OmniFocus 4.8.9 for All Platforms

OmniFocus 4.8.9 is a minor update focused on bug fixes.

All Platforms

• Flagged — Fixed buggy view filtering in Flagged perspective; Flagged now reliably displays correct items in outline across all platforms.
• Omni Automation — Multiple mutually exclusive tags can no longer be assigned to an item via Omni Automation.
• Sidebar — Perspectives showing remaining items now only show tags in the sidebar for those visible items, rather than also including tags from dropped items.
• Stability — Fixed a crash in the OmniFocus widget.

Navigation Bar — Fixed a bug that could cause Navigation Bar expansion state to get stuck.

Navigation Bar — Improved Navigation Bar layout on smaller iPhones.

Navigation Bar — Navigation Bar no longer animates unexpectedly when navigating to or from Review perspective.

Navigation Bar — Fixed a slight jitter that could happen when the Navigation Bar expands while scrolling on iOS 26.

Outline — Fixed a bug that could cause outline scroll position to jump unexpectedly when navigating between outline and Inspector.

Perspective Title — Fixed some bugs with the appearance of the perspective title when switching between the outline and sidebar.

Toolbar — Addressed unexpected toolbar button animation and tint.

Quick Entry — Improved initial character input reliability.

Stability — Fixed a crash that could occur when dismissing Quick Open.

Menus — Updated Edit menu.

Perspectives Bar — Adjusted selection highlight.

Forecast

• “In Forecast, include: Items on planned date” View Option is now available.
• Addressed unexpected behavior and option display in View Options.
• Popover menu no longer dismisses unexpectedly when selecting “In Forecast, include: Items tagged:” View Option.

Settings

• Renamed “Preferences” as “Settings” for consistency with native OmniFocus apps.

Keyboard

• Restored support for Add Inside/Add Outside keyboard shortcuts.

Notes

• Improved reliability of 'keyboard shortcut.

Outline

• New items are no longer created in unexpected locations after navigating via arrow keys.
• Creating a new item no longer breaks arrow key navigation.
• Restored support for creating an action group via drag and drop.
• Fixed a bug that could cause drop targets to shift unexpectedly.
• Restored ability to create action groups via drag and drop.

Quick Open

• Quick Open results can now be opened via cursor.

View Options

• Fixed a bug that could cause interacting with View Options to trigger a crash.
• Increased size of Availability setting click targets.
