Processes

"Create a Process" permission now required to create or edit a process

Users must now have the "Create a Process" permission enabled to create or edit a process (for example, as granted by the "Editor" workspace role). Previously users with only the "View a Process" permission (granted by the "Viewer" workspace role) could also create and edit processes.

With this change, be aware that there may be processes where such a creator/owner will no longer be allowed to edit the process. These users will now see an error message when they try to do so, which advises them to ask a Workspace Admin to add the Editor workspace role for them. If that is not an acceptable solution (for example, if that user needs to remain read-only), then the Transfer Process Manager workflow can be used to transfer the process ownership to a user who has the "Create a Process" permission enabled.

Spreadsheets

Bulk approval of tasks

The ability to approve tasks in bulk is now available in Spreadsheets!

This is enabled using a Workspace Setting located under Configuration.

To enable this,

• Navigate to Workspace Settings.
• Select Bulk Approvals in the left navigation area.
• Toggle Bulk Approvals on.

Note: The user also needs multiple approval tasks assigned to them within the same file.

To use this functionality when you have multiple tasks ready for review,

• Navigate to the Tasks panel in a spreadsheet and click Review tasks.
• You can then select the tasks to be approved and click the Approve button.
• Confirm the approval by clicking Approve.

Formula Version 6 Released

We have released a new formula version; this includes both performance improvements and bug fixes.

Improvements:

• Formulas that compare ranges to single values and then add or multiply them will see significant performance improvements.

Bug fixes:

• Fixed an issue where cells with Date, Period, and Text value formatting could be affected by the document default Shown In if formulas were calculated under As Displayed.
• Fixed data validations that resulted in a single option displaying zero options.
• Fixed some formulas that resulted in the text -0 when it should have been 0.
• Fixed a scenario in XMATCH where certain characters preceding a wildcard would cause XMATCH to not find and matches when it should have.
• Fixed wildcards (?, *) not being escaped in XMATCH and XLOOKUP when using the standard wildcard escape (~).
• Prevented Entered In from affecting certain array function parameters, such as the sort_order parameter in SORT.

You can now apply Value Formatting directly to Content Placeholders within destination links, providing greater flexibility in how numeric values like dates and currencies are displayed in documents that use Links to manage common narrative content.

New: SASB IF-RE no longer Deprecated in Sustainability Explorer

If your Sustainability Explorer includes the Infrastructure - Real Estate (IF-RE) industry for Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), its Standards now appear as Current; previously, the IF-RE Standards inadvertently appeared as Deprecated.
To disclose the SASB IF-RE Standards through your Factbook or ISSB Gap Assessment spreadsheet, refresh the file's incoming connections to include the Standards.

Simplify IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards with Workiva AI

To help summarize and clarify the disclosure requirements of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards from the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), you can use the new ISSB Intelligence knowledge base with Workiva AI.

If your Sustainability Explorer includes the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, you can also view the source content used by Workiva AI to develop its response.

New: Selected Color Display for Markup.

"Selected Color" in Color Picker in Documents and Presentations.
After selecting a shape the color or state is now displayed in the Color Picker below the color palette. Additionally, the selected color in the palette is highlighted. This also works when multiple shapes of the same color are selected. If shapes of different colors are selected, the Selected Color will display as "none".

This feature works for the following elements: text color, text highlighting, border color, and fill color; it also applies to shapes and markup.

Sustainability

New: Copy additional files for new year in Sustainability Program
From Sustainability Program, you can now choose to copy or "roll forward" additional files for a new reporting year, such Processes, reference files, or reporting outputs. Previously, you could copy only source files connected to metric values.

New: Download metric attachments for specific collection periods
When you download metric attachments from Program overview or a topic or metric in Sustainability Program, you can now choose the collection periods of the values with the supporting attachments to include in the ZIP file.

From Program overview, Program Owners can also now choose — from Program settings — whether to append a timestamp to the file names of supporting attachments, for context of when the file was uploaded to its metric value. For added clarity, this timestamp appears when viewing attachments in the downloaded ZIP file, metrics, or Query results.

Add Data button improves data library access in documents

We have added a Add Data button to the Data toolbar. It does the same thing as the "Add Data" option in the right-click menu, but is more accessible and visible.

Why does this matter?

We know that quickly adding data libraries to your documents is a key part of your workflow. This change helps you do that in a single click, saving you time and making your process more efficient. This feature is live for all users.

Duplicate Key issues now counted correctly

We have updated how we count the number of duplicate key issues so that the Issues console now displays the correct number of impacted records.

Sustainability

Copy Sustainability Explorer content IDs

In the Sustainability Explorer, you can now view and copy the unique Explorer ID used to identify content. This is useful for tasks such as aligning Program metrics with specific disclosure requirements; you can now copy and paste the value into an import template .

In the Metric content and tags import template, you can enter multiple Explorer IDs for a metric as a comma-separated list; if an ID contains a comma, enter a double-quote (") at the beginning and end of the ID.

New: Direct management of paragraph and heading styles in Styles Panel

You can now manage paragraph and heading styles directly within a new right-hand panel accessible from the toolbar in Documents, Presentations, and Spreadsheets. This new panel places powerful style management tools right where you need them, allowing you to stay focused on your content.

