Ready to meet the all-new Slackbot?

    Key takeaways

    • Slackbot is available now: As a personal AI agent, Slackbot is built into Slack and learns how you work, helping you stay organized, prepared, and focused.
    • Context-aware intelligence: Slackbot uses the messages, files, channels, and tools you already have access to in order to deliver answers, insights, and content tailored to your role.
    • Personalized productivity for every team: Slackbot unlocks role-specific workflows that help sales, marketing, engineering, service, and operations teams move work forward.
    • Built on trust: Enterprise-grade security, transparent permissions, and strict data boundaries ensure that Slackbot uses only what you can already see.

We’ve all been there: You start your day with unread messages scattered across channels. You know a decision was made, but where? Was it in the #project-alpha channel? A huddle? Maybe it’s buried in a slide deck from last Tuesday.

The “work of work” — searching, summarizing, and catching up — takes more time than the jobs we were hired to do. You need a trusted, always-on colleague that answers questions instantly and acts on your behalf.

Today, we’re announcing that we’ve rebuilt Slackbot from scratch to do just that. What used to be your friendly neighborhood notification-helper is graduating to become your personal, context-aware AI agent for work.

The all-new Slackbot understands your work, anticipates your needs, and acts as the intelligent partner you’ve always wanted. Starting now, you can stop hunting for information and start focusing on the work that matters.

Let’s dig into how it works and why it’s different from all the copilots and assistants on the market today.

Your personal AI agent for work, built into Slack

Slackbot is your deeply personal AI agent for work, built natively into Slack for every employee, with no setup or training required. What makes it different is simple: Slackbot starts with your context. And that context is what’s missing from the other tools out there.

Most AI tools are like interns who haven’t read the brief yet, and you have to spend half your time catching them up. Slackbot is the teammate that was in the meeting with you. When AI doesn’t understand your conversations, priorities, or how your business runs, it just creates more work.

    Context is the key

Because it lives inside Slack, Slackbot understands how you and your team speak and how decisions actually get made. It’s informed by your messages and files, but it sees only what you can see, always respecting the permissions already in place. This context makes Slackbot more accurate and helpful, so you can move from “hunting” to “doing” instantly.

Slackbot isn’t just another AI assistant. It’s an intelligent, active partner that brings clarity and momentum to the work you’re already doing in Slack.

“AI has raised expectations in our personal lives, but work is fundamentally different. To truly be useful at work, AI needs context: an understanding of your conversations, your tools, and how decisions actually get made. With Slackbot, we’ve built an intuitive, deeply native experience inside Slack that people can trust to help them move work forward, not just answer questions.”

    How it works

There is nothing to install, nothing to learn, and nothing new to manage. You simply start a conversation with Slackbot, and it understands what you’re asking and the context behind it.

It uses your actual work to create personalized briefings, clarify complex conversations, draft content in your voice, and surface insights you might otherwise miss. It can prepare you for meetings, help you navigate cross-functional complexity, and transform scattered inputs into clear, actionable outputs — all while staying grounded in the information you already have access to.

When you ask it a question, Slackbot evaluates the people you collaborate with, the channels you’re active in, the files and canvases you share, and the systems connected through enterprise search. It draws from signals like recent conversations, calendars, and shared documents and project decisions. Slackbot combines all of this into a complete understanding of your projects and team and then uses AI to synthesize insights, generate content, and structure information in ways that match your style and workflows.

The result is an experience that feels intuitive and personal: an AI agent that understands your role, your preferences, your projects, and the flow of work across your organization.

    See Slackbot in action

Slackbot is a hands-on partner that helps you transform information into action. Here are three core capabilities that show how Slackbot accelerates everyday work.

      1. Skip the catch-up, get to the decision
Slackbot can instantly synthesize information from across your channels, calls, canvases, and connected tools to provide clear, contextual insights. Whether you’re prepping for a customer call, aligning stakeholders before a big decision, or making sense of a fast-moving project, Slackbot surfaces the key themes, risks, opportunities, and next steps you need. By turning scattered messages and documents into meaningful intelligence, Slackbot helps you focus on what matters instead of having to piece together the story yourself.

“Slackbot is saving me, at bare minimum, 90 minutes a day. I ask it to create a canvas for a meeting tomorrow, and in 17 seconds it’s better than I could ever do. It tells me next steps, saving time and money.”
      — Sinan, Head of Beast Games Marketing, MrBeast

      1. A head start on every draft
This is the end of the blank page. Slackbot creates first drafts effortlessly in your voice and style, transforming raw inputs into polished outputs. It can create customer emails, meeting talk tracks, briefs, blog outlines, onboarding guides, summaries, and more — pulling relevant information directly from your channels and files. Because it understands your role and the tone of your team, Slackbot produces content that is natural and on-brand. Instead of starting from a blank page, you start with a well-structured draft tailored to your needs, ready to refine and share.

