    Workiva

    Release Notes: November 15 – November 31, 2025

Workiva delivers a multi‑product release with Bulk Replace across Documents, Spreadsheets and Presentations, merged placeholders, bulk link removal, and Sustainability Explorer deprecation version visibility. Wdata now consolidates duplicate key issues and carbon uses a retired supplier proxy method.

A recent release to the Workiva platform included improvements to the following products and features. You can learn more about each item in the sections below.

    Carbon

    Supplier proxy method retired

Where this proxy method was previously applied, calculations for purchased goods and services will now use the spend-based method. This applies when there is no supplier-specific (product-level), supplier-provided (allocated emissions), or override emissions, and the supplier is not mapped.
Previously, the supplier proxy method generated dynamic emission factors based on your supplier mappings at the time of calculation which isn’t aligned with delivering auditable calculations.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Methodologies for Workiva Carbon calculations.

    Documents, Presentations, Spreadsheets

    Bulk Replace now available

Bulk Replace enables you to find and replace multiple instances of a word or phrase across your Workiva Documents, Spreadsheets, and Presentations in a single click, with the flexibility to include or exclude important content types such as Links and Formulas.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Use find and replace.

Consolidation of manual and linked placeholders

When a document includes both a locally created placeholder and a linked placeholder with the same name, they now merge automatically into one unified placeholder. This update removes duplicates from the Placeholders panel and ensures consistent data updates—one connection now refreshes every instance of that placeholder across your document.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Use content placeholders.

Remove all links (Bulk link removal)

You can now remove all source and destination links from a document—or from selected sections—with a single action. Bulk link removal works across all content types, including text, tables, charts, and spreadsheets. Formatting is preserved, and locked sections are skipped automatically. Use this feature to save time, ensure consistency, and prepare documents before publishing or sharing.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Create a link.

    Sustainability

Return version at which Explorer content is deprecated from Query

Queries that use Sustainability Explorer as a source can now include a "Deprecated at version" field to return the version number at which content was deprecated with no new Current version to replace it.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Use Sustainability Explorer content in Query.

    Wdata

Duplicate key issues are now condensed into one issue

Duplicate key issues are now condensed into one issue, with the description containing the number of records impacted and an example of fields containing a duplicate key to help locate the issue.

New: Version 3.1 emission factor library now available.

Version 3.1 emission factor library now available
In Version 3.1, the release year of an emission factor is matched to an entry’s reporting year. This means the most recently released emission factor will be applied to an entry rather than an emission factor calculated off of the same year’s data. Version 3.1 includes all of the same emission factors as Version 3.

Workiva delivers a multi‑product release with bulk uploads for Carbon, scope 3 updates, new account permissions, a stable evidence viewer, presentation rendering fixes, sustainability API enhancements, IFRS/SASB intent in Query, and a redesigned Tasking Home for faster, flexible work.

    EDITED 27 Oct.

    Carbon

    • New: Bulk upload Water and Custom data to Workiva Carbon.
    • Changed: Custom source emissions for franchisor locations now go to scope 3.
    • Improved: New account settings access control permissions.

Bulk upload Water and Custom data to Workiva Carbon

You can now add data for Water and Custom categories by uploading spreadsheets in any format for multiple locations. You’ll get suggestions to help you map the headings and values to fields in Carbon. To make sure the upload is successful, you’ll be guided to fix issues. If you need to take a break, you can save your progress and come back later. To learn more, view Upload data in bulk to Workiva Carbon.
Note: For Custom categories, the unit of measure in the upload needs to match the unit of measure used when the custom source was created.

Custom source emissions for franchisor locations now go to scope 3

Previously, emissions from custom sources that were associated with locations you don’t control were categorized based on the scope of the custom source. This occurred even when the location was set up as an asset or franchise, which would categorize it as scope 3. Now, those emissions are categorized as scope 3.
This change affects new and updated calculations only. If you want to apply this change to previous calculations, contact your CSM to do a reprojection.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Measure custom sources and data.

New account settings access control permissions

7 new permissions are now available for team members with custom roles The new permissions are for company details, vehicles, groups, and data imports. By default, the new permissions will be checked for all existing custom roles.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Manage team member roles and permissions in Workiva Carbon.

