aware of native auto-translation; orphaned translations removed only when new tweets load
• Discord and Twitch: one notice instead of endless failing requests without access; menu style and audio leaks fixed
• Reddit: no full-page shadow walks
• Custom integrations: error display can't be suppressed for account failures

Fixes

• Overlay portals stay in their own shadow root and in sync with the overlay; empty error box fixed
• Language selector labels render as text, show on cold caches, and update when names load
• The floating selection button is now on for everyone who never changed its setting
• Proofread explanations use the UI locale; missing locale strings generated
• Touch-capable desktops are no longer treated as mobile
• Firefox audio downloads supported
• Hardened how translated content and cross-frame messages are handled
