Sure, the last few months have been packed with new releases, with podcasts, Community, Copilot, and more. But we haven’t forgotten what made beehiiv a best-in-class newsletter platform in the first place.

Today, we’re rolling out a new batch of updates built around our core newsletter capabilities:

Let’s dive in…

Clicks are one of the strongest signals of subscriber intent. Now, you can trigger an automation the moment someone clicks a specific link.

With Click Triggers, you can easily launch a follow-up sequence, tag high-intent readers, or kick off a sales flow, all based on real engagement signals from your readers.

Getting started is simple:

1. Create a new automation
2. Select the “Clicked a link” trigger
3. Add the specific URL (either exact match, or “starts with”)

You can even build your automation around a specific post, automation, or email.

I’ve used this exact trigger to drive thousands of dollars in sales. Here’s how:

First, I created The Newsletter Playbook for Founders. It’s the exact playbook I used to scale Morning Brew to 4M subscribers and my personal newsletter to a six-figure side project.

By the way, that digital product was built directly on beehiiv, using the same tools available to every publisher on our platform. And unlike our competitors, we never take a cent of what you earn 😉.

After building the playbook, I promoted it in a recent edition of my newsletter. The link got thousands of clicks, but only a few hundred people purchased.

But thanks to the new click trigger, I was able to reach out directly to every person who clicked. I waited 24 hours to check whether or not they purchased the playbook, and those who didn’t got a personalized follow-up reminder from me. This drove hundreds more sales.

Custom Group Deals

Group Subscriptions let you sell access to entire teams, companies, and organizations. Toggle it on for any paid plan or tier, and the group purchase option will instantly appear at checkout.

Today, we’re introducing Custom Group Deals, giving you more flexibility to create tailored packages for your biggest customers.

Instead of offering the same group subscription to everyone, each deal can have its own pricing, seat limit, and payment terms (credit card, invoice, or off-platform).

Let’s say your standard subscription costs $10/month per seat, but you want to offer the wonderful employees at beehiiv a special group rate of $5/month per seat.

Just head to Subscriptions → Tiers → Group Subscriptions, then select the option to create a custom group. From there, fill in the relevant deal details (feel free to make me the primary billing contact).

Once the deal is created, you can send the primary admin a link to complete payment. In this example, that’s me.

While the primary admin (me) can invite employees to join the group subscription, you can also manage members on your customer’s behalf. This gives you the flexibility to offer a more hands-on, concierge experience for your highest-value customers.

In short: group subscriptions on beehiiv are now more powerful and flexible than ever.

Send API now on the Max Plan 👀

The Send API lets you create and send posts programmatically from your own CMS, internal tools, the command line, or wherever else you work.

Previously, the Send API was only available to Enterprise customers. Today, we’re extending access to users on our Max plan as well.

But we’re doing more than just expanding access—we’re also adding several powerful new capabilities:

• Preview. Each API call now returns a preview URL with an exact rendering of the email, so you can send with confidence.
• Instant validation. We’ve added additional validation for common mistakes, so you get instant feedback instead of waiting around for async failures.
• Audience confirmation. Post responses now include the full recipient list and total count, so you can verify your audience before and after sending.
• Improved developer documentation. We’ve made it easier to find what you need, get started, and start sending faster 🫡.

Random Cohort Sending

Random Cohort Sends allow you to send to a randomized slice of your audience, then exclude that same cohort from future sends.

It’s a powerful upgrade to your content workflows. You can now run multiple ad campaigns across distinct, non-overlapping cohorts. Or, test new messaging with a smaller group before rolling it out more widely.

Visual Editor is Live ✨

We recently introduced our all-new Visual Editor in beta, and I genuinely believe it offers the best writing experience on the internet.

Now, you can add an audio preview to gated podcast episodes, so visitors get a taste of what they’re missing before they commit. Use our new audio tool to select a clip from the episode, or upload your own preview file.

Visitors can listen to the preview, then subscribe to unlock the rest. Think of it as a trailer for the full episode.

Previews only appear to non-subscribers on the episode page. Paid subscribers get the full episode.

And unlike most other podcast platforms, beehiiv never takes a cent of what you earn.😌

Our brand-new import tool makes migrating a breeze. Just point us to your existing RSS feed, and we’ll pull your entire archive into beehiiv.

The new Recommendation Network has two sides:

• Outgoing Recommendations → the newsletters you recommend to your audience.
• Incoming Recommendations → the newsletters sending new subscribers your way.

Let’s start with Outgoing Recommendations. Search for the newsletters you already know and love, or discover new ones across the beehiiv ecosystem.

Then, add these newsletters to your list of active recommendations with just a click.

You can also add paid recommendations, which open up an entirely new revenue stream. You’ll get paid automatically for every qualified subscriber you send.

Once you choose your Outgoing Recommendations, they’ll appear for new readers right after they sign up. After submitting their email, readers will see the option to subscribe to a few of the newsletters you recommend.

Add as many Outgoing Recommendations as you’d like, and you can show up to four at a time to new readers.

You’re always in control of which newsletters appear in each slot, with flexible settings to prioritize and manage your recommendations:

• Shuffle: Randomly shuffles through your available recommendations.
• Pinned: Always shows a specific newsletter.
• Smart: We’ll automatically fill the slot with relevant newsletters.
• Your publication: Features another publication in your account.
• None: Leaves the slot blank for now.

Outgoing recommendations matter because reciprocity is what drives the network. In fact, newsletters that recommend others are 32x more likely to be recommended back. Said differently: what goes around, comes around. 💫

You’ll see that momentum in your Incoming Recommendations. When you recommend other newsletters, they’re notified and can easily return the favor. If there are specific newsletters you’d love to be recommended by, you can also invite them directly.

As more publications recommend you, you’ll see those referrals, subscribers, and network effects come to life in your Incoming Recommendations dashboard.

Looking to turbocharge your subscriber growth? You can add funds to the Recommendation Network and pay others to promote your newsletter.

Creating an offer is simple:

• Name your price: Set the amount you’re willing to pay per qualified subscriber.
• Choose your audience: Add geographic targeting to reach the right readers.
• Set your budget: Decide how much you want to spend.

Once your offer is live, other publishers can apply to recommend your newsletter. Approve the publications you want, and reject the ones that aren’t the right fit.

Don’t want to wait for applications or invite publishers one by one? Turn on Auto-Accept. We’ll distribute your offer across the network to publications that match your criteria, helping you scale faster with less manual work.

Let’s start with the basics…

You’ve probably used ChatGPT or Claude to answer a question or perform a task. Out of the box, both models know a ton and can search the web to find answers.

But what if you wanted Claude to read your emails? Or create a calendar invite on your behalf? To do that, Claude needs access to the tools where that information lives.

That's where an MCP comes in.

MCP is an open standard that lets AI tools connect directly to software like Gmail and Google Calendar, so you can get real work done just by chatting with Claude.

In that example:

• Reading your emails → Gmail (read access)
• Creating calendar invites → Google Calendar (write access)

Now swap Gmail and Google Calendar for beehiiv, and consider everything you can accomplish with Claude connected to your publication.

We shipped read access first, and it quickly became part of my daily workflow. Now, I wake up to a Slack message every morning with a full breakdown of my new subscribers from the day before. It took about three minutes to set up:

• I finish a rough draft and drop it into Claude for feedback.
