Bulk styling

You can customize all series, dimensions, or metrics at once, or select an individual item to style it separately. Styles that you set for an individual item override styles that you set for all items.

Connect to PostgreSQL (Private IP)

You can connect Data Studio to PostgreSQL databases on Cloud SQL by using a private IP address. Private IP connections keep your database traffic on a private network instead of the public internet.

Deprecated

MySQL 5.6 and 5.7 deprecation

Support for MySQL 5.6 and 5.7 in the MySQL connector is ending:

• Creating new data sources that connect to MySQL 5.6 or 5.7 won't be possible after February 26, 2027.
• Data sources or reports that use MySQL 5.6 or 5.7 might not properly load data after February 26, 2027.

Fullscreen charts

You can view individual charts in fullscreen mode. Click the fullscreen button in the chart header to expand the chart. This feature is not available for scorecards and gauge charts.

Rotate components

You can rotate text boxes, images, and shapes in Data Studio. Report creators can rotate these components on a non-responsive canvas and can reset the rotation to 0 degrees.

Center labels on stacked bar charts

You can position labels in the center of stacked bar charts. If insufficient space is available to center the label within the bar, the label is displayed outside the bar.

Conversational Analytics is generally available

Conversational Analytics in Data Studio is now generally available. You can now filter your data agents by the Google Cloud project to which they belong. Agents that require additional permissions are now displayed with an Unavailable label.

Email notifications when sharing Conversational Analytics data agents

When you share data agents that were created in BigQuery with Data Studio users, you can opt to send an email to notify those users of their access to the agent.

Pro feature: Security and compliance enhancements

The following features are now available to help you meet your organization's security and compliance needs. These features are only available for Data Studio Pro.

• Customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK): Use your own cryptographic keys to protect Data Studio Pro assets.
• Customer-managed storage: Store your file uploads in your own Cloud Storage bucket and your data extracts in your own BigQuery dataset.
• Data residency: Keep your data physically within a geographical area.

Improved chart configuration for series limits and grouping

For Area, Bar, Column, Line, Combo, Pie, Time Series, and Treemap charts, configuration settings for limiting the number of series displayed have moved from the Style tab to a new Display section in the Setup tab of the Properties panel. This new Display section lets you configure Top N or Bottom N series to display and includes the option to aggregate remaining results into a single category. This feature was formerly called "Group others" and is now labeled Group the rest as "Others".

Ads Location Extension fields deprecation

The following location extension fields in the Google Ads and New Search Ads 360 connectors are deprecated and will stop serving data on May 4, 2026:

• Affiliate location address line 1
• Affiliate location address line 2
• Affiliate location business name
• Affiliate location city
• Affiliate location country code
• Affiliate location phone number
• Affiliate location postal code
• Affiliate location province
• Store location address line 1
• Store location address line 2
• Store location business name
• Store location city
• Store location country code
• Store location phone number
• Store location postal code
• Store location province

Reports that use these fields will return an error. To avoid disruption, you must update your reports and data sources to use the corresponding Asset location fields:

• "Asset location phone number"
• "Asset location postal code"
• "Asset location province"

We've rebranded Looker Studio as Data Studio. We've also updated the home page to give you a single place to access your Data Studio reports and data sources, BigQuery conversational agents, and data apps built in Colab notebooks. For more information, see our blog.

Available in preview, you can create data agents in BigQuery and then publish them automatically to Data Studio for use with Conversational Analytics.

A new Conversational Analytics experience

Available in preview, Conversational Analytics offers a new experience with the following changes:

• Conversational Analytics is now available to all Data Studio users.
• Conversational Analytics no longer requires that Gemini in Data Studio (formerly, Gemini in Looker) is enabled.
• You can consume data agents that were created in BigQuery, but can no longer create data agents directly in Data Studio.

To access your past conversations and data agents, you can switch back to the legacy view of Conversational Analytics as needed.

Pro feature: Manage sharing policy for assets in team workspaces

In Looker Studio Pro team workspaces, assets such as reports and data sources might not have an individual owner. This can make it difficult to manage sharing permissions for those assets, especially if the person who created the asset leaves your organization.

If an asset is located in a team workspace or folder, a Policy User may be designated for that asset. Looker Studio uses the Policy User's account to determine which organizational sharing policies apply.

You can now export a chart to an image by saving it as a PNG file or by copying it to your clipboard.