New: Support for array formulas, Support for array spilling, and 17 new functions

    Spreadsheets

Array Formula support, Spill, and 17 new functions

We're thrilled to announce that our platform now supports dynamic array formulas, which is capable of automatically spilling results into adjacent cells. This powerful update allows you to write one formula to instantly sort, filter, and perform complex calculations on entire ranges of data, without ever having to drag and fill again.
In addition to arrays formulas and spill, we’ve also added 17 new functions to help you better utilize arrays in Workiva. Here are the new functions:

    • CHOOSECOLS — extract specific columns from a range or array.
    • CHOOSEROWS — extract specific rows from a range or array.
    • COLUMNS — determine the number of columns in a specified array or reference.
    • DROP — remove a specified number of rows or columns from the beginning or end of an array or range.
    • FILTER — extract rows from a range or array that meet specified conditions.
    • HSTACK — to horizontally stack multiple ranges or arrays into a single range.
    • MMULT — calculate the matrix product of two arrays. The MMULT function returns the product of two arrays as a matrix.
    • ROWS — determine the number of rows in a specified array or reference.
    • SEQUENCE — generate a list of sequential numbers in an array.
    • SORT — dynamically sort a range or array by one or more columns in ascending or descending order.
    • TAKE — extract a specified number of rows or columns from the beginning or end of a range or array.
    • TOCOL — an array as a single column.
    • TOROW — an array as a single row.
    • TRANSPOSE — convert a vertical range of cells to a horizontal range, or vice versa.
    • TEXTSPLIT — split text strings into rows and columns based on specified delimiters.
    • UNIQUE — extract a list of unique values in a list or range. Values can be text, numbers, dates, times, etc.
    • VSTACK — vertically stack multiple ranges or arrays into a single range

Please note that to use the new functionality, your document must be using the latest Formula Version (Formula Version 5). You can check which formula version your document is on by reviewing the Properties section in your Spreadsheets, Document, or Presentation. To learn more on how to check your formula version, read Document and section properties.

By default, the majority of documents will be on Formula Version 5. However, if your document is not on Formula Version 5, you can contact support to request to have your file upgrade to the newest formula version. Please note that upgrading your document to Formula Version 5 may change how

    Minor Changes / Bug Fixes

    Minor Changes / Bug Fixes
In addition to the introduction of arrays, spill, and 17 new formulas, Formula Version 5 also brings some minor changes and bug fixes:

    • Fixed a bug in the COUNTIF(S) functions when searching over an unbounded range (e.g. A:A) with a criteria that is satisfied by empty.
    • Fixed a bug in the AND/OR functions when searching a range that has text values that can't be parsed as boolean.
    • Certain functions now more reliably propagate errors that are directly passed as an argument. (SUBTOTAL, HLOOKUP, VLOOKUP)
    • Certain functions that would return a single cell reference now actually return a reference instead of the cell's value. (IF, IFS, CHOOSE, INDEX)
    • Certain functions that couldn't search for blanks in an unbounded range now can do so. (COUNTBLANK, TEXTJOIN)
    • Improvements to the validation logic used to ensure ranges given to *IF(S) functions have compatible sizes.
    • Small tweaks to function argument validation to better match other spreadsheet applications. (example: VLOOKUP’s table_array parameter now requires a range/array)
    • Many functions were updated to treat single cell references the same as range references for consistency. (example: SUMPRODUCT when given a single cell reference to an empty cell.)

When you complete the connection from the file, you can then hover over a metric value to view its connected source file and section.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Connect source Workiva files to Sustainability Program values.

    • New: Import items into Sustainability Program
From a Sustainability Program, you can now generate Spreadsheet templates to add new items 6 such as dimensions, tags, topic, metrics, and metric details 6 in bulk. When you import the templates into the Program, it validates their details and helps resolve any errors before adding the new items.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Import into Sustainability Program.

    • New: View Sustainability Program metric values from all collection periods
You can now select to view values for all collection periods of the Program year from any Sustainability Program metric. Previously, you could view only one period's values at a time.
To learn more, see this Workiva Support page: Connect source Workiva files to Sustainability Program values.

      • modifiedTime = last time the SFTP file was modified
      • mode = file mode
      • remoteFile = path to the remote file (this matches the other output)
      • accessedTime = last time the SFTP file was accessed
    • Sample:
      [ {"modifiedTime":"Wed Sep 10 03:15:15 UTC 2025","size":"60","mode":"-rwxrwxr-x", "remoteFile":"/tmp/somefile.txt","accessedTime":"Wed Sep 10 03:15:15 UTC 2025"},
      {"modifiedTime":"Wed Sep 10 02:37:36 UTC 2025","size":"60","mode":"drwxrwxr-x", "remoteFile":"/tmp/someDir","accessedTime":"Wed Sep 10 02:37:36 UTC 2025"}]