Key Enhancements:

• Simplified style application: Quickly view and apply styles while keeping your styles visible and available in the panel.
• Effortlessly create new styles: Select formatted text and create a new style directly from your files.
• In-place style updates: Easily update existing styles to match the formatting of selected text or rename styles, all without needing to open a separate style guide editor.
• Keyboard shortcuts: Add keyboard shortcuts to your styles for more efficient application.
• Your changes are automatically synchronized with the style guide without needing to open the full style guide editor.

Supplier proxy method retired

Where this proxy method was previously applied, calculations for purchased goods and services will now use the spend-based method. This applies when there is no supplier-specific (product-level), supplier-provided (allocated emissions), or override emissions, and the supplier is not mapped.
Previously, the supplier proxy method generated dynamic emission factors based on your supplier mappings at the time of calculation which isn’t aligned with delivering auditable calculations.

Bulk Replace now available

Bulk Replace enables you to find and replace multiple instances of a word or phrase across your Workiva Documents, Spreadsheets, and Presentations in a single click, with the flexibility to include or exclude important content types such as Links and Formulas.

Consolidation of manual and linked placeholders

When a document includes both a locally created placeholder and a linked placeholder with the same name, they now merge automatically into one unified placeholder. This update removes duplicates from the Placeholders panel and ensures consistent data updates—one connection now refreshes every instance of that placeholder across your document.

• Updated: Improved Resource Handling and Reporting

Scripting has been enhanced to better manage and report on resource usage.
Key improvements include:
• Scripts that exceed system limits now gracefully terminate and display the reason for termination.
• All successful script runs now include detailed resource utilization summaries in the logs.

• New: Support added for AL2023 with Python 3.9 and 3.13

Scripting has been upgraded to run on Amazon Linux 2023 (AL2023), now supporting both Python 3.9 and 3.13.
With this change:
• Python versions will now receive automatic patches and updates as part of AL2023 maintenance.
• Scripts using Python 3.9 can continue to run until October 2026, leveraging Amazon's extended support.

We encourage users to migrate as soon as possible to future-proof their scripts and take advantage of the latest Python features and improvements.

• New: Support added for Python 3.13

Workiva Scripting now supports Python 3.13. You can configure scripts to run on Python 3.9 or Python 3.13 using the Scripting API or the Scripting Editor.
The new features available include:
• Selecting the runtime version (3.9 or 3.13) for each script.
• Reading the Python version of a script
• Existing scripts will keep the version configured as 3.9, while all new scripts will be created with Python 3.13 configured by default
This update ensures you can begin migrating scripts ahead of Python 3.9 end of life in October 2025, while maintaining backward compatibility during the transition.

Sustainability

• New: Assess readiness for IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards

To prepare to report using the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards from the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), you can supplement your Sustainability Reporting workspace with additional files, including:
• Assessment templates, to collect stakeholder perspectives on the financial impact — or materiality — of sustainability-related risks and opportunities (ROs)
• ISSB gap assessment, to identify gaps in data collection or reporting for both general disclosures and ROs
• ISSB datapoint accelerator, to easily create or update metrics in Sustainability Program to help resolve gaps identified
• Sample ISSB report, as inspiration or a starting point
• An IFRS-ISSB section for your Factbook, to ease reporting of general disclosures
An additional cost may apply to deploy these files as an add-on to your workspace. Contact your Workiva CSM or implementation partner for details.

• New: "Explore draft" checklist for California Senate Bill 261

From Sustainability Explorer, you can now include the draft checklist from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to disclose climate-related financial risks in compliance with California Senate Bill (SB) 261.
SB261 requires companies with at least $500M in annual revenue doing business in California to disclose their climate-related financial risks and mitigation strategy every two years, starting January 1, 2026.
To enable the draft checklist in Sustainability Explorer, select California Climate Related Financial Risk disclosures (SB261) or All frameworks from the Properties panel, or contact your Workiva CSM to add it to your account.
When enabled, you can:
• Explore and bookmark requirements to comply with SB261.
• Align SB261 requirements with related metrics in Sustainability Program.
• Identify how SB261 requirements relate to Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards you may already use for reporting.

To calculate your well-to-tank (WTT) emissions from purchased fuels and purchased energy, contact your Workiva Carbon point of contact who can add the extension calculator to your workspace. This calculator is available to Standard and Advanced customers with Scope 3 calculations.

Connector to Workday Adaptive Planning updated.
With this update, Workiva offers two authentication methods (Basic and JWT Bearer Grant (Workday Credentials)). You can select the one you want to use under Credentials in the connection configuration.

NetSuite Connector SOAP endpoint updated to version 2025.2.
The NetSuite Connector's SOAP endpoint has been updated from 2024.2 to 2025.2. No functionality will change with this update.

PowerBI connector authentication change
Microsoft has changed how user delegation based on OAuth works in the PowerBI connector; it is now mandating MFA.

Doc Health Warning when Formula version is outdated.
We have added a warning in Doc Health when the formula version is less than the head formula version. This is a document-wide warning and has a section similar to Publish issues.

New: Version 3.1 emission factor library now available.

Version 3.1 emission factor library now available
In Version 3.1, the release year of an emission factor is matched to an entry’s reporting year. This means the most recently released emission factor will be applied to an entry rather than an emission factor calculated off of the same year’s data. Version 3.1 includes all of the same emission factors as Version 3.
