Key takeaways
- We’re making Slack the conversational interface for Salesforce with new, purpose-built experiences for Agentforce Sales, IT and HR Service, and Tableau. Teams can now interact with their CRM data and agents through natural language — right in the flow of work — to accelerate productivity and growth.
- We’re introducing new native AI built right into Slack to give every employee AI superpowers. A completely rebuilt Slackbot acts as your personalized AI companion, while the new Channel Expert agent provides instant, always-on knowledge from within your channels.
- Slack is now the single agentic operating system where all of your organization’s agents have a home. With the new Real-Time Search API and Model Context Protocol server capabilities and an updated platform for developers, partners like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, Writer, Dropbox, Notion, Cognition, Vercel, Cursor, and more are building intelligent agents that live natively in Slack, unifying your enterprise AI tools in one place.
Modern enterprise work is more fragmented than ever. Teams hunt for information across siloed apps, toggling between conversations and static CRM records as they try to connect the dots to simply get their work done. The future of work is not in tabs and forms, but in people and AI agents working together in the flow of conversation.
That’s why, today at Dreamforce, we’re announcing Slack as your agentic OS, bringing everything your entire enterprise needs into one unified place to drive work at the speed of AI. This is a fundamental shift in how work gets done, transforming Slack into a single, conversational workspace where people, AI, and agents collaborate seamlessly, with the full context of conversation and data, to move work forward faster, together.
We have entered a new phase in the evolution of work, where, thanks to AI tools, employee productivity has the potential to skyrocket and drive faster business growth. A BCG study found that a 30% gain in employee productivity translated into 50% higher top-line revenue for companies. Meanwhile, IDC forecasts that AI solutions and services will create a global cumulative impact of more than $22 trillion by 2030. All of this adds up to one of the greatest economic growth opportunities of our time.
To bring this vision to life, we’re:
- Making your CRM conversational, with new experiences that bring Salesforce Agentforce Sales, IT and HR Service, and Tableau directly into Slack
- Equipping every employee with personalized, contextual AI with a completely rebuilt, personalized Slackbot and a new Channel Expert agent from Agentforce that delivers instant knowledge
- Connecting your company’s tech stack with context-aware agents by further extending our platform with a Real-Time Search (RTS) API and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server capabilities that enable developers like OpenAI,Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, Writer, Dropbox, Notion, Cognition, Vercel, Cursor, and more to build intelligent agents that live right inside Slack
Together, Slack and Salesforce are reimagining work for the AI era, with people and agents collaborating side by side to unlock unprecedented productivity and growth.
“Every company is asking where their agents will live, how they’ll get context, and how to make them useful. Slack is the answer. By making Slack the conversational interface for Salesforce, we’re giving every employee a trusted, unified home for AI and agents — and transforming how work gets done.”
For Salesforce customer Engine, Slack is the command center for work, where communication, applications, and operations converge. The travel-management company has a vision of a single, intuitive interface that brings employees, agents, and assistants together, so there’s no jumping between tools or websites to get work done. “We’re building for scale, not just speed,” said Mollie Bodensteiner, Engine’s SVP of Operations. “Slack and Salesforce give us the structure to automate the work that slows people down and the flexibility to keep innovating as we grow.”
We’re reimagining Salesforce in Slack
If Slack is where people, data, apps, agents, AI, and workflows come together, then Salesforce is the engine driving customer success across every team. We’re redefining how teams engage with Salesforce by making Slack the conversational interface that brings the power of CRM directly into the flow of work, helping organizations drive productivity and growth at scale. This means reimagining how employees interact with Salesforce — not through tabs, forms, or dashboards, but through conversation.
We’ve already brought parts of the Salesforce platform, like Tableau Next and Salesforce channels, into Slack. Today, we’re introducing a new generation of Salesforce experiences built natively in Slack. They’re powered by Agentforce and grounded in the context of your conversations, helping every team move faster, make smarter decisions, and serve your customers better.
Agentforce Sales in Slack:
Sales teams thrive when they can work together quickly and easily. We’ve built Agentforce Sales to do just that. It’s a new Salesforce experience that puts customer records, notifications, and AI agents in the Slack sidebar, right alongside your team conversations. Reps, managers, and sales agents can strategize and act on customer data together in one place. Agentforce Sales can find insights, suggest what to do next, and even update records for you. Just ask a simple question — no forms or toggling required. Managing your pipeline is now as simple as having a conversation, helping you close deals faster and keep your CRM up to date without the busywork.
