Sell Direct with Stripe and Automatic BookFunnel Delivery

BookFunnel adds Stripe integration for automatic book delivery, letting buyers receive unique download links when they purchase through Stripe. It supports ebooks, audiobooks, and media files, plus checkout delivery links and variant-based delivery for direct sales sellers.

    Hello, BFFs!

Another week, another integration. BookFunnel now integrates with Stripe, and this is one a lot of you have been asking for.

If you’ve been using Stripe to sell your books and wanted automatic BookFunnel delivery for your buyers, it’s now here.

This is the fourth integration in our Spring into Direct Sales series, and we’re not done yet. We’ve added Wix, SamCart, Square, and now Stripe, with more integrations still to come.

    You Sell Direct, We Deliver

If you have read our other announcements, you know the drill. With BookFunnel Delivery Actions, every time someone buys your book through Stripe, BookFunnel automatically sends them a unique, private download link. We handle tech support too, so if a reader has trouble getting their files to their device, they’re covered.

You’ll also get a checkout delivery link: a dedicated page where buyers can look up their purchase and download their book instantly. Add it to your thank you page and receipt email so readers always have a way back in if the delivery email gets buried.

    What You Can Deliver

Any book or media file you have on BookFunnel can connect to a Stripe product listing. This includes ebooks (EPUB and PDF), audiobooks, and media files. Not sure what counts as a media file? Check out our recent announcement on BookFunnel’s multimedia uploads feature.

Stripe also supports product variants, so you can offer an ebook and audiobook on the same listing. Set up a separate delivery action for each variant and BookFunnel will send the right file to the right buyer automatically.

What You Need to Get Started

The Stripe integration is available on the Mid List Author plan and above. Setup involves connecting your Stripe account to BookFunnel using your Stripe API key. Our Knowledge Base article walks you through the whole process step by step.

As with our other integrations, you’ll need to create your product in Stripe before setting up the delivery action in BookFunnel.

One Thing Worth Knowing About Stripe

When testing your setup, skip Stripe’s Test Mode and Sandbox. Your product needs to be live and active in your store for a successful test. You can temporarily set the price to free or apply a discount to run a test purchase without charging yourself.

Ready to Connect Your Stripe Account?

Head to your BookFunnel Sales dashboard to get started. Our Knowledge Base article has the full step-by-step walkthrough, including how to get your API key, set up your delivery action, and test your connection.

More Than Books: Introducing Multimedia Uploads

BookFunnel adds Media Uploads, letting authors deliver more than ebooks and audiobooks. Readers can now receive files like art, maps, recipes, videos, wallpapers, and bonus materials, with Short Audio moved into the Media tab and PDFs available as ebook or media uploads.

    Hello, BFFs!

We have exciting news: BookFunnel doesn’t just deliver ebooks and audiobooks anymore.

Starting today, you can use BookFunnel to deliver a wide range of digital files to your readers. If you can put it in a file, BookFunnel can get it into your readers’ hands.

    Note:

    • Must be on the Mid List Author plan or higher to upload most Media files
    • Must be on the Best Seller plan or higher to upload video files

    What is a Media Upload?

Upload files up to 300 MB, delivered the same way BookFunnel delivers everything else: smoothly and reliably. Once you create a Media file, you can replace it anytime without breaking your existing pages or links.

Note: Once a Media file is created, you can only replace it with the same type of file. If you need to deliver a completely different file type, you will need to create a new Media file.

    What can you deliver?

We started brainstorming and couldn’t stop. Here’s just a taste of what authors can deliver:

    • Character art and cast illustrations
    • Printable maps of fictional worlds
    • Recipe collections inspired by your book
    • Phone and desktop wallpapers
    • Book trailer videos (Best Seller plan or higher)
    • Printable coloring pages
    • Character bibles and research spreadsheets
    • Mood boards and behind-the-scenes extras
    • Courses or bonus lesson materials

    File Types Not Allowed

To protect readers’ devices, BookFunnel does not support executable or potentially harmful file types. The following are not accepted:

BAT, CMD, COM, CPL, DLL, DMG, EXE, HTA, IMG, ISO, JAR, JS, LNK, MSI, PIF, PS1, SCR, SH, URL, VBE, VBS, and WSH

    What about Short Audio?

