New: Paragraph Style Folders now available

Paragraph Style Folders now available

You can now create folders to help organize your paragraph styles. This helps manage large style guides and can provide context for style collections.

Style folders can be found and managed from the style guide editor as well as the styles panel. Folders can be renamed and deleted to help improve organization over time. Deleting a folder will provide the option whether to delete only the folder itself or also delete the styles within as well, allowing a bulk delete action for a set of styles.

Carbon

Import custom emission factors for your region and reporting methodology

Now you can import emission factors or add them individually when the factors you need aren't available in Workiva Carbon yet. Unlike custom sources, custom factors can be broken down by constituent gases, used across multiple locations, support location-based and market-based calculations, and include more transparency for auditing. New custom factors live on a dedicated page in your Company profile. To learn more, view Add custom factors.

CDP 2026 is available now

The CDP 2026 reporting framework is available in Workiva Carbon, replacing CDP 2025. Quantitative CDP metrics, including operational boundary, emissions, energy, waste, and water data, are now natively supported in Carbon. Export them directly or send them straight to your CDP portal via our API to simplify your disclosure workflow. For 2026, question 7.15.1 now includes Scope 2; all other questions remain unchanged from 2025. To learn more, view Workiva Carbon reporting module.

Charts

New: Support for stacked area and 100% area/bar charts

We’ve added more flexibility to your data visualizations! You can now easily convert your standard stacked charts into 100% stacked charts. You can show labels as absolute values or as percentages, depending on what best tells your data's story

• Toggle to 100% stack: Switch your existing stacked charts to a percent stack in your chart properties.
• Flexible data labels: Choose exactly how you want to display your data.

Controls Management, Internal Controls for Financial Reporting

New shapes in flowchart editor

The following shapes have been added as available shapes for flowcharts in the flowchart editor:

Workiva AI

Longer conversations, better memory now available in in Workiva AI

Workiva AI can now maintain context across much longer conversations.

Previously, in extended sessions Workiva AI could lose track of details discussed earlier — decisions you'd made, specific values you'd referenced, or the direction the work was heading. Now, as a conversation grows, Workiva AI automatically retains a running summary of your earlier exchanges alongside your most recent messages. The result is that it stays oriented throughout the session, even in long, multi-step reporting and compliance workflows.

What this means for you:

• Facts, decisions, and identifiers you share early in a conversation — revenue figures, entity names, filing references, XBRL tags — carry forward reliably as the session continues.
• You can work through complex, multi-step tasks without needing to re-explain context you've already established.
• Long sessions feel more coherent. Workiva AI knows where you've been, not just where you are.

This improvement is automatic — there is nothing to configure and no change to how you interact with Workiva AI.

Adopt audit-ready emission factors with Hybrid method V2

With Hybrid methodology V2, your emissions calculations for purchased goods and services use the most up-to-date methodology and include visibility into the source data. Spend-based emission factors are applied at the organization-level based on CDP’s publicly available emissions and revenue data.

It’s recommended to update to V2 for any years that you haven’t publicly reported yet. V1 will continue to be available for years prior to 2026. To update to V2, view Measure purchases.

Chains

Chain blueprint download now available

The Chain Blueprint Download feature allows Chain Security Admins or Workspace Admins who have access to a chain to download a record version of that chain as a JSON-format file. This allows them to track changes in Chains using standard change-management practices and tools to identify what changed from a previous version, validating approved scope, and retaining audit evidence.

To create the JSON file, the chain is dynamically reconstructed from source database records and includes: command groups, commands, Chain events, variables, dynamic variables, trigger information, notifications, and outputs. The JSON file does not include vault-backed secret values, vault key paths, or any other encrypted fields, nor does it contain placeholders for any of these values.

Sustainability

Create metric tasks for multiple collection periods at once

To help ease data collection in Sustainability Program, you can now create tasks for multiple metric values and collection periods at once. From the metric, either:

• From Values, choose the values to create tasks for — regardless of their period — then select Create task from Edit values.
• From Tasks, select All periods in Collection period, then click Create task.

Depending on the values selected, this may create multiple tasks with the same assignment details:

• A separate task for each value with a connected source file
• A separate task for each collection period, which includes the period's values not collected through source files

After you create the tasks, you can edit their assignment details as necessary, such as to adjust due dates based on the respective collection period.