Agentforce IT Service in Slack:
Getting IT help shouldn’t mean sending a ticket into the void. Agentforce IT Service brings support right into Slack, where you already work. Employees can get instant help for common requests like password resets, with AI agents resolving the issue on the spot. For more complex problems, an incident channel is automatically created, pulling in the right people and all the relevant context. Your IT team can jump on the issue immediately, guided by agents that learn from past incidents and recommend the best way forward. It’s faster, smarter support, without app switching.
Agentforce HR Service in Slack:
Now you can get quick answers to HR questions without leaving Slack. From onboarding to benefits, AI agents are ready to help with routine requests. You can ask about company policies, file time-off requests, or check on your onboarding tasks, all without leaving Slack. And when a question needs a human touch, the agent hands it off to your HR team with all the context, so they can jump in and help right away.
Agentforce Tableau in Slack:
Get straight to the point with live, interactive dashboards and agentic analytics, right where you’re already working.
Channel Expert
Channel Expert can answer questions immediately based on your company’s historical context in Slack.
Finding answers at work shouldn’t be a scavenger hunt. That’s why we’re introducing Agentforce Channel Expert, an always-on, in-channel agent that can answer FAQs and surface relevant information. Ask a question about a process, a policy, or an internal workflow, and Channel Expert delivers an immediate answer based on your company’s information. Instead of waiting for a teammate to reply or digging through documents, you get trusted information on demand. This frees up your team’s experts to focus on more-strategic work instead of repeating an answer a thousand times, and it makes every conversation in Slack not just collaborative, but intelligent.
Context
At the center of it all is context — Slack’s most powerful differentiator. Because Agentforce-powered experiences live inside your team’s conversations, they understand who you are, what you’re working on, and what matters most. This shift from static workflows to dynamic, conversational experiences means people and agents can work together in real time with all the context they need. With Slack as the front door to Salesforce, every conversation is a place to close deals faster, provide smarter support, and act on new ideas.
Unlock personal productivity
Growth isn’t just about the big ideas; it’s about how fast your teams can act on them. The best way to move faster is to make work simpler, so everyone can focus on what matters. That’s why we’re giving every employee AI superpowers, with Slack’s conversational data providing the essential context that makes AI tools truly useful, personal, and action-oriented. When your teams can find answers instantly and act on them without friction, not only do they work better; they work — and business grows — faster.
With enterprise search in Slack, you can now search across your apps to find answers in one place.
Earlier this year, we launched enterprise search, so teams could stop hopping between apps and start finding information, right in Slack. With a new custom API coming soon for enterprise search, we’re making it even more powerful. You’ll be able to securely search across all of your company’s data, including internal systems and on-premise software. We’re also adding new out-of-the-box connectors to the tools you use every day, with Gmail, Outlook, Dropbox, and Notion on the way.
We’ve completely rebuilt Slackbot to be your personal AI companion, helping you stay focused and move work forward. It connects to the tools you already use, like Google Drive, Salesforce, and OneDrive, to bring you clear insights from all your conversations and files. Need a project plan? Slackbot can create one from a canvas or a meeting transcript, so you never have to start from scratch. It can analyze reports, pull action items from a presentation, and package everything into a canvas for easy sharing. It even helps you stay organized by flagging your daily priorities and finding information when you only remember a few details. And that’s just the beginning. Think of it as an assistant that’s always there to help you prepare for meetings, keep your projects on track, or reason through complex, conversational tasks. As Slackbot continues to grow and evolve, it will even be able to take action on your behalf and build agents based on your request, all with no code required.
With Slackbot and Agentforce right in the flow of conversation, employees get the best of both worlds: a personal AI assistant that keeps them organized and productive, and digital teammates that handle team-wide tasks and knowledge at scale. This is people and agents moving together at AI speed.
Unify your entire enterprise into one agentic OS
The way we work is changing. We rely on a growing number of apps and AI tools to help us get things done, but that often means jumping between systems and losing context along the way. The real power of AI isn’t in disparate tools but in how they all work together. When your apps, agents, and data are connected, your teams can move faster, build on each other’s ideas, and see the direct impact of their work.