We’ve also moved Short Audio into the Media tab, where it now lives alongside your other Media files. Same great feature, tidier home.

    How Will PDFs Work?

PDFs work a little differently. When you upload a standalone PDF, BookFunnel will ask whether you want it treated as an ebook or as a media file. Giving away a printable reading tracker or a recipe collection? Choose Media. A story your readers are going to read on their device? Choose an Ebook.

    Get Started

Head over to your BookFunnel dashboard, click Add New, and select Add New Media. Add your cover image, upload your file, and you’re ready to share it with your readers.

Learn more about Media Uploads in our Author Knowledge Base.

    Until next time!

New Plans: More Pen Names, Cheaper Audiobook options, or Stay on Your Current Plan

BookFunnel adds updated account plans with simpler Mid-List pricing, more pen name support, and new audiobook options. The changes include usage-based billing and lower prepaid audiobook tiers, while letting existing customers keep their current plans unchanged if they prefer.

    Hello, BFFs!

We’re introducing updated BookFunnel account plans starting February 20, 2026.

These changes are aimed at giving authors, especially those with multiple pen names and audiobooks, more flexibility as they grow.

Before we dive into the details, here’s the most important thing to know:

If you’re happy with your current plan, you can keep it.

Nothing changes unless you choose to switch. Your pricing, pen name limits, and audiobook delivery will continue exactly as-is.

    What’s Changing?

These updates are shaped by years of author feedback and reflect how publishing and author businesses have evolved over time.

Below is a summary of the updated pricing for authors and publishers who choose to move to a new plan. Existing customers can continue on their current plans with no changes.

Simplified Mid-List Plans (With More Pen Names)

We’ve merged Mid-List Author and Mid-List Author with Integrations into a single, simpler Mid-List plan.

    What’s included now:

    • Integrations included by default
    • More pen names (increasing from 2 to 4)

New pricing (if you choose to switch):

    • $20/month (or $200/year)

This change reduces confusion and better supports authors publishing under multiple pen names.

    Author Account Pricing Overview

Below is a summary of updated author pricing for customers who choose to move to a new plan. Existing customers can remain on their current plans with their current pricing as long as they don’t change plans.

    First-Time Author (annual plan)

    • $30/year (previously $20/year)

    Includes 1 pen name

    Mid-List Author (combined plan)

    • $20/month or $200/year
    • Integrations included
    • Supports up to 4 pen names

    Bestseller Author

    • $30/month or $300/year
    • Supports up to 6 pen names

Audiobooks: More Flexible Options (Including Cheaper Plans for Most Authors)

Our audiobook feature continues to grow, and we’ve consistently heard that authors and publishers want pricing that better reflects how much audio they actually deliver.

Instead of relying only on large prepaid blocks, audiobook delivery now offers clear usage-based options, alongside prepaid plans.

    Audiobooks by Usage (New Option)

Audiobooks by Usage introduces a more flexible, postpaid option:

    • $2/month or $20/year base fee
    • $0.04 per delivered hour of audio (DHA)

This option is ideal for authors and publishers with smaller or growing audiobook catalogs who want flexibility without committing to large prepaid blocks.

Prepaid DHA Plans for Authors (Updated)

Prepaid DHA plans remain available for authors who prefer predictable pricing. These plans include a set number of delivered audiobook hours each month, with lower per-hour costs as usage increases.

    What’s changing:

5k DHA Plan (Cheaper for Most Authors)

    $10/month or $100/year

Includes 5,000 delivered hours of audio

    • Overage: $0.03 per additional hour
    • Previously $15/month or $150/year

This is the one automatic exception:

If you’re currently on the 5k DHA plan and paying more than $10/month or $100/year, we’ll automatically move you to the new, lower price so you don’t have to do anything to start saving money.

Most authors do well with the 5k DHA plan and don’t need anything more.

If you’re on the 5k DHA plan and would rather switch to the usage-based option instead, you’ll be able to do that in your dashboard starting in February, or you can contact us at [email protected].

    New 10k DHA Plan

    $20/month or $200/year

Includes 10,000 delivered hours of audio

    • Overage: $0.02 per additional hour
    • $5 less per month or $50 less per year than the current Unlimited plan

This plan is designed for higher-volume authors who don’t quite need Unlimited.

