The 26.10.3 release of QOwnNotes for Nextcloud adds more editor actions to the web interface

• Link dialog with web page title fetching and a searchable Link to note tab, inserting relative note links compatible with QOwnNotes Desktop (Ctrl+L, or Ctrl+Shift+L for note links)
• Insert inline code or fenced code blocks, including wrapping selected text (Ctrl+Shift+C)
• Toggle checkbox list formatting on the current line or selected lines, preserving list markers and indentation (Alt+L)
• These actions are also available in the note's "…" menu; use Cmd instead of Ctrl on macOS
• Fixed saved task list selections being cleared when accepting settings without changes (for #3798)

• just build / just nix-build now select the KDE variant on Linux; plain Qt6 and macOS builds remain available without KDE dependencies
• KDE builds initialize KCrash for GUI startup, with DrKonqi support when the reporter and system crash-reporting setup are available
• KDE builds use native Plasma global shortcuts when its service is available, preserving Plasma-side changes and retaining the portal/QHotkey backends on other desktops
• All actions are offered in the Plasma shortcut settings, so global shortcuts can also be assigned there, and they are shown with their menu path (e.g. Note → New note)
• KDE builds send desktop notifications that can be configured in Plasma's notification settings, e.g. when the current note was modified externally while QOwnNotes was in the background
• KDE builds use the PlasmaActivities library for the KDE Plasma activity integration, so activities are loaded without blocking, while older activity managers and other desktops keep using the existing implementation
• KDE builds can use an installed KDE color scheme for the user interface, which can be selected in the Interface settings, while the system palette stays the default
• When QOwnNotes is started again while it is already running, or by a global shortcut of the desktop portal, its window is now raised with the activation token of the launch on Wayland, and with the startup notification ID on X11 in KDE builds
• KDE builds can send note files to installed targets like KDE Connect or email with the new Send note to menus in the Note menu and the note list context menu
• Notes of a running QOwnNotes can be found in KDE Plasma's KRunner search by their name or text, without showing note text, if the KRunner plugin file is installed, which KDE builds do
• Added a new scripting command script.showNotification() to show a desktop notification, falling back to the system tray or the status bar (for #3796)

Migrated the Snap Store edge build from the legacy Qt5/core22 recipe to Qt6/core26, so it also includes the desktop portal file chooser, real home directory, and Wayland fixes (for #3791)

Fixed missing toolbar and other SVG icons in Qt6 Snaps by bundling the separately packaged SVG image and icon engine plugins, with packaging checks to ensure both are included

Fixed the token for the QOwnNotes web application sometimes being replaced with a new one at application start, which caused other connected devices to go out of sync (for #3792)

If the token can't be read from the keychain (e.g. because it is still locked, not yet available or timed out), the stored token is now kept and the connection is retried later

The browser extension, MCP server and bookmark suggestion API tokens are also no longer replaced if they can't be read from the keychain

The first release of QOwnNotes for Nextcloud

v26.10.1, is now available in the Nextcloud App Store (for #3793)

• View and edit the notes of your note folder in the Nextcloud web interface, including note subfolders and the tags of the note folder's notes.sqlite, which are shared with QOwnNotes Desktop and Android
• Markdown editor with syntax highlighting, search and replace, task toggling, note links and an optional live preview that scrolls together with the editor

The GitHub Actions branch builds now provide downloadable Qt6 AppImage, macOS DMG and Windows ZIP artifacts for testing, in addition to the Qt6 Snap

Every color mode can now have its own accent color in the Color modes settings, which is used for selected text and selected items, like the current note in the note list
(for #2647)

In dark mode it replaces the default orange accent color

The accent color of a color mode is also returned by script.getColorModes()

The Qt6 Snap now runs natively on Wayland when used in a Wayland session, under X11 it still uses X11 (for #3777)

Set the environment variable QOWNNOTES_SNAP_FORCE_X11=1 to force X11 (XWayland)

The Snap is now based on core26 (Ubuntu 26.04) with Qt 6.10

On Linux, QOwnNotes can now switch to a note folder and/or a layout when a certain KDE Plasma activity gets activated, and also when it starts in that activity (for #3767)

On Windows, the Font rendering interface setting is no longer reset to Automatic
when the settings dialog is closed (for #3757)

On Windows, italic text in fonts without a real italic face, like Tahoma, is now also
rendered without font smoothing when Windows font smoothing is disabled
(for #3757)

If the setting to ask for a note name when creating a new note with Ctrl + N is enabled,
the dialog is now prefilled with the default note name including the current date and time,
which is selected so it can be overwritten right away, and the setting and dialog now talk
about a note name instead of a headline (for #3765)

The Secure password storage dialog doesn't show up on every start anymore if there is no
system keychain, like GNOME Keyring or KWallet, available on Linux; in that case passwords
and API keys stay in the legacy storage (for #3766)

A new opt-in setting Ignore accents in search in the Panels settings lets searches without accented letters also find text with accented letters, for example avion also finds Avión (for #3128)

It works for the note search, including the highlighting in the note editor and preview, and for the filters of the tag, note subfolder and navigation panels

Searches with accented letters still only find exact matches, so schön doesn't find schon

Only Latin letters are affected, characters of other scripts are always matched exactly

The scripting methods script.fetchNoteIdsByNoteTextPart and script.searchTagsByName got a new optional ignoreAccents parameter

The scripting documentation now explains how to format dates and times with Qt.formatDateTime and the scripting examples use it instead of formatting dates by hand