Slack is the best place for all of your AI tools because it’s where your teams are already collaborating and working. When you connect your AI apps and agents to Slack, they learn from the context of your conversations. This means they can give you smarter, more relevant answers and take action right where you’re working. Context is the difference between an agent that can define a term and one that knows your team’s priorities, the status of your projects, and how you like to work. It makes AI more useful and your team more productive.
That’s why, with the latest Slack platform update, we’re making it easier for developers and partners to build their AI apps and agents directly in Slack, creating a single, secure place for all the tools you use.
Here are the newest capabilities:
- The Real-Time Search (RTS) API provides instant, secure access to conversational data, bringing context to agents for more accurate and relevant responses.
- The Slack Model Context Protocol (MCP) server simplifies how LLMs, AI apps, and agents find information and perform tasks for Slack users, making development easier.
- The AI Developer Toolkit lets you build AI apps and agents in Slack, including pre-built Block Kit Tables, work objects, AI best practices, and more.
The best way to see the power of the platform is through the AI apps and agents already being built. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, Writer, Dropbox, Notion, Cognition, Vercel, Cursor, and others are delivering intelligent agents that live natively in Slack, bringing insights directly into your workflow. Here are a few examples:
- OpenAI brings ChatGPT directly inside Slack with the new Real-Time Search API. By combining Slack’s real-time collaboration with the power of ChatGPT, teams will be able to surface insights about conversations, draft posts and replies, and take action faster.
- OpenAI’s Codex app for Slack lets you start contributing directly from team conversations in Slack — just tag @Codex in a team channel or thread. It automatically gathers relevant context from the conversation, chooses the right environment, and answers with a link to the completed task in Codex cloud. From there, you can merge its changes, continue working, or pull the task down to your local environment via the IDE extension to keep working.
- Anthropic integrates Claude into Slack for team collaboration via DMs, an AI assistant panel, or @mentions. It offers web search, data source connections, and document analysis, enhancing insights by searching across Slack workspace channels, messages, and files.
- Google Agentspace, which is now part of Gemini Enterprise, is a single, secure platform to build, manage, and adopt AI agents at scale. It brings together data and context from across productivity tools, turning an organization’s knowledge into insights and actions. The Agentspace integration with the Slack RTS API creates a seamless information flow, allowing users to access these deeper insights through Agentspace agents inside Slack or by using Agentspace fueled by live Slack data.
- Perplexity Enterprise redefines search as a conversational, transparent discovery experience. Connecting to Slack via the MCP server, it grounds queries in team conversations for accurate, work-relevant answers.
- Dropbox Dash uses our RTS API to deliver instant insights across both Slack and Dropbox Dash. This gives you immediate access to your content with all permissions and security intact.
- The Notion AI Slack app lets you ask questions about threads, conversations, or updates from your work. Using the RTS API to search for content across public and private channels and DMs (with appropriate permissions), your work in Notion reflects the most current conversations happening on Slack.
We’re pleased to bring ChatGPT even closer to where work happens in Slack — so teams can tap into frontier AI as naturally as talking to a teammate. With the ChatGPT app for Slack integrated into conversations, files, and workflows, knowledge and insights are always at your fingertips, making it easier to move work forward together.

Leading companies like Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, Writer, and others have launched new AI agents in the Slack Marketplace
Slack's new real-time search API and Model Context Protocol server give developers secure access to conversational dataThe future of work is here, and it’s agentic. AI agents are essential for getting things done efficiently, but in order for them to be effective, they need context. The richest context comes from the everyday conversations happening within your team. Think about it: Your team’s most valuable insights, decisions, and ideas are often shared in discussions. This conversational data is a goldmine, yet it’s frequently locked away, difficult for people to search and impossible to access for tools designed to help. We recently announced the next evolution of the Slack platform , giving partners and developers the tools they need to build powerful AI apps and agents. These are securely connected to the rich, customer-owned and -controlled conversational data in Slack. Both the new Real-Time Search (RTS) API and new Model Context Protocol (MCP) server provide secure, flexible, and agent-ready access to conversational data. This rich context empowers agents to move beyond generic responses, enabling context-aware, user-specific conversations. AI becomes more relevant, more accurate, and far more powerful in boosting productivity. Leading companies — including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, Writer, Dropbox, Notion, Cognition, Vercel, Cursor — have built new AI and agent app experiences using these innovations. Look for these powerful apps and agents coming soon to the Slack Marketplace .