    Unlimited DHA Plan

    • $30/month or $300/year (new sign-ups only)
    • Designed for the largest audiobook catalogs

Existing customers can remain on their current Unlimited plan unless they choose to switch.

    Publisher Audiobook Pricing

Publishers now have two audiobook options, depending on how they prefer to manage delivery and billing.

    Audiobooks (Publishers – Prepaid)

    • $40/month or $400/year
    • Includes prepaid audiobook delivery
    • Reduced from $50/month or $500/year

    Audiobooks by Usage (Publishers)

    • $10/month or $100/year, plus DHA usage costs
    • Postpaid: pay only for the audiobook hours actually delivered

Why We’re Making These Changes Now

In nearly 10 years, BookFunnel has never raised prices. As we continue to invest in real human support, long-term ebook and audiobook delivery, and more affordable options shaped by author feedback, these updates help ensure we can sustainably support authors for the long haul.

    When Does This Take Effect?

The new account levels and pricing options will be available starting February 20, 2026.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to change my BookFunnel plan?

No. Existing customers can keep their current plan indefinitely. Nothing changes unless you choose to switch.

    Will my price increase automatically?

No. Your current pricing stays the same unless you opt into a new plan.

What’s changing with Mid-List Author plans?

Mid-List Author and Mid-List Author with Integrations are now a single Mid-List plan, with integrations included by default and support for more pen names.

    What’s changing with audiobooks?

Audiobook pricing now offers more flexible, usage-based options, so authors and publishers pay only for the audiobook hours actually delivered.

    What does DHA mean?

DHA stands for Delivered Hours of Audio, which is the total number of audiobook listening hours delivered to readers.

    Can I switch plans later?

Yes. You can stay on your current plan indefinitely if you’d like.

If you choose to upgrade, downgrade, or switch plans in the future, you’ll move to the pricing and plan options available at that time.

Why is BookFunnel updating pricing now?

After nearly 10 years without pricing changes, this update reflects increased investment in human support, long-term delivery, and more affordable options shaped by author feedback.

Announcing Digital Ebook Signing: Connect with Readers in a Whole New Way

BookFunnel introduces Digital Ebook Signing, a new feature that lets authors sign ebooks for readers at events, online launches, livestreams, and book clubs. It delivers personalized signed copies to inboxes and libraries while helping authors connect with readers and grow mailing lists.

    Hello, BFFs!

Let’s talk about readers—the ones who binge your series in a weekend, come to signings, and ask, “When’s the next book coming out?” They would gladly wait in line for you, even if that means just connecting online.

For years, indie authors knew they needed to:

    • Write the books.
    • Try to get people to notice those books.

The ebook revolution gave us mailing lists, Facebook ads, direct sales, and many useful tools. But… the market has changed again.

AI-generated content, a surge of releases, and shifting platforms mean that visibility alone isn’t enough.

The authors who succeed build real, human connections with their readers.

    Meet Digital Ebook Signing

We’re excited to introduce digital ebook signing—a new BookFunnel feature that lets you sign ebooks for readers at in-person events, online launches, livestreams, book clubs, and more.

    See it in action:

Reader @ravishedbydarkness captured the moment at Reader Nation, receiving digitally signed books from @av.asher.author and @authoremmaalisyn delivered straight to her email: “Digital autographs are officially a thing 😍 “

Readers get a personalized, digitally signed copy delivered to their inbox and BookFunnel library, complete with your signature and custom message or tip-in page.

You gain an easy way to:

    • Connect with readers as a real person
    • Create superfans who remember meeting you, not just your cover
    • Grow your mailing list while you sign

Why Ebook Signing, and Why Now?

Readers live online. Authors are selling direct, running Kickstarters, hosting Patreons, streaming on TikTok and YouTube, and Zooming with readers worldwide. It’s exciting, but can feel overwhelming.

Digital ebook signing offers a simple way to connect through the noise. It changes “I saw your post” into “I watched you sign my book!”

This isn’t just about novelty. It’s about:

    • Standing out in a crowded market
    • Preparing for algorithm changes
    • Deepening relationships with readers who will buy every book you write

You don’t need a million casual readers. You need a few hundred (or thousand) who feel connected to you.

