Slack for iOS 26: A Simpler, More Productive Way to Work from Anywhere
Slack for iPhone and iPad adopts Apple’s Liquid Glass on iOS 26, delivering faster navigation, thumb-friendly controls, and a lighter, more native feel. It boosts mobile workflow with bottom search, extended canvases, and Enterprise Search for quick access to messages, files, and AI tools.
Slack meets Liquid Glass: a smoother, more responsive mobile experience for iPhone and iPad.
Author: Akshay Bakshi, Director of Product and Chris Delbuck, Sr. Director of Product Design at Slack
November 18th, 2025Most days, your work does not stay at your desk: You’re answering a quick DM between meetings, reviewing a deck on the train, checking in with your team from a client site, or catching up on a thread while you wait for coffee. When work follows you, the tools you use on your phone have to keep up. They need to be fast, clear, and feel like they belong on the device in your hand. This update focuses on helping you move through Slack more quickly in those short moments where you only have a few seconds to get something done.
You may notice these improvements as soon as you open the app. Navigation feels a bit smoother, key actions sit closer to your thumb, and the things you use most often appear faster. Even quick check-ins can feel easier, because the app is tuned more closely to how your day actually moves.
At Slack, when we make choices about layouts, controls, and interactions, we are thinking about how easily you can find the right channel, respond to your team, or jump into a canvas without losing momentum. Good design helps you manage your to-do list, collaborate in real-time, share files, or pull up the context you need, all from your phone. On mobile that means fewer taps, easier reachability and an experience that adapts to how people actually work throughout the day.
Our mission at Slack is to make people’s working lives simpler, more pleasant, and more productive. On mobile, that means supporting you wherever work happens. This is why we designed to implement Apple’s Liquid Glass experience for the Slack mobile app, now available on iOS 26. It brings more space for your content, smoother interactions, and a look and feel that fits right into the Apple ecosystem while still feeling unmistakably like Slack. The result is an app that feels lighter, quicker to use, and easier to navigate during those in-between moments where most mobile work happens.
A new era of iOS design
We care as much about how Slack feels to use as how it performs. iOS 26 and the Liquid Glass design system gave us a chance to tune the Slack experience so it feels right at home on your iPhone and iPad. From where things live on screen to how easily you can reach tools and information, our goal was to help you move through Slack faster on the device you rely on throughout your day.
What is Liquid Glass?
Liquid Glass is Apple’s new design language for iOS 26. It brings a fluid, glass-like interface with depth and responsiveness. Elements adjust to the context around them. Controls step back when you are focused and reappear when needed. This aligns closely with how we think about building Slack: clear, expressive, and thoughtfully constructed.
What we delivered in Slack for iOS 26
- 🔝 Extended content to reach the top and bottom vertical edges so your conversations and canvases use the full screen real estate
- 🧊 Glass treatments applied to navigation headers and floating controls for interactions that feel more expressive, delightful, and attuned to what you need while you work
- 📝 A redesigned composer with a new glass-capsule design that makes rich text inputs feel lighter and easier to use
- 🔍 Floating search moved to the bottom navigation with a consistent glass treatment, making it easier to reach and faster to use
- 🧭 iPad windowing and menu bar support added for iPadOS 26 so users can move through Slack even more efficiently
Our iPhone and iPad users choose Apple’s ecosystem for its quality, polish, and seamlessness. They expect applications to feel intuitive and thoughtfully designed. You’ll notice Slack feels like it belongs on iOS 26, while still feeling like Slack.
Built for how you work
Designing for iOS is not only about adopting a new look. It is about supporting the way people actually work on their phones. Most mobile work happens in motion: answering a DM in the hallway, reviewing a doc while on the road, checking in with your team between customer meetings. Speed and clarity matter most. You need to find what you’re looking for quickly, respond without friction, and stay in the flow. We shaped this update around real mobile habits: one-handed navigation, quick glances, fast replies, and short bursts of focused work.