Slack is the natural home for modern AI apps and agents
Slack is the natural home for modern AI apps and agents The average enterprise juggles over 1,000 applications, leading to employees wasting countless hours copying, pasting, and context switching, draining productivity by up to 40%. It’s a frustrating reality for users, and it results in nearly half of SaaS licenses going unused. But what if there was a better way? Imagine a seller simply asking an agent to update CRM records, an employee resolving an IT issue without filing a ticket, or a marketing leader analyzing campaign performance without pulling a single report. By unifying your tech stack with AI apps and agents in Slack, you’re not just making work easier for your teams, you’re maximizing the return on your entire IT investment. That’s why Slack is the 2% of your IT budget that amplifies the other 98%.
- Unlock unstructured data: Enhance your AI agents with access to your team’s discussions and files (with permissions, of course), giving you personalized, relevant insights right in Slack. Teams save an average of 97 minutes a week using existing data intelligently and securely.
- Accelerate decision-making: Connect all app data, like Agentforce Sales , Asana, or Workday, with Slack conversations to provide complete context, enhancing search and AI for faster insights and action. This results in 37% faster decision-making across teams and 36% faster responses to customers.
- Boost productivity: Build your AI and agents directly into Slack, unifying your tech stack. This means fewer clicks, less wasted time, and more focus on work, all from the place where your conversations are already happening.
- Drive app adoption: Bring all your apps and agents where you and your team already work, enabling them to use all their tools in a single place.
- Stay secure and compliant: Keep your data protected with enterprise-grade security, robust privacy features, and granular permissions, providing a secure foundation for collaboration.
“The best work happens when context and execution aren’t separate. With Notion AI and Slack together, teams can turn every conversation into action.”
Powering trusted, context-aware AI
Powering trusted, context-aware AI
We know one size does not fit all. That’s why the Slack platform is built for flexibility and extensibility, allowing you to integrate all your apps, data, and agents. Our platform enhancements power agentic AI , making it easy for developers and partners to build powerful, custom agents tailored to your unique needs. These agents securely access rich, contextual conversational data directly within Slack, significantly boosting productivity. With built-in security, we are dedicated to safeguarding your Slack data and providing the tools you need to develop robust AI apps and agents with secure access and retrieval on your terms . The Real-Time Search (RTS) API and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server provide secure data access on your terms for developers and third parties:The RTS API gives apps real-time access to one of your company’s most valuable assets: the rich, conversational data within Slack. By surfacing the most current discussions, files, and channels, the RTS API empowers AI to act on information in context. It unlocks your organization’s collective intelligence, securely connecting agents to conversations once trapped in silos. Crucially, the RTS API is designed with enterprise security at its core. Tools interact with conversational data without needing to bulk-download it or store it elsewhere, respecting existing access permissions and retrieving only the specific messages or files relevant to a query. The result: AI agents get the precise, contextual information they need — nothing more, nothing less.
The MCP server takes it a step further by simplifying and standardizing how large language models (LLMs), AI apps, and agents discover contextual information and execute tasks on behalf of Slack users, reducing complexity for developers. With its unified communication layer between the LLM and Slack, the server establishes a universal way for AI systems to connect to data sources and tools. Fragmented integrations are replaced with a single, consistent protocol that adheres to the user’s specific permissions. Developers don’t have to write code to define every possible task an agent can perform or implement complex, service-specific integrations for each LLM or external service.
In addition, the Slack platform continues to advance the fundamental building blocks available to admins and developers with new innovations:
- Slack work objects: Developers can now build apps with dynamic, interactive previews directly within Slack. Work objects standardize how third-party data appears, providing detailed information, images, and documents in Slack and eliminating the need to switch applications. This deep integration gives AI agents greater context, improving their ability to find information and act quickly and accurately. We launched partner integrations with Google Drive, OneDrive, Asana, PagerDuty, Box, and Highspot in August.
