Microsoft Scout Updates & Release Notes

Microsoft Scout (Frontier) is an early, experimental experience. This desktop AI app helps you get work done across your local files, browser, and Microsoft 365 surfaces while keeping sensitive actions under your control.

Microsoft Scout (Frontier) combines a conversational interface with controlled access to files, Microsoft 365, browser automation, and optional developer tools so users can complete everyday work tasks from a single experience. Use Microsoft Scout (Frontier) to proactively identify ways to take work off your plate. Configure habits and skills, and watch it flag potential issues and identify ways to keep work moving. In addition, use it to prepare for meetings, automate workflows, and perform browser-based tasks. Microsoft Scout (Frontier) supports user approval before external-facing actions such as sending email, posting Teams messages, updating calendar events, or running privileged operations.

This release covers changes from version 0.23.331 through 0.23.578.

When updating to this version, Windows may show an error after the update completes. You can safely dismiss it and continue using Scout normally. This should happen only once. Scout can now retrieve Teams meeting transcripts, find and book meeting rooms, work with SharePoint Lists, manage Outlook inbox rules, and create meeting drafts for review. It also understands pasted OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams links, can check who has access to a file, and can grant view or edit access. A redesigned permissions experience makes approvals and ongoing access easier to understand and manage.

Co-Create workspaces can now be stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, keeping files where your team already works. Scout can create a dedicated workspace folder, supports wiki-style links and embedded images in Markdown, reveals nested cloud files correctly, and lets you paste screenshots directly into workspace chat. Chat now supports Ctrl/Cmd+F conversation search, queued follow-up instructions with Ctrl/Cmd+Enter, questions with multiple selections, preserved attachments when switching conversations, and live progress for long-running actions. Automations also support more flexible monthly, quarterly, ordinal, and advanced recurring schedules, including requests such as “the last Friday of every month.”

Claude Sonnet 5 and Claude Opus 4.8 are now easier to find, and GitHub Enterprise Cloud sign-in is available directly from the sign-in screen. Skills installed through Agency appear automatically, skill editing is clearer, and custom remote servers can be edited with securely stored custom headers. Mini mode can now be repositioned and restored. This release also improves Windows upgrades, sign-in, OneDrive synchronization, session restoration, workspace file handling, automation scheduling, chat behavior, visual consistency, and accessibility throughout Scout.
