MCP server updates
Canny expands its MCP server with 55+ tools for ideas, groups, users and companies, and portal comments. The update adds richer idea and insight management, saved views, HubSpot and Salesforce linking, faster group lookup, and new ways to create and manage users, companies, and comments.
We’re continuing to make improvements to the Canny MCP server! It now has over 55 tools, with new ones spanning ideas, groups, users/companies, and portal.
Ideas
move_idea moves an idea under a new parent or into a new group
create_insight, update_insight, and delete_insight manage insights, with priority supported on create
move_insight moves an insight to another idea (insights linked to a vote or comment can't be moved)
link_opportunity and unlink_opportunity connect or disconnect a HubSpot deal or Salesforce opportunity from an idea
create_view, update_view, and delete_view manage saved views
Groups
retrieve_group looks up a single group by ID or urlName, which is faster than list_groups when you already know the identifier
Users and companies
create_user creates a new end user and returns their ID. Passing an email deduplicates against existing users
create_company creates a company with a domain and optional MRR or ARR
add_user_to_company associates a user with a sepcified company

Autopilot auto-links opportunities & deals
Canny now automatically links open Salesforce and HubSpot opportunities to feedback captured in customer conversations, cutting manual work for teams with Autopilot. The feature is on by default for Salesforce and HubSpot integrations on Canny Business.
Autopilot now automatically links open Salesforce and HubSpot opportunities to the feedback it captures.
When Autopilot finds feedback in a customer conversation/call, it looks up the company in your CRM and attaches the relevant open opportunity. No more manual linking needed.
Note: Autopilot only links the opportunity when:
- the company has a single open opportunity
- the close date is in the future
- the last activity happened within the past year
This is on by default for every team with Autopilot and a Salesforce or HubSpot integration installed.
Opportunities and deals are part of the Salesforce and HubSpot integrations, only available on Canny Business. Request a demo or reach out to our support team if you're interested in the Business plan.

Run auto-grouping on demand
Canny adds manual auto-grouping for ideas once teams have at least three groups.
Autopilot automatically sorts new ideas into groups for you. If you have ungrouped ideas, you can now trigger auto-grouping manually.
Once your team has at least three groups, you'll see a button to run auto-grouping. Make sure your group descriptions are really good so Autopilot will be best informed.

Manually create companies
Canny adds manual company creation for insights, giving teams a simpler way to track customer interest without syncing data and still supporting later deduping with synced company records.
Creating insights on behalf of companies is how you keep track of which customers are interested in a feature.
If you're able to sync in company information via a data source, we highly recommend that route. See Canny Identify to set up our SDK. This way, companies are automatically created, updated (ARR changes, admin changes, etc.), and you can pass in additional fields for segmentation (e.g. billing plan, NPS score, etc.).
We're now supporting manual creation of companies so:
- Teams just starting out with Canny can see how things work without setting up syncing
- Teams who are unable to get company data into Canny have an option to do it manually
How it works
When adding an insight, you'll see an option to create a new company.
Name and domain are mandatory. Optionally include their MRR/ARR.
Selecting a user will automatically associate that user with the newly created company. Users can be unlinked from a company from the users tab.
If you start with manual creation and sync data afterwards, Canny will attempt to dedupe companies with domain name.

Exporting ideas
Canny adds CSV export for Ideas views, preserving filters, sorting, and visible fields.
You can now export any Ideas views to CSV. Just right-click a view and select Export view.
Exports preserve the view configuration, including:
- sort order
- applied filters
- visible fields
This is available to teams on any Canny plan.

Push to Portal settings
Canny adds Push to Portal settings so Autopilot ideas can be automatically published to the feedback Portal for supported integrations.
These settings are relevant for teams using the feedback Portal. By default, ideas created by Autopilot are not published the Portal. This leaves it up to your team to decide which ideas are visible to end users.
With the new Push to Portal settings, you can configure it so that ideas created by Autopilot are also automatically published.
Note that this is a per-integration setting so you'll need to turn it on for each integration you want this behavior to take place.
Push to Portal is available for: Intercom, Zendesk, HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, and the Chrome Extension

Update Portal fields from the ideas table
Canny now supports editing public portal fields directly from the ideas table, with portal updates reflected instantly.
Admins can now read and update portal fields (board, tags, categories, ETA, portal status) directly from the ideas table.
These fields are marked with an eye icon and tinted on hover to remind you that these are public fields. Adjustments to these fields from the table will affect the portal.

Ideas beta available to customers on the Core plan
Canny brings the Ideas beta to all Core plan teams, giving customer feedback a centralized home with automatic triage, team groups, and revenue insights to help prioritize what matters most.
The Canny Ideas beta is now available to all teams on the Core plan.
Ideas is the centralized home for all your customer feedback inside Canny. It's where your team prioritizes feedback coming in from sales calls, support conversations, and your feedback portal.
Feedback automatically triaged to the right team
Groups in Ideas represent your product areas or teams. As feedback flows in from Intercom, Slack, Gong, and your portal, Autopilot triages it into the right groups.
Connect feedback to revenue
Insights carry customer and company context so you can answer the questions that actually drive prioritization:
How much existing ARR is tied to this idea?
Which missing features are blocking your biggest deals and renewals?
How much closed-lost revenue last quarter mentioned this feature?