- Enhanced developer toolkit: Developers have everything they need to build and customize Slack for their business. From apps and agents to automated workflows, new capabilities include AI best practices, prebuilt Block Kit Tables, and updated resources like the CLI for Bolt apps. These upgrades streamline the entire development lifecycle, from the first line of code to the finished end-user experience, making it easier than ever to build for the agentic era.
“Businesses today conduct their most important conversations across multiple Slack channels, creating a wealth of institutional knowledge that hasn’t been accessible to AI assistants like Claude. Slack’s Real-Time Search API changes that — Claude can now draw context from your team’s actual discussions to provide answers grounded in your real work, then deliver those insights directly back into your workflow. This integration enables Claude to provide trusted intelligence that’s aligned with how your team actually operates.” Scott White Head of Product, Claude

Slack unveils a first‑of‑its‑kind toolkit bringing Salesforce data, workflows and apps into Slack, plus Flow in Slack and Apex SDK for Salesforce. This turns Slack into a Digital HQ where customer data, automation and collaboration live in one place, speeding smarter decisions.
How we’re bridging the gap between teams, tools and data so everyone can work together faster to deliver customer-centric solutions
By the team at Slack
September 30th, 2025
For companies to thrive in challenging times, speed matters. Closing deals, serving customers and getting products to market all require fast decision-making and nimble execution. But all too often, the old ways of doing business slow companies down. Information is siloed. Data is guarded. Teams talk past each other. All of these inefficiencies can hinder your ability to deliver value to customers. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be that way. Instead, you can make information accessible to everyone, empower your teams to freely share ideas, and welcome all teammates into a single, inclusive home for collaboration by making Slack your Digital HQ. That’s why we’ve invested heavily in the Slack platform to give everyone unlimited ways to customize Slack, automate workflows and adapt their workspaces to meet the specific needs of their teams. Now we’re taking that even further. At TrailblazerDX, Salesforce’s leading developer conference, we’ve introduced a first-of-its kind collection of tools for bringing Salesforce data, workflows and apps into Slack quickly and easily. With Salesforce, we’re combining the single view of customers with the place that collaboration happens, providing business teams—from sales to service to marketing and beyond—with customer insights in the context of their digital HQ, so they can make smarter decisions faster than ever.

New Slack profile updates enhance hybrid work experience for teams
Slack unveils redesigned profiles to boost connection and inclusion in its digital HQ. New modules, pronunciation audio, hover cards, extended rich text, and Smart Tags enhance collaboration and discoverability across teams with June 1 rollouts.
Introducing new ways to foster connection, collaboration and inclusion with teammates in your digital HQ
By the team at Slack
September 30th, 2025Have you looked around in a meeting and wondered, who are all these people? Without context, working with new teammates across your organization can feel disconnected, impersonal, and most of all—like work.
Making connections can feel particularly tricky in hybrid and remote work environments. You may no longer get those few minutes before and after meetings to make the kind of small talk that often fuels positive working relationships like you used to.
At Slack, we’re obsessed with improving your digital headquarters, helping you connect with new colleagues and quickly find the right collaboration partners—no matter where you are. Today, we’re announcing our redesigned Slack profiles that make it easier to see who you’re working with, so you can work better alongside them. Plus, new features that will help you represent your full, authentic self at work.
“By helping people understand who their colleagues are as humans, our redesigned profiles make it easier for teammates to collaborate, feel connected, and do their best work together.”
5 ways Slack profiles make it easier to virtually navigate an organization
1. Simpler, richer profile UI
We’ve reimagined user profiles to include a much richer set of information in a clean, more streamlined way. In the new profile, you’ll find three new modules: Contact information, People, and About Me. The Contact info section includes exactly what it says: ways to reach you. The People module lets others know the people you work with. And the About Me section lets you add customizable fields such as your start date, languages spoken, and fun elements like pets and birthdays. If that seems like a lot of information, fret not. We’ve optimized the layout of our profiles for improved information hierarchy.
2. Pronounce names correctly—the first time
Pronouncing someone’s name correctly is an important way to make someone feel respected, valued, and seen, which can help foster inclusion and belonging throughout your organization. That’s why we’ve added an audio feature to all user profiles that lets you record the exact pronunciation of your name. That way, anyone looking at your profile can listen to it and know how to say your name correctly—the first time. Additionally, you can add the phonetic pronunciation of your name to your profile. This feature will start rolling out to Slack users on June 1.