“Slackbot is my brilliant colleague whose status is always green/available and is working right next to me in Slack. Instead of switching between multiple applications and windows and losing my train of thought, I can ask Slackbot questions and have it conduct research and create content without ever leaving Slack, the place I am working all day. It’s transformed how efficiently I move through my day — no context switching, no friction.”
      — Christine McHone, Global Enterprise TMT Leader, Slalom

      1. Analyze files
You no longer have to read a 40-page deck at 4:45 p.m. on a Friday to understand the project’s status. From transcripts and spreadsheets to PDFs and long-form documents, Slackbot can analyze files deeply and instantly. Ask Slackbot to extract insights from sales call recordings, summarize complex reports, identify trends in customer feedback, or find specific data points inside large files. Slackbot cross-references file content with your other Slack conversations and connected systems to give you richer, more contextual answers. You spend less time searching and more time deciding, acting, and delivering.

“Slackbot has been an absolute chaos tamer for our team. It’s not just for simple tasks; it’s like having a virtual assistant, with far more context based on our business than any external tool.”
      — Mollie Bodensteiner, SVP of Operations, Engine

Slackbot + enterprise search + native AI: a new level of productivity

Slackbot is part of Slack’s larger AI ecosystem, working seamlessly alongside enterprise search and native AI capabilities to create a unified, context-driven environment for modern work. It delivers a conversational search experience that mirrors how people think and find information in the AI era — through natural language and following the flow of your questions.

Slackbot has taken the beloved Slack search bar and supercharged it. With Slackbot, search becomes your thought partner. It reasons with you, adapts to your style, and even runs your next steps. Slackbot understands all of the context around your work, and when that context changes in real time, so do the answers, recommendations, and next steps it provides. With Slackbot, we’re moving from “Help me find information” to “Help me identify, plan, and act,” all from this new chat experience.

Slackbot brings the power of AI and search together in a single conversation. Native AI handles your “in the moment” needs, like summarizing a long thread or translating a message, while enterprise search finds files and data scattered across your apps and drives. Slackbot leverages both to help you move work forward, just by asking.

Trust and security are built-in, not bolted on

Enterprise AI only works when trust comes first.

Slackbot is built on the same foundation of trust as Slack itself. It’s protected by Slack AI Guardrails, a multi-layered safety framework designed to keep your data secure. It respects roles, permissions, and access controls, and only surfaces information you are authorized to see, with clear citations that show where information comes from.

Your interactions remain private to you. Your data is protected and handled in accordance with Slack’s security and compliance standards.

Real-time safeguards detect and defuse issues like prompt injection, unsafe content, or phishing attempts, while strict permission checks ensure that Slackbot only accesses data that users are already authorized to view within Slack.

This is enterprise-grade trust and security that customers expect, delivered through a personal, conversational experience.

    This is just the beginning

Over time, Slackbot will become even more capable. As Agentforce and other third-party agents are introduced across your organization, Slackbot will become your ideal way to work with all of them.

Because it already understands your context, your priorities, and the way you work, Slackbot will become the place you turn first. You will not need to hunt for the right agent or tool. You’ll just ask Slackbot, and it will coordinate the work across systems and agents behind the scenes, while you stay focused on what matters.

Slackbot will be made available to Business+ and Enterprise+ customers through a phased rollout beginning today and continuing through January and February. Slack for iOS 26: A Simpler, More Productive Way to Work from Anywhere

Slack for iPhone and iPad adopts Apple’s Liquid Glass on iOS 26, delivering faster navigation, thumb-friendly controls, and a lighter, more native feel. It boosts mobile workflow with bottom search, extended canvases, and Enterprise Search for quick access to messages, files, and AI tools.

Slack meets Liquid Glass: a smoother, more responsive mobile experience for iPhone and iPad.

Author: Akshay Bakshi, Director of Product and Chris Delbuck, Sr. Director of Product Design at Slack
    November 18th, 2025

Most days, your work does not stay at your desk: You’re answering a quick DM between meetings, reviewing a deck on the train, checking in with your team from a client site, or catching up on a thread while you wait for coffee. When work follows you, the tools you use on your phone have to keep up. They need to be fast, clear, and feel like they belong on the device in your hand. This update focuses on helping you move through Slack more quickly in those short moments where you only have a few seconds to get something done.

You may notice these improvements as soon as you open the app. Navigation feels a bit smoother, key actions sit closer to your thumb, and the things you use most often appear faster. Even quick check-ins can feel easier, because the app is tuned more closely to how your day actually moves.

At Slack, when we make choices about layouts, controls, and interactions, we are thinking about how easily you can find the right channel, respond to your team, or jump into a canvas without losing momentum. Good design helps you manage your to-do list, collaborate in real-time, share files, or pull up the context you need, all from your phone. On mobile that means fewer taps, easier reachability and an experience that adapts to how people actually work throughout the day.