New Slack DMs
Canny adds new Slack DM workflows to keep teams on top of feedback and follow-up. Account owners now get DMs when ideas are marked complete or assigned, with customer details and links to Salesforce or HubSpot records when available.
Many teams work in Slack so we're enabling new workflows by sending relevant notifications. Here are two new ones:
DMs to account owners when ideas marked as complete
When an idea moves to a Complete status, account owners get a Slack DM with the customers they own who shared insight on that feedback. It allows customer success and sales to close the loop with their customers and prospects.
The DM lists each company and (if available) links straight to its Salesforce or HubSpot record so they can jump in and follow up.
For this to work, you'll need the account owner field mapped under your company data settings:
DMs to owners when ideas are assigned
When ideas are assigned to an owner, they will get a Slack DM. This helps you stay on top of important work.
These DMs are available for teams on all plans.

Attachments on insights
Canny adds attachments to Insights, letting teams include files with feedback for richer context.
Insights now support attachments, so you can include files alongside the feedback you capture.
This is helpful when you want to add deeper context. Consider adding things like a screenshot from a support ticket, a transcript from a customer call, or a PDF from a user research interview. Attaching these directly to the insight keeps everything in one place.
There are three ways to add an attachment to an insight:
- Click the Add attachments button
- Drag and drop a file
- Copy and paste a file directly into the insight box
This feature is available to all teams in the Ideas beta.

Ideas drawer remembers your view
Canny adds Internal and Portal views for Ideas in the feedback portal, with each idea remembering your last view.
This update is relevant for teams in the Ideas beta using the feedback portal. Ideas are all private to your internal team unless they are published to your portal.
When an idea is published, you’ll see that you can switch between the Internal view and the Portal view.
Ideas will remember which view you were looking at as you switch between ideas. If you change views inside the drawer, we save that choice for the next idea you open.
Note: ideas that aren't published can only open in Internal view, even if you were last on the Portal view.

No feedback found view in Autopilot
Canny adds Autopilot no-feedback tracking with source call links and clearer reasons for skipped feedback.
Autopilot now shows you which calls and conversations were processed where no feedback was found.
This makes it easier to track Autopilot’s activity and see reasoning for why no feedback was captured. The “View original” button takes you to the source call or conversation.
Some of the reasons refer to feedback that Autopilot currently skips like bug reports. Let us know if there’s a type of feedback that you want Autopilot to capture.
Visit the No feedback found page in Autopilot to check it out.
This is available for teams on all plans.

Two-way status sync for project management integrations
Canny expands two-way status syncing across GitHub, Jira, ClickUp, Linear, and Asana, keeping Ideas, Portal, and linked tasks aligned for teams in the Ideas beta.
We've updated GitHub, Jira, ClickUp, Linear, and Asana so that status syncing works in both directions. Update an idea’s status in Canny and it reflects in your PM tool’s linked task automatically, and vice versa.
This pairs well with Ideas and Portal status syncing, which lets you map internal Ideas statuses to Portal statuses. Together, this means status changes in your PM tool, Ideas, or Portal will update everywhere.
Note: This is only available to all teams in the Ideas beta. Ideas now have a one-to-one relationship with linked tasks or issues. If you're not in the Ideas beta, your PM integrations will continue to work as before.
Status mapping replaces any previous rules. Go to your integration’s settings page and set up your mapping.

Ideas <> Portal status syncing
Canny adds automatic Ideas status mapping, letting teams sync internal idea statuses with portal statuses in both directions. A new Status mapping settings page lets admins define mappings once and control whether end users are notified on status changes.
In Ideas, there are two types of statuses:
- Idea status - this is internal only, to keep your team up to date
- Portal status - this is visible to end users
We have kept these separate because teams often want more granularity internally, whereas the portal can be more high-level.
Instead of updating portal statuses manually, you can now map your internal idea statuses to portal statuses. Define your mappings once, and status updates sync automatically in both directions.
How the sync works
Set up your mappings under the new Status mapping settings page. Each internal idea status can optionally be mapped to a portal status. You can also choose whether end users get notified when a status changes.
When an idea is updated, the linked feedback updates to its mapped portal status. It works the same way in the other direction, with one caveat. If multiple portal statuses map to the same idea status, the idea status is updated to the one that appears highest in your list.
Take this example:
With this mapping:
- If you update an idea to "Ready For Eng", the portal status updates to “Planned”
- If you update an idea to "In Progress", the portal status updates to “Planned”
- If you update the portal status to "Planned", the idea updates to "Ready for Eng”
This feature is available to all teams in the Ideas beta.

MCP server updates
Canny improves its MCP server with richer portal data for ChatGPT and Claude, new tools for listing insights and idea comments, more reliable data in longer AI conversations, clearer field values, and support for merging ideas directly in workflow.
We’re continuing to make improvements to the Canny MCP server!
More data, more tools
ChatGPT and Claude can now pull portal data alongside idea data for additional context.
We've also added two new tools: List Insights and List Idea Comments. List Insights lets AI tools access the insights tied to an idea. List Idea Comments lets them access the comments on an idea.
More reliable results
In longer conversations with LLMs, they can sometimes rely on older data rather than fetching fresh data from Canny. We've made changes to reduce this, so results stay accurate throughout a conversation.
Field values are communicated more clearly as well so AI tools can be confident in field values like monthly spend.
Merge ideas
Merge ideas directly via the MCP server. This makes it easier to deduplicate and organize feedback without leaving your AI workflow.
The MCP server is available on the Pro plan and above for teams in the Ideas beta.