Explore revised European Sustainability Reporting Standards

If your Sustainability Explorer includes the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), you can now explore the revised Standards as formally adopted by the European Commission (EC) in July 2026.

In the Frameworks panel:

• The revised ESRS appear as a Pending version.
• The ESRS Delegated Act from 2023 remains the Current version.
• The simplified ESRS — formerly a "Draft" version — now appear as Archived.

The revised ESRS officially apply for financial years that start on or after January 1, 2027.

For 2026, you can:

• Fully adopt the revised Standards early.
• Continue to apply the current ESRS — either as amended by Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/1416, or with targeted reliefs defined in Annex 1 of the revised ESRS.

Tasks

Search and filter improvements in Tasks

Search results in Tasks now use fuzzy matching, which means that you no longer need to type an exact phrase to find what you’re looking for. Instead, you’ll see results that closely match your search term, in addition to exact matches. Because you can now filter by task title entirely from the search bar, setting a filter on the “Task” column has been removed.

Note: To keep search results accurate, custom column sorting is disabled while a search is active.

Chains

Tableau connector "HTTP read" timeout is now configurable

In the Tableau connector, you can now set the HTTP read time out value. This value must be an integer (1,2,3,…) greater than 0, and the default is 180. The maximum value is 2,147,483,647, or approximately 68 years.

Spreadsheets

AI Companion Update: Smarter Table Insert

When inserting AI-generated tables directly into your spreadsheets, you now have total control over how your formulas behave. AI Companion automatically detects formulas and gives you placement options to prevent broken data.

Standard Tables: If your table has no formulas, you'll see the standard, single-click
Insert button to keep things clean.

Tables with Formulas: The
Insert button automatically turns into a split-dropdown with two choices:

• Shift formula references: (Default) Automatically adjusts cell references relative to where the table is pasted so your formulas stay active and accurate.
• Do not shift formula references: Locks the original cell references exactly as written, regardless of where the table lands.

XBRL

Text Wrapping Option In XBRL Fact Details Panel

You can now wrap all text appearing in the XBRL fact details panel. This is helpful to ensure that long concept names can be viewed without getting cut off.

You enable this option by selecting the triangle in the
Fact Details panel menu bar and then marking (checking) the "Enable Text Wrap" button. Once enabled, the setting will persist for each user.

New Buildings data ledger with non-Kyoto emissions

Similar to other categories, you can now get a more detailed view of how Building activity data contribute to your total emissions. Go to Measure and select Buildings to view row-level emissions by date, location, scope, category, and more. You can filter and sort, customize columns, and export either the full dataset or a filtered view. To learn more, view Workiva Carbon data ledgers.

If you use emission factor library V4.1, the Buildings data ledger also includes a column for non-Kyoto emissions, labeled as “Out of scope”. This aligns with the GHG Protocol which requires an emissions inventory to include GHGs covered by the Kyoto Protocol (CO2, CH4, N2O, HFCs, PFCs, SF6, and NF3) and to report them separately from primary GHG Scopes. To see your outside of scope Non-Kyoto emissions, select emission factor library V4.1 and request a recalculation. To learn about the recalculation process, view Request recalculated emissions.

Documents

Visual update when scrolling through large tables

Multi-page, heavily formatted tables will now show grey "loading" cells when scrolling quickly throughout a document directly after table activation until table content and formatting is fully loaded. This will increase performance and speed of tables loading, while giving a visual indicator that the table/cell has not fully loaded.

Sustainability

Explore IFRS 2025 and SASB 2025-12 revisions

If your Sustainability Explorer includes the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards or Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) content, you can now explore the Amendments to Greenhouse Gas Emissions Disclosures issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in December 2025.

These amendments help address challenges identified with the measurement and disclosure of Scope 3 Category 15 financed emissions:

• The IFRS 2025 amendments affect only IFRS S2: Climate-related Disclosures.
• In SASB 2025-12 revisions affect technical protocols for three industries in the Financials sector — Asset Management & Custody Activities (FN-AC), Commercial Banks (FN-CB), and Insurance (FN-IN). To learn more, view Adopt Sustainability Accounting Standards Board revisions.

These amendments are effective January 2027, but early adoption is permitted. In mandated jurisdictions, the amendments may require local regulatory adoption before they take effect; consult your local regulator before you apply any reliefs.