You will recognize familiar Slack elements, such as themes, expressive interfaces, emoji, and a friendly tone, remain. Liquid Glass frames them in a way that feels natural to iOS, with controls that only appear when needed. The experience stays familiar but now feels easier to use when you are juggling multiple tasks or moving through your day.
By relying on Apple’s native components, our teams spend less time rebuilding the basics and more time refining the moments that matter: writing a message, finding what you need, sharing a file, jumping into a canvas, or catching up on a thread. The result is less friction, more flow, and an app that feels intuitive from the moment you open it.
Every improvement supports faster, more confident action on mobile, whether you are clearing out quick tasks or preparing for something more important.
Search anything, wherever you are
Mobile work often happens in small windows of time, and searching for information in those moments needs to feel instant and effortless. When you are walking into a customer meeting, riding between sites, or jumping between conference rooms, you rarely have time to click through menus or remember exactly where something lives. You want to ask, “What was the last escalation for Acme?” or “Summarize today’s incident channel,” and get an answer right away. This update focuses on giving you that speed when you only have seconds to get caught up.
With iOS 26 moving the global search control to the bottom of the screen, we brought Slack search into that same thumb-friendly zone. One tap opens up your work. The next time you’re looking for an answer while you’re walking, you’ll notice you can pull up the important context you need without slowing down.
Slack Enterprise Search brings everything your company knows into one place. Messages, canvases, files, customer records, and data from connected apps form a unified, permission-aware knowledge base. The more your team works in Slack, the richer that corpus becomes, and the easier it is to ask a natural language question and instantly find the message, file, or system record you need. For mobile-first workers, this eliminates the scavenger hunt and gives you the information you need exactly when you need it.
Search in Slack goes beyond finding old messages. It is the entry point into your work: channels, DMs, canvases, files and your AI tools. By putting Enterprise Search in a dedicated bottom tab, we are setting things up so that with one tap you can ask Slackbot or another agent to surface the right thread, summarize a discussion, or spin up a canvas to prep for a meeting. The result is a mobile workflow that delivers immediacy: ask a question, get context, take action, and move forward.
Looking ahead
Early feedback has been encouraging. Customers have told us Slack feels “at home” on iOS 26 and fits more naturally into how they already use their iPhone and iPad. That is the experience we aimed to build: an enterprise-grade work app that feels native to iOS while still unmistakably Slack.
This foundation is already shaping what comes next. The new design system gives us the flexibility to unlock things like landscape support (coming soon) so you can take advantage of wider layouts with more room for content. It also positions us to deliver easier, more consistent access to AI agents across the app. These updates help us move faster toward Slack as the agentic work operating system, giving our customers a mobile experience with answers and actions always close at hand.
We are proud to work with Apple on this next step and even more proud to bring a new era of Slack to the devices our users love most.

Expanding Global Data Residency: Switzerland, UAE, and Brazil Now Available
Slack expands data residency with three new regions—Switzerland, UAE and Brazil—letting teams choose where data is stored to meet regulatory requirements. The update broadens regional options while reinforcing enterprise security and compliance.
Slack customers can now choose from even more regional options to meet their data residency and compliance requirements
By the team at Slack
November 3rd, 2025Good news! We’ve expanded Slack’s data residency program with three new regions: Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Brazil. Data residency allows customers to choose where their data is stored, making it easier to comply with corporate or regulatory standards. This is especially important for regulated industries like healthcare, finance, and public sector organizations.
By default, Slack data is stored in the United States. However, global organisations are creating their own internal policies for where data can be stored. Additionally, governments and third-party regulators are increasingly enforcing data residency requirements. To bridge this gap and make Slack available to more teams in highly regulated sectors, we’re continuing to expand our data residency options.
Data residency regions currently available outside the U.S. include:
- Brazil
- Frankfurt
- India
- London
- Montreal
- Paris
- Singapore
- Switzerland
- Sydney
- Tokyo
- United Arab Emirates (UAE)
How Slack keeps your data secure
Data residency is the latest example of Slack’s continued investment on enterprise-grade security and compliance. Slack meets and exceeds some of the most broadly recognized security standards and offers tools to help customers address their compliance requirements.