Our mission at Slack is to make people’s working lives simpler, more pleasant, and more productive. On mobile, that means supporting you wherever work happens. This is why we designed to implement Apple’s Liquid Glass experience for the Slack mobile app, now available on iOS 26. It brings more space for your content, smoother interactions, and a look and feel that fits right into the Apple ecosystem while still feeling unmistakably like Slack. The result is an app that feels lighter, quicker to use, and easier to navigate during those in-between moments where most mobile work happens.

A new era of iOS design

We care as much about how Slack feels to use as how it performs. iOS 26 and the Liquid Glass design system gave us a chance to tune the Slack experience so it feels right at home on your iPhone and iPad. From where things live on screen to how easily you can reach tools and information, our goal was to help you move through Slack faster on the device you rely on throughout your day.

    What is Liquid Glass?

Liquid Glass is Apple’s new design language for iOS 26. It brings a fluid, glass-like interface with depth and responsiveness. Elements adjust to the context around them. Controls step back when you are focused and reappear when needed. This aligns closely with how we think about building Slack: clear, expressive, and thoughtfully constructed.

What we delivered in Slack for iOS 26

    • 🔝 Extended content to reach the top and bottom vertical edges so your conversations and canvases use the full screen real estate
    • 🧊 Glass treatments applied to navigation headers and floating controls for interactions that feel more expressive, delightful, and attuned to what you need while you work
    • 📝 A redesigned composer with a new glass-capsule design that makes rich text inputs feel lighter and easier to use
    • 🔍 Floating search moved to the bottom navigation with a consistent glass treatment, making it easier to reach and faster to use
    • 🧭 iPad windowing and menu bar support added for iPadOS 26 so users can move through Slack even more efficiently

Our iPhone and iPad users choose Apple’s ecosystem for its quality, polish, and seamlessness. They expect applications to feel intuitive and thoughtfully designed. You’ll notice Slack feels like it belongs on iOS 26, while still feeling like Slack.

    Built for how you work

Designing for iOS is not only about adopting a new look. It is about supporting the way people actually work on their phones. Most mobile work happens in motion: answering a DM in the hallway, reviewing a doc while on the road, checking in with your team between customer meetings. Speed and clarity matter most. You need to find what you’re looking for quickly, respond without friction, and stay in the flow. We shaped this update around real mobile habits: one-handed navigation, quick glances, fast replies, and short bursts of focused work.

You will recognize familiar Slack elements, such as themes, expressive interfaces, emoji, and a friendly tone, remain. Liquid Glass frames them in a way that feels natural to iOS, with controls that only appear when needed. The experience stays familiar but now feels easier to use when you are juggling multiple tasks or moving through your day.

By relying on Apple’s native components, our teams spend less time rebuilding the basics and more time refining the moments that matter: writing a message, finding what you need, sharing a file, jumping into a canvas, or catching up on a thread. The result is less friction, more flow, and an app that feels intuitive from the moment you open it.

Every improvement supports faster, more confident action on mobile, whether you are clearing out quick tasks or preparing for something more important.

    Search anything, wherever you are

Mobile work often happens in small windows of time, and searching for information in those moments needs to feel instant and effortless. When you are walking into a customer meeting, riding between sites, or jumping between conference rooms, you rarely have time to click through menus or remember exactly where something lives. You want to ask, “What was the last escalation for Acme?” or “Summarize today’s incident channel,” and get an answer right away. This update focuses on giving you that speed when you only have seconds to get caught up.

With iOS 26 moving the global search control to the bottom of the screen, we brought Slack search into that same thumb-friendly zone. One tap opens up your work. The next time you’re looking for an answer while you’re walking, you’ll notice you can pull up the important context you need without slowing down.

Slack Enterprise Search brings everything your company knows into one place. Messages, canvases, files, customer records, and data from connected apps form a unified, permission-aware knowledge base. The more your team works in Slack, the richer that corpus becomes, and the easier it is to ask a natural language question and instantly find the message, file, or system record you need. For mobile-first workers, this eliminates the scavenger hunt and gives you the information you need exactly when you need it.

Search in Slack goes beyond finding old messages. It is the entry point into your work: channels, DMs, canvases, files and your AI tools. By putting Enterprise Search in a dedicated bottom tab, we are setting things up so that with one tap you can ask Slackbot or another agent to surface the right thread, summarize a discussion, or spin up a canvas to prep for a meeting. The result is a mobile workflow that delivers immediacy: ask a question, get context, take action, and move forward.

    Looking ahead

Early feedback has been encouraging. Customers have told us Slack feels “at home” on iOS 26 and fits more naturally into how they already use their iPhone and iPad. That is the experience we aimed to build: an enterprise-grade work app that feels native to iOS while still unmistakably Slack.

This foundation is already shaping what comes next. The new design system gives us the flexibility to unlock things like landscape support (coming soon) so you can take advantage of wider layouts with more room for content. It also positions us to deliver easier, more consistent access to AI agents across the app. These updates help us move faster toward Slack as the agentic work operating system, giving our customers a mobile experience with answers and actions always close at hand.

We are proud to work with Apple on this next step and even more proud to bring a new era of Slack to the devices our users love most.