Export CDP Questionnaire responses to Document

From Sustainability Explorer, you can create a CDP Questionnaire to collaborate on responses and update your 2026 CDP submission, directly from your Sustainability Reporting workspace. For further collaboration, you can now contact Workiva Support to request an export of the questions' responses and statuses to a Document.

For example, from this Document, you can:

• Enable a holistic review of responses before you update your CDP submission.
• Review changes as responses evolve in the CDP Questionnaire.
• Automate responses' edits or approvals from the Processes or Tasks panel.

Before you request an export, a Workspace Owner or Organization Admin must first create an API grant for the export. When you request the export from Workiva Support, provide the URL to a secured Workiva Document that contains the grant's credentials and the URL of your CDP Questionnaire.

Emission factor library V4.1 includes NAICS-level factors and non-Kyoto emissions

With version 4.1, you can choose more granular emission factors for your spend-based calculations from NAICS-6 commodity-level. Earlier versions of the library include factors from BEA Summary Industry-level v1.1.1, v1.2.3, v1.3, and v1.4.

Also in version 4.1, Kyoto and non-Kyoto GWP values for fugitive emissions (fire suppressants and refrigerants) published by the UK DBEIS have replaced values from the US EPA, The Climate Registry, and 3M. In previous versions of the library, GWP values for blended gases exclude the non-Kyoto component of the gas.

This allows Canadian customers to log in using a Canada-specific domain.

AI external link security interstitial

Workiva AI now helps protect you when opening links to external websites.

When you select a link in Workiva AI, links to trusted Workiva domains (including workiva.com and wdesk.com) open as usual. If you select a link to an external website, you'll see a confirmation dialog before the page opens. The dialog displays the full destination URL so you can verify where the link will take you before choosing Open site or Cancel.

This added security helps reduce the risk of malicious or misleading links, including links generated through prompt injection attacks, while preserving the existing Workiva experience for trusted internal links.

Cross-workspace copy now offers option to maintain permissions

When copying content (e.g. files or folders) to another workspace within the same Organization, you can choose to maintain those permissions in the copy. Selecting Copy permissions from the source workspace applies the same level of permissions for any users that are in both the Source Workspace and Destination Workspaces.

Constraints

• No other cross-workspace behaviors change with this addition.
• The copied file or folder is a separate instance, and has no links to the original file or folder.
• Any users not in the Destination Workspace are ignored; they are not added nor granted permission.
• Group permissioning is not available.
• The person making the copy becomes the sole owner in the Destination Workspace. They can then choose to manually open up permissions to the appropriate groups after the copy.
• Only workspace owners with viewer permission to all the relevant content are able to kick off cross-workspace copies otherwise known as "moves".

Create a CDP Questionnaire tailored to your 2026 submission

From Sustainability Explorer, you can now create a CDP Questionnaire tailored to your 2026 submission with CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project). From the Questionnaire, you can collaborate with other members of your workspace to prepare responses for 2026 CDP disclosures:

• Review CDP's guidance for each question, including response options and scoring criteria.
• Identify related metrics in Sustainability Program and access values collected for responses.
• Discuss questions' responses and guidance with collaborators as comments.
• Set status of questions to track progress or indicate intentional omissions.
• Set permissions to the Questionnaire and its modules to ensure appropriate collaborator access.

When questions are ready, Questionnaire Owners can update the corresponding responses and status in the CDP Portal, directly from your workspace's CDP Questionnaire.

To get started:

• Set up your 2026 submission in the CDP Portal.
• Click Create questionnaire in Sustainability Explorer.

The Questionnaire automatically includes your company's 2026 questions and responses from the CDP Portal.

Tip: If this is your company's first year using the CDP Questionnaire in Sustainability Explorer, add "Workiva" as your software provider in the CDP Portal to generate the CDP API ID needed to create your company's Questionnaire.

New: Multi row & column insert is now available in sheets and tables

You can now insert multiple, non-adjacent rows & columns in sheets and tables. Rows and columns can be inserted either before or after the selected row or column. This also allows you to shift columns to the right or rows down.

To perform a multi-insert, hold Ctrl/Cmd to select multiple rows or columns, then right-click on the selection and select Insert. The available insert options are then displayed.

Tracked changes now available in DOCX Export

Tracked changes can now be included in DOCX exports! With differences between how Workiva and DOCX function, there is certain functionality that may differ. For example, floating object insertions do will not show as newly added (content within "Show with tracked changes"), and tables will show as newly inserted.

