    Instagram Liking

You can now like Instagram comments, replies, feed posts, and reels directly from Sprout's Smart Inbox. No more switching to native Instagram to acknowledge and engage with your audience.

When viewing messages in the Smart Inbox, you'll see a heart icon available on Instagram comments and media posted to your connected profiles. Tap the like icon to instantly like the content, or tap again to unlike. This works for comments and replies on your own posts, as well as your own comments on other threads.

To use this feature, you'll need to reconnect your Instagram Business or Creator profile in Sprout to grant the updated permissions. Once reconnected, the Like action will appear automatically in the Smart Inbox for eligible content.

Please note: Liking is available only for content on your own Instagram posts and your own comments. It is not available for content on posts you don't own, Instagram Stories, or content from private accounts.

Add Trending Audio to your Instagram Reels in Sprout!

On high-volume video platforms like Instagram, audio isn't just background noise — it's a discovery tool. We’re excited to announce that you can now add trending audio to your Instagram Reels directly from Sprout's Compose window!

Browse Instagram's Commercial Music library or search Original Audio to find the perfect track, preview it, adjust volume levels, and attach it to your Reel — all without leaving Sprout.

Add More Instagram Collaborators in Compose

Teamwork makes the dream work, and now your Instagram posts can reflect that. Previously limited to 3 collaborators, you can now invite up to 5 collaborator profiles per post in Sprout, matching the native experience in Instagram.

Whether you’re tagging brand partners or influencers, you now have more flexibility to amplify your reach and give credit where it’s due.

    Listening Demographics Tab Deprecation

Starting August 3, 2026, the Demographics tab has been removed from all current and future Listening Topics.

In early 2026, X removed message-level location data from its API. As a result, the Locations Map and Locations Overview widgets within Listening Topics have shown little to no data since. Due to the fact that no other supported social network currently provides message-level location data at scale, Sprout has made the decision to remove this tab in Listening.

    What's changed

    • The Demographics tab in Listening Topics has been removed as of August 3, 2026
    • The Locations Map and Locations Overview widgets previously available in this tab were removed with no replacement.
    • Profile Overview has moved to the Conversation tab, where it remains fully functional.

Please note: this change affects all Listening customers with Topics access and is not unique to Sprout; it reflects an industry-wide API limitation affecting all social listening vendors.

    • Add up to 50 custom buttons to your SproutLink page, each with its own display text and destination URL.
    • Add clickable social media icons for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and more — making it easy for your audience to find and follow you everywhere.

Sprout Social adds smarter Guardian defaults with automatic Data Masking and Blocked Words for new and unconfigured accounts, plus editable profanity templates so admins can tailor, duplicate, or delete keywords to fit their brand.

Guardian: Strategic Defaults & Editable Profanity Templates

Guardian now comes with smarter out-of-the-box defaults: Data Masking (email, SSN, credit card, phone number) and Blocked Words (English and Spanish profanity lists) are enabled automatically for new and unconfigured accounts, so you're protected from day one. Blocked messages are routed for approval rather than blocked outright.

Admins can also now fully edit, delete, and duplicate keywords in Sprout's default profanity lists to better fit your brand's needs. Existing customers who have already configured these settings won't be affected. Review your settings anytime in Blocked Words and Data Masking.

Sprout Social adds bulk tag management optimizations that make large tag libraries easier to organize. Admins can move multiple tags between groups, control how group changes apply, search groups faster, create tags in multiple groups, and see a clearer delete flow.

    Tag Management Optimizations

Managing a large tag library just got a lot easier. We've introduced a set of bulk optimization tools that reduce the manual effort of organizing tags, so admins can spend less time on tag housekeeping and more time on strategy.

    New capabilities:

    • Bulk move tags to groups — Select multiple tags and move them into one or more groups in a single, streamlined workflow.
    • Control how group changes apply — When moving tags to new groups, choose to keep them in their current groups and add the new ones, or remove them from current groups and move exclusively to the new ones.
    • Modernized delete experience — The updated delete tag flow clearly shows the consequences of deletion before you confirm, so there are no surprises.

    Easier than before:

    • Group search — Search the groups list directly from the Tag Management header instead of scrolling to find the right one.
    • Multi-group selection when creating tags — Select multiple groups at once when creating a new tag — the dropdown stays open between selections.

These updates are available to all customers on Professional, Advanced, and Enterprise plans. Users need the Manage Tags permission to access the Tag Management page. Managing tag collections requires the Manage Tag Collections permission (Advanced+).

Check out this article for more information on managing tags in Sprout.