Slack’s security program certifies its service with ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, SOC 2 Type II, SOC 3, and Cloud Security Alliance. Slack also helps customers to meet specific industry regulations or international security and data privacy standards, including FINRA, HIPAA, FedRAMP and GDPR.

What if managing your customer data was as easy as having a conversation?
Last week, we unveiled the next generation of Salesforce experiences — powered by AI agents, tailored by line of business, and delivered natively in Slack. For sales teams, this means less time managing data and more time building relationships. For employee service, it puts AI on the front line of support to resolve requests faster. With Slack as the conversational interface for Salesforce, your most critical enterprise data meets you right where you work.
For too long, technology has required us to speak its language — filling out forms, switching between tabs, navigating complex interfaces, and manually transferring data. Now, thanks to AI, technology finally speaks our language. That’s why we’re reimagining the very nature of how we work, starting with the core of every business: CRM. By making Salesforce conversational, we are creating a single place where your teams, data, and AI work together instantly to move the business forward. Here’s how.
Your CRM, now in Slack
Slack is where you collaborate, search across your enterprise apps, and automate work with AI. Now we’re extending that power to your customer data, making CRM a seamless part of your team’s day and eliminating context switching.
Talk to Sales Agent in Slack just like your most informed, effective teammate.
- The new native Salesforce app is your command center, anchored in the Slack sidebar. It’s one place to search records, receive critical alerts, review your Salesforce lists, and update records in real time, turning multi-step CRM tasks into instant action. And with live data via Tableau Next embedded directly in Slack, it’s easier than ever to act on a shareable, interactive view of your key metrics right in the flow of work.
- Salesforce channels connect conversations directly to customer data. Here, teams have a dedicated place to collaborate with a full view of the customer or project at hand, to make faster, more informed decisions. And with AI-powered summaries of related conversations happening across Slack centralized in every Salesforce channel, it’s easy to stay up to date on all the latest activity related to your customer or project.
- Agentforce joins the conversation with autonomous AI agents that work with you in Slack. Think of Agentforce as your smartest teammate, one that knows your entire business. With trusted, secure access to your Salesforce data and the context from your conversations, these agents can offer suggestions and take action for you. Agents help every employee work more effectively and quickly — all grounded in a complete, searchable history of data and discussions.
- Finding answers at work shouldn’t be a scavenger hunt, and Agentforce Channel Expert ensures it never is. Embedded directly in Slack channels and powered by real-time Slack search and your connected documents of choice, it acts as an always-on teammate that instantly provides personalized answers. Whether it’s HR, IT, or Sales, every team gets prompt answers without having to search through documents or wait for a colleague to respond. With Channel Expert, every channel becomes a living, interactive knowledge hub, empowering teams to move faster and freeing experts to focus on more-strategic work. Channel Expert is available now to Agentforce in Slack customers, and takes just a few clicks to add to any channel.
“We have a goal that 100% of sellers never have to directly enter data in our CRM but only interface via an agent deployed in Slack.”
Armed with these powerful capabilities, teams across functions have what they need to transform how they operate, with experiences purpose-built by line of business.
Agentforce Sales in Slack
Agentforce transforms the sales process from a series of disjointed tasks into a real-time, conversational engine for growth.
- Manage your book of business. Instead of managing a backlog of meeting notes, reps can simply ask their Sales agent to update their pipeline right after every meeting, from any device. When CRM is this effortless, reps get more time back to focus on what they do best: selling.
- Break down silos and sell as a team. In dedicated opportunity channels, the entire team can strategize on a deal around a single, shared view of the customer. Agentforce joins them, instantly surfacing insights so the whole team can make smarter, faster decisions together.
- Coach with precision, in real time. Managers can scan their team’s account lists and ask Agentforce to summarize progress or flag at-risk deals. This gives them a live pulse on their business to offer targeted coaching where the team is already collaborating, not days later.