3. See information at-a-glance with Hover Cards
Hover Cards are a subtle design enhancement we’ve made in the spirit of reducing the friction that gets in the way of digital connection. When you hover your mouse over someone’s name, a card will pop up containing the user’s picture and abbreviated profile. You can expand the profile by clicking on it. You can also initiate huddles, calls, or direct messages from the card itself. Consider it a few less clicks—on us. This feature will start rolling out to Slack users on June 1.
4. Create richer connections through Flexible Text
With Flexible Text, which launched earlier this year, profile fields for Slack Atlas customers can now support up to 5,000 rich text characters, allowing you to express yourself in deeper ways—think extended bio, bullet points, or links to useful resources. These expanded fields can incorporate special characters, line breaks, code blocks, even emoji. Content on your profile is searchable, so people will be able to find you based on elements you add.
5. Quickly find the right colleague with Smart Tags
Smart Tags, another Slack Atlas update launched on April 28, are a powerful new way to search through all of your colleagues’ profiles within your organization. With the Smart Tag data type, admins can create fields that convert into searchable, filterable “tags.” Think: expertise, focus areas, languages, etc. For example, say you’re trying to support a French-speaking customer and need to find a co-worker to translate a request. With Smart Tags, you’ll be able to quickly identify the right colleague by searching “French” and clicking on the People search tab. Alternatively, you can find everyone who shares that characteristic pulled up in the People Browser by clicking through on a Smart Tag on their profile.
“Slack Atlas has been one of the new features we’ve implemented to help our remote new hires acclimate more easily—as they can seamlessly reference people and org structures and reporting lines.” Emily Guerin

Agentforce: Now Powered by Slack Data and Slack Actions
Agentforce in Slack now has Slack Actions with three new pre-built skills: create/update canvases, send direct messages, and look up users. It taps Slack conversational data to deliver contextual responses and automate tasks across channels and canvases.
Elevate your Agentforce with even more skills.
By the team at Slack
September 30th, 2025
Last month, we made Agentforce, the digital labor platform for enterprises, available in Slack. This enabled companies to deploy trusted, employee-facing autonomous AI agents across all lines of business—sales, service, marketing, and commerce.
Today, we’re excited to enhance Agentforce in Slack with a new feature: Slack Actions. These actions enable Agentforce to automatically perform Slack tasks on your behalf, right in the flow of work. In Agentforce, you can build custom actions for just about everything, and with today’s launch customers can tap into three new pre-built Slack skills: create and update canvases, send direct messages, and look up users.
Let’s take a closer look at each pre-built Slack Action:
Create and update documents with Agentforce
Create and update documents with Agentforce Agentforce can now create and update canvases in Slack on your behalf. With this new capability, you can effortlessly manage a variety of essential documents directly within Slack. Whether you’re working on account plans, proposals, contracts, incident reports, onboarding documents, marketing briefs, or any other critical files, Agentforce has got you covered.
For example, you could prompt Agentforce to create a new canvas titled ”Account Summary“ and automatically add details from the meeting you just had. From there, teams can continue collaborating in the canvas, all without ever leaving Slack.
Connect with team members
Connect with team members Need to contact a colleague but aren’t even sure who to ask? Let Agentforce identify and message your teammates in Slack. Agentforce can also send direct messages through prompts or as part of your workflow, enabling you to automatically keep team members informed about important updates or changes.
For example, let’s say you learned some important information about one of your biggest customers, Acme. You could prompt Agentforce to, “Send a Slack message to the Acme account owner.” Agentforce can also send you a summary of the Acme account, update the canvas with Acme activities, and find escalations in #acme-inc.
Leverage Slack conversational data to improve responses
Leverage Slack conversational data to improve responses According to Gartner, 47% of workers struggle to find the information they need to do their jobs. Agentforce can now tap into public and permissioned conversational data in your Slack workspace across channels, lists, and canvases to provide more contextually relevant responses. This wealth of unstructured data, grounded in your team’s conversations, adds vital context that makes Agentforce a powerful, knowledgeable member of your team.