Note: In this initial release, author and date will not be included in export.

New chart settings

We’ve added more design flexibility to help you tell better stories with your data. Here is what’s new:

• Chart Subtitles: Add extra context directly beneath your primary chart title.
• Rounded Corners: Give your bar, column, and pie charts an update to match your desired designs.

These new enhancements make it easier to get the look and feel you want when representing your data.

Line breaks can now be added to spreadsheets and embedded tables using the following key-press combination:

• CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER. (Windows)
• CMD+SHIFT+ENTER (macOS).

To help ensure compliant disclosures for the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) or International Financial Reporting Standards Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS SDS), you can now use the Sustainability Disclosure Agent.

With this agent, you can prompt Workiva AI with a draft disclosure and the specific requirements it should address; in response, Workiva AI provides:

• Compliance scorecard – to help identify gaps in the draft disclosure based on the provided requirements.
• Action items – with guidance on how resolve any gaps identified.
• Disclosure narrative – with a compliance-ready response based on provided content and requirements.

To use the Sustainability Disclosure Agent:

• Highlight the draft disclosure within your Document.
• Select Draft disclosure from Workiva AI's Quick edits.

Workiva AI

Microsoft Azure Model Upgrade

Workiva AI is upgrading the model we provide via Microsoft Azure from OpenAI's ChatGPT 4.1 to ChatGPT 5.4. This is now the default in the US and EU regions. AWS-Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Gemini 2.5 Flash remain the default models for the APAC region. This model upgrade will improve intelligence and performance. The change will be done automatically and there are no actions required from the user. The Knowledge Cutoff date of this model is August 2025.

Draft Workiva AI-assisted disclosures for ESRS and IFRS SDS with the Sustainability Disclosure Agent

Audit Testing Add-in for Excel

The Audit Testing Add-in for Excel enables connected attribute-based testing between Microsoft Excel and Workiva, with conclusions and testing details automatically reflected in Workiva. With the Audit Testing Add-in, you can:

• Download a copy of your original evidence to mark up that links to the workpaper and attributes.
  View attributes for one or more samples and explicitly set conclusions as Pass, Fail, or Not Applicable.
• Place attribute indicators (Excel Notes) on cells or ranges to document how evidence supports each conclusion.
• Associate testing with specific samples within a file.
• Automatically record authorship of attribute indicators.
• Work with large, complex Excel files in their native format
• Automatically send attribute conclusions to the Workiva testing matrix and sync changes to the Excel file to Workiva

The import workflow creates all the requests and allows for those to be reviewed and sent individually or in bulk. A new advanced table option is now available on table formats in Documents, Presentations and Spreadsheets. This option will allow users to align accounting and percent column gutters. When selecting (and unselecting) this option, alignment will change. When turned on, accounting and percent value formatted cells in the same column will adjust based on their symbol, suffix, negative parenthesis, and more.
This option will default to being checked (active), and the option will be maintained on rollforward.

To access this setting in a document:

• Select the File tab.
• Click Properties, and select Document > Table formats.
• Align Accounting and Percent Column Gutters is located under Advanced Options.

We’ve made it much easier to keep your styling on brand with enhanced management for File Colors, giving you more control and flexibility over your color palette. Here are the two new options this provides:

• Name colors: Give your colors custom names so you and your team always know exactly what they are for, removing the guesswork and ensuring the right tone is used every time.
• Remove and edit individual colors: Remove and edit individual colors in your File Colors to efficiently keep your color palette aligned with your brand.

Spreadsheets

New advanced table option: Align Accounting and Percent Column Gutters

A new advanced table option is now available on table formats in Documents, Presentations and Spreadsheets. This option will allow users to align accounting and percent column gutters. When selecting (and unselecting) this option, alignment will change. When turned on, accounting and percent value formatted cells in the same column will adjust based on their symbol, suffix, negative parenthesis, and more.
This option will default to being checked (active), and the option will be maintained on rollforward.

To access this setting in a spreadsheet:

• Select the File tab.
• Click Properties, and select Spreadsheet > Formats.
• Align Accounting and Percent Column Gutters is located under Advanced Options.