When your CRM becomes an intelligent, effortless part of daily discussions, the result is a sales organization that is more connected, more informed, and empowered to win faster.
Agentforce IT and HR Service Management in Slack
Great work starts with a great employee experience. But too often, getting internal support is a maze of portals and tickets. We’re modernizing that model with a single, intelligent front door for all employee needs, whether they need IT or HR support, right in Slack.
- Give employees instant help with zero friction. Agentforce acts as the first line of support, instantly resolving common requests like password resets or guiding people through onboarding, all through simple conversation. Employees get immediate answers without ever leaving the flow of work.
- Pull IT and HR out of ticket queues and into strategic work. By automating high-volume requests, support teams are freed to focus on strategic work. When human expertise is needed, experts can swarm on complex issues, like incidents or an urgent payroll problem, in a dedicated channel. Agentforce is there to assist by surfacing resolutions from similar issues in the past and documenting a summary of the resolution directly in the record.
By replacing clunky portals with a single, conversational interface, you create an effortless employee experience and empower your support team to focus on the higher-impact work that keeps the entire organization productive.
Why it matters
Bringing your CRM and AI into the natural flow of conversation eliminates the productivity tax of context switching. This unified, native experience is the fastest way to turn insight into action. Because Agentforce has access to your Salesforce data in the context of your team’s dialogue, you can go beyond simply surfacing information and start taking intelligent action — all where your team is already working.
This new way of working delivers a greater return on your most critical technology investments. When your CRM becomes an effortless part of the day, you get the high-quality data needed to move your business forward, unlocking a new level of performance from your entire organization.

Partners can now build AI apps and agents that unlock organizational knowledge while maintaining enterprise security and governance
Leading companies like Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, Writer, and others have launched new AI agents in the Slack Marketplace. Slack's new real-time search API and Model Context Protocol server give developers secure access to conversational data.
The future of work is here, and it’s agentic. AI agents are essential for getting things done efficiently, but in order for them to be effective, they need context. The richest context comes from the everyday conversations happening within your team.
Think about it: Your team’s most valuable insights, decisions, and ideas are often shared in discussions. This conversational data is a goldmine, yet it’s frequently locked away, difficult for people to search and impossible to access for tools designed to help.
We recently announced the next evolution of the Slack platform, giving partners and developers the tools they need to build powerful AI apps and agents. These are securely connected to the rich, customer-owned and -controlled conversational data in Slack.
Both the new Real-Time Search (RTS) API and new Model Context Protocol (MCP) server provide secure, flexible, and agent-ready access to conversational data. This rich context empowers agents to move beyond generic responses, enabling context-aware, user-specific conversations. AI becomes more relevant, more accurate, and far more powerful in boosting productivity.
Leading companies — including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, Writer, Dropbox, Notion, Cognition, Vercel, Cursor — have built new AI and agent app experiences using these innovations. Look for these powerful apps and agents coming soon to the Slack Marketplace.
Slack is the natural home for modern AI apps and agents
Slack is the natural home for modern AI apps and agents.
The average enterprise juggles over 1,000 applications, leading to employees wasting countless hours copying, pasting, and context switching, draining productivity by up to 40%. It’s a frustrating reality for users, and it results in nearly half of SaaS licenses going unused.
But what if there was a better way? Imagine a seller simply asking an agent to update CRM records, an employee resolving an IT issue without filing a ticket, or a marketing leader analyzing campaign performance without pulling a single report.
By unifying your tech stack with AI apps and agents in Slack, you’re not just making work easier for your teams, you’re maximizing the return on your entire IT investment. That’s why Slack is the 2% of your IT budget that amplifies the other 98%.
- Unlock unstructured data: Enhance your AI agents with access to your team’s discussions and files (with permissions, of course), giving you personalized, relevant insights right in Slack. Teams save an average of 97 minutes a week using existing data intelligently and securely.