For example, Agentforce can serve as an IT specialist to automatically detect service disruptions. By leveraging conversational data in relevant Slack channels, Agentforce can create an initial assessment of impacted systems and potential causes, create a ticket in Service Cloud, send a direct message to the on-site IT resource for resolution, and generate a full incident report.
Agentforce: Your AI-powered IT specialist.
Take action with Agentforce in Slack Take action with Agentforce in Slack These new Slack Actions build upon our mission of unlocking agentic productivity for every employee with purpose-built agents in your flow of work. And we’re just getting started. With Agentforce in Slack, we’re committed to evolving and meeting the increasing demands of businesses, ensuring they remain adaptable and productive.

Say hello to the updated Slack Community Forum companion app
Slack rolls out the next iteration of its Community Forum companion app, now embedded in Slack to ask questions, browse topics, and track badges without leaving your workspace. It links your Forum account, boosts in‑app notifications, and keeps the browser Forum available.
Bring all the magic of the community right into Slack
By the team at Slack
September 30th, 2025
Illustration by Giacomo BagnaraCommunity has been a centerpiece of Slack for a long time. With so many ways to bring the digital HQ to life, it makes sense that Slack customers feel an inherent need to learn from one another and discover simpler, more productive ways of working using Slack.
Enabling users to share their Slack story has always been a priority for the Slack community. After the launch of the Slack Community Forum last year, we realized how important it is to make sure these stories are not only being told but also seen. Today we’re delivering the next iteration of the Forum companion app, making it easier than ever to share your Slack story, ask questions and connect with a global community of users directly within Slack. That’s right—all the goodness of the Forum brought right into your workspace.
With the app, you can ask a question, reply to another member’s post, browse content and stay up to date on how many badges you’ve collected, all without ever leaving Slack. Not to worry, though, the online Forum isn’t going anywhere. You may still access the web browser version at any time.
Start by connecting the app to your workspace
So how do you get started? First, you’ll want to be sure the app is authorized and approved for use in your workspace. Keep in mind the workspace may have certain permissions set up for apps, so if that’s the case, please check in with your Workspace Owner. If, ultimately, you’re unable to proceed, please join us in the Slack Community workspace where the companion app has been authorized for use.
Next, make sure both your Forum account and your Slack workspace are properly connected.
Connect the app to your Slack workspace
To activate the companion app, you’ll first need to log in to your Slack Community Forum account. Next, take the following steps to ensure the app gets connected to your Slack workspace of choice:
- Click on your profile picture in the upper right of the screen and select My Settings.
- Scroll down until you see Salesforce to Slack connection.
- Click the Connect button. The magic of technology will pair the app with your workspace.
If you’re currently not connected to the app, you’re limited to a simple search of the Forum without the added benefit of connecting with users, asking questions and searching topics. Pairing the app to your workspace will unlock even more of the Forum’s features, allowing you to engage at a deeper level with a global community of users. We’ve brought the systems together to enable you to seamlessly tell your story.
Settle in and get comfortable within the app
You made it! It’s time to bring the Forum to life in your workspace. Once you select the app in your sidebar, navigate to the three headers at the top of the screen to understand where information lives and how it arrives to your workspace.
- Home: Consider this the spot where you take action. This space is a private browsing experience specific to you: ask a question, search content and follow topics. Remember, this app is linked to the Slack Community Forum; therefore, the content you see and actions you take are as if you’re participating on the Forum directly.
- Messages: This is where all of your notifications will populate, including the ability to “quick reply” to a question. Depending on how you’ve set up your Forum notification preferences, some of what you’ll see here includes direct mentions, replies to your post, a weekly digest and badges you’ve earned. That’s right—notifications from the Forum arrive directly to you in Slack; it’s a beautiful thing!
- About: Here you’ll find more information about the app, along with a button to access the app’s homepage.
Now that you’re familiar with the app, you’re ready to start asking questions and sharing your expertise. Whether you have a question about a particular feature, you’re curious how other users design their digital HQ or you’re a developer building an app and you need a second opinion—the Forum is the spot to learn from one another.
If you’re looking for additional support on how to use the Forum app, check out this brief demo.
Explore the Slack Community Forum
The Slack Community Forum is a central place for users to connect with others and with Slack more directly to research, gather information and solve problems together. It was designed to help you get answers to questions no matter where you are on your journey, whether it’s your first day using Slack or you’re a seasoned developer.