Prompt Workiva AI with Simplified ESRS Intelligence

To have Workiva AI help clarify the complexities of the simplified European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), you can add the new Simplified ESRS Intelligence knowledge base. With this knowledge base, you can prompt Workiva AI to summarize and explain the draft simplified Standards and their disclosure requirements, as published by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) in December 2025.
You can continue add the ESRS Intelligence knowledge base to help clarify the ESRS Delegated Act and corrigendum published to the Official Journal in 2024 or help compare and contrast the different versions' requirements.
If your Sustainability Explorer includes the ESRS, you can also view the source content used by Workiva AI to develop its response.

Explore 2026 CDP questionnaire content

To help prepare disclosures to CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project), you can now include the content of 2026 CDP Corporate and Small/Medium Enterprise (SME) questionnaires — all questions, their response options, and scoring criteria — in Sustainability Explorer. To include this content, select 2026 CDP or All frameworks from the Properties panel.
Use this content to help prepare for the 2026 disclosure cycle:

• Browse the questionnaires, and bookmark questions for easy reference throughout the workspace.
• Discuss questions, their responses, and scoring criteria with other workspace members as Comments.
• Align questions with metrics in Sustainability Program that collect related values to help inform responses.

Note that this release only enables the 2026 CDP content in Explorer. The CDP Questionnaire within Explorer will support 2026 responses in a future release, when CDP opens their submission window.

Chains

Chains GroundRunner updated

We updated the Workiva GroundRunner last week to address some small bugs and to make the GroundRunner more maintainable going forward. Existing GroundRunners and their related chains will no longer function after August 17th, 2026.

For most users, no action on your part is required. Your GroundRunner instances will be automatically updated to version 9.21.1.

If your GroundRunner didn't auto-restart after the May 19-20 rollout, it is most likely due to one of two reasons:

• It is installed on a computer that was not active when the rollout happened.
  SOLUTION: When this computer is next back online, it should automatically be updated.
• Your GroundRunner installation did not correctly restart after the update was installed.
  SOLUTION: Follow the instructions in the "What happens if a GroundRunner did not auto-update?" section of the Workiva Support page: Chains GroundRunner update.

If you your GroundRunner did not update to version 9.21.1, please complete the steps listed in the following section.

Manual GroundRunner update

• Manually update your outdated GroundRunners by following the Support document: Manually Update a GroundRunner.
• After updating, verify that the GroundRunner version is 9.21.1.

Connect existing Workiva files and add hyperlinks in General Files

Workpaper preparers and reviewers can now connect existing Workiva files and add hyperlinks directly in a workpaper’s General Files section.

General requests

Requests for General Files makes it easier to collect supporting files directly within a workpaper. General requests let you request files beyond populations and samples, giving teams a more flexible way to gather the documentation they need. After entering the request details, a request task is sent to the assignee, who can then upload the requested file or files directly to the workpaper.

Sample selection

This is a new two-step workflow that lets auditors select evidence samples directly within a workpaper population file. Auditors can clean up data by hiding irrelevant rows and columns, and then select samples using random, judgmental, or filtered methods with a full audit trail logged automatically.

Carbon

Control unmapped spend in Purchases

To ensure your total emissions are accurate for purchased goods and services, you can now control how Workiva Carbon manages your unmapped spend (transactions that haven't been assigned to a specific commodity, supplier, or emissions override).

Workiva Carbon data ledgers

Get a more detailed view of how emission-generating activity data contribute to your total emissions with new data ledgers. Go to Measure and select Vehicles, People, Waste, Water, or Custom to view a new ledger. Each ledger includes individual records by date, location, scope, emission category, and other attributes. You’ll find emissions at the row level and a new column for biogenic emissions. You can filter and sort, customize columns, and export either the full dataset or a filtered view.

Bulk create population requests

Users can now bulk create population requests by uploading an Excel file in the Requests tab on a project. The import workflow creates all the requests and allows for those to be reviewed and sent individually or in bulk.

New lists

Three new lists have been released! These lists are primarily to support users in APAC and include Chinese Financial Formal Numerals, Enclosed Numbers and Black Arrowheads (unordered). These lists will be visible in the default list dropdown and can be included in custom list styles. Chinese Financial Formal Numbers will only be visible when Chinese, Japanese or Korean locales are set on the document.

Note: In existing documents, these lists will need to be added to style guides (either manually or via a style guide import). These lists will automatically be included in any newly created document.

Include Markup available on PDF exports from Document reviews

Exporting a PDF from a Document review now includes the option to include Markup. This option can be found under the Advanced options.