- Accelerate decision-making: Connect all app data, like Agentforce Sales, Asana, or Workday, with Slack conversations to provide complete context, enhancing search and AI for faster insights and action. This results in 37% faster decision-making across teams and 36% faster responses to customers.
- Boost productivity: Build your AI and agents directly into Slack, unifying your tech stack. This means fewer clicks, less wasted time, and more focus on work, all from the place where your conversations are already happening.
- Drive app adoption: Bring all your apps and agents where you and your team already work, enabling them to use all their tools in a single place.
- Stay secure and compliant: Keep your data protected with enterprise-grade security, robust privacy features, and granular permissions, providing a secure foundation for collaboration.
“The best work happens when context and execution aren’t separate. With Notion AI and Slack together, teams can turn every conversation into action.”
Powering trusted, context-aware AI
We know one size does not fit all. That’s why the Slack platform is built for flexibility and extensibility, allowing you to integrate all your apps, data, and agents. Our platform enhancements power agentic AI, making it easy for developers and partners to build powerful, custom agents tailored to your unique needs. These agents securely access rich, contextual conversational data directly within Slack, significantly boosting productivity. With built-in security, we are dedicated to safeguarding your Slack data and providing the tools you need to develop robust AI apps and agents with secure access and retrieval on your terms.
The RTS API and MCP server provide secure data access on your terms for developers and third parties:
- The RTS API gives apps real-time access to one of your company’s most valuable assets: the rich, conversational data within Slack. By surfacing the most current discussions, files, and channels, the RTS API empowers AI to act on information in context. It unlocks your organization’s collective intelligence, securely connecting agents to conversations once trapped in silos. Crucially, the RTS API is designed with enterprise security at its core. Tools interact with conversational data without needing to bulk-download it or store it elsewhere, respecting existing access permissions and retrieving only the specific messages or files relevant to a query. The result: AI agents get the precise, contextual information they need — nothing more, nothing less.
- The MCP server takes it a step further by simplifying and standardizing how large language models (LLMs), AI apps, and agents discover contextual information and execute tasks on behalf of Slack users, reducing complexity for developers. With its unified communication layer between the LLM and Slack, the server establishes a universal way for AI systems to connect to data sources and tools. Fragmented integrations are replaced with a single, consistent protocol that adheres to the user’s specific permissions. Developers don’t have to write code to define every possible task an agent can perform or implement complex, service-specific integrations for each LLM or external service.
In addition, the Slack platform continues to advance the fundamental building blocks available to admins and developers with new innovations:
- Slack work objects: Developers can now build apps with dynamic, interactive previews directly within Slack. Work objects standardize how third-party data appears, providing detailed information, images, and documents in Slack and eliminating the need to switch applications. This deep integration gives AI agents greater context, improving their ability to find information and act quickly and accurately. We launched partner integrations with Google Drive, OneDrive, Asana, PagerDuty, Box, and Highspot in August.
- Enhanced developer toolkit: Developers have everything they need to build and customize Slack for their business. From apps and agents to automated workflows, new capabilities include AI best practices, prebuilt Block Kit Tables, and updated resources like the CLI for Bolt apps. These upgrades streamline the entire development lifecycle, from the first line of code to the finished end-user experience, making it easier than ever to build for the agentic era.
“Businesses today conduct their most important conversations across multiple Slack channels, creating a wealth of institutional knowledge that hasn’t been accessible to AI assistants like Claude. Slack’s Real-Time Search API changes that — Claude can now draw context from your team’s actual discussions to provide answers grounded in your real work, then deliver those insights directly back into your workflow. This integration enables Claude to provide trusted intelligence that’s aligned with how your team actually operates.”

- Dropbox Dash: Dropbox Dash uses our RTS API to deliver instant insights across both Slack and Dropbox Dash. Instead of dealing with the friction of switching between apps, you can stay focused on what matters most: doing your best work.
- Notion: The Notion AI Slack app allows you to ask questions about threads, conversations, or updates you might have missed.