Everyone is welcome. Visit when you have a question, want to browse through existing tips and tricks, or would like to join a trusted community centered around getting more out of Slack.

Meet Channel Expert: Your Always-On Agent in Slack
Slack unveils Channel Expert, a pre-built, always-on AI agent in every channel, powered by Agentforce. It answers FAQs, surfaces data from conversations and apps, escalates to humans, and deploys in seconds, boosting productivity with context-rich, in-workflow support.
Key Takeaways
- Channel Expert, available to Agentforce in Slack customers, is a pre-built, always-on agent in every Slack channel that delivers instant, context-aware answers from day one.
- Slack is where AI agents work alongside teams, and that begins with Channel Expert.
We’ve all been there: juggling priorities, answering the same questions again and again, and trying to keep things moving. But the busier we get, the more the questions pile up, and the more work stalls until the right person comes online to respond. With the new Channel Expert, that’s no longer a problem.
Your Slack channel’s dedicated AI agent
Channel Expert is Slack’s first pre-built AI agent, powered by Agentforce. It gives every Slack channel an always-on teammate that can answer FAQs, surface relevant information, and escalate to a human when needed.
Channel Expert lives right where collaboration already happens — Slack. For Agentforce users, its pre-built, native Slack integration offers the quickest and simplest path to deploying agentic AI, eliminating extra costs or technical hurdles. By meeting employees where they work, Channel Expert keeps teams moving, relieves subject matter experts of repetitive requests, and scales institutional knowledge.
Why Slack is the best place for agents
AI agents are only as powerful as the context they’re given. With its wealth of conversational data and up-to-date information from your CRM and integrated apps, this makes Slack the ideal platform for them to live.
By combining the context of Slack conversations with the data from your connected apps, tools and CRM, Slack gives agents something no other platform can: the full picture of what’s happening right now. With that context, agents don’t just provide generic answers — they deliver personalized, precise, and timely support in the flow of work.
Slack Channels are dedicated spaces that bring order and clarity to work communication. Channel Expert uses the history and context of a channel along with specified information from connected files to respond with relevance, deflect repetitive requests, and proactively suggest next steps. Every channel becomes a place where humans and agents come together to collaborate, share information, align, act, and move work forward — unlocking a new level of agentic productivity.
How Channel Expert works
Channel Expert is available out-of-the-box and is ready to deploy in seconds. Any channel manager can add and configure it with a few clicks, so teams can start interacting with the agent immediately. As the channel manager, you can connect your agent to channel conversations, PDFs, canvases, lists, and text files (Google Drive support coming soon) without having to tap IT on the shoulder.
Once deployed, Channel Expert can:
- Find answers from your conversations: It searches through your channel history and connected data sources to answer FAQs.
- Escalate to a human when needed: If it can’t find the answer, Channel Expert routes the question to the right person or channel so nothing gets lost.
- Stay up to date: Channel Expert learns and improves as conversations evolve, keeping responses fresh and accurate.
This lightweight setup makes Channel Expert perfect for teams wanting to add AI teammates without taking on additional complexity.
Real-world success stories
Here at Salesforce, we’re seeing first-hand how Channel Expert is transforming how teams get answers, share knowledge, and keep projects moving. With an always-on agent in every channel, questions that used to slow teams down are resolved instantly, freeing up experts, reducing bottlenecks, and keeping work flowing. Here’s how we’re seeing teams at Salesforce use Channel Expert to drive work forward, faster:
- IT Help Desk channels automatically handle routine questions such as password resets or VPN support, dramatically cutting down on new ticket volume.
- HR policy channels now function as 24/7 self-service hubs, offering employees immediate access to policies such as expense reimbursement or time off, eliminating the need to await a human to respond.
- Sales team channels get always-on enablement, with easy access to the latest pricing sheets, product decks, and competitive intel in seconds — shrinking time-to-response from hours to moments.
- Onboarding channels can provide new hires with around-the-clock support with instant answers to common questions, helping them ramp faster and start contributing sooner.
- Project channels surface status updates, resources, and next steps instantly, keeping everyone aligned and momentum high.
- Customer success channels speed up internal collaboration, helping teams surface solutions to common issues and serve customers faster.