    How It Works

    1. Set up your signing event
    • Choose which book(s) to sign
    • Add optional custom tip-in images (art, special editions, bonus pages)
    • Connect your email list to collect subscribers
    1. Collect reader info
    • In-person: Readers type their name and email on your tablet or laptop
    • Online: Send readers a special link to request a signed ebook
    1. Sign the book
    • Use a tablet, touchscreen, or touchpad
    • Write your name, initials, or a full message
    • Adjust pen color and line thickness
    • Sign your custom tip-in sheet which will be added to your epub or set it to replace a page or element in your book.
    1. BookFunnel delivers
    • Readers get an email with their personalized, signed ebook
    • The signed copy is added to their BookFunnel library
    • They can read in the app, send to Kindle, or download

No extra uploads or manual file juggling. Just sign, send, and you’re done.

    Ready to Start Signing?

Digital ebook signing is rolling out now and available on your BookFunnel dashboard on eligible plans.

👉 Read the full knowledge base guide here.

And keep an eye on our YouTube channel. We’ll be hosting a brand-new webinar in early December with a full walkthrough of ebook signing, pro tips, and live Q&A.

Where Can You Use Ebook Signing?

    In-Person Events & Conventions

At Reader Nation, readers were thrilled they could get a digitally signed ebook without buying a physical copy.

    Use ebook signing:

    • At your booth or signing table
    • Alongside signed paperbacks and hardcovers
    • For readers who prefer digital, travel light, or already own the ebook
    • As a bonus with print purchases
    • With special event-only tip-in pages

Online Events, Livestreams, and Book Clubs

Don’t want to leave your house? Same tool, new context.

    Use during:

    • Virtual book clubs
    • Patreon or membership hangouts
    • Live Q&As on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok
    • Launch parties or milestone celebrations

Readers submit their info through your signing link. Sign live on stream or later and follow up with a “Your signed book is ready!” email. Either way, you’ve created a memorable moment.

    Giveaways, Contests, and Reader Rewards

Signed ebooks make great prizes—no shipping costs, customs forms, or lost packages.

    Use them for:

    • Newsletter subscriber rewards
    • Reader group giveaways
    • ARC team incentives
    • Thank-you bonuses for engaged fans

It’s just as easy to deliver to 1 winner as 50.

    Kickstarter, Patreon, and Direct Sales

Already using BookFunnel for direct sales? Digital signing slots right in:

    • Add a “digitally signed edition” Kickstarter tier
    • Offer signed ebooks as Patreon rewards
    • Let readers buy signed ebooks from your store and sign in batches

Readers get a premium experience and you get a repeatable perk.

    What About Mailing Lists?

When readers request a signed ebook, you can optionally collect their email. BookFunnel either adds them directly to your connected email service or stores them in a CSV for later import.

Your signing events become a way to:

    • Grow your list
    • Tag your most engaged readers
    • Follow up with new releases or special offers

    Start Connecting With Readers

Connecting with readers is no longer optional—it’s crucial for a successful author career in a changing industry. We built digital ebook signing to make that connection easier, more magical, and more enjoyable for you and your readers.

    Until next time!

    What You Can Deliver

Square also supports product variants, which means you can offer an ebook and audiobook on the same listing. You’ll set up a separate delivery action for each variant and BookFunnel will deliver the right file to the right buyer automatically.

What You Need to Get Started

The Square integration is available on the Mid-List Author plan and above. Setup involves creating a Square developer application and connecting it to BookFunnel using a production access token. Our Knowledge Base article walks you through the whole process, and there’s a video walkthrough if you’d rather follow along visually.

One thing to keep in mind: you’ll need to create your product in Square before you set up the delivery action in BookFunnel. Learn more here.

Sell Direct on SamCart with Automatic BookFunnel Delivery

BookFunnel adds SamCart integration for automatic book delivery, sending buyers unique private download links and a checkout delivery page. It supports ebooks, audiobooks, and media files, with setup available on Mid List Author plans and above.

    Hello, BFFs!

We’re continuing our spring into sales integration series with another new addition. BookFunnel now integrates with SamCart. If you’ve been using SamCart to sell your books and wanted automatic BookFunnel delivery for your buyers, you’re now set.

    You Sell Direct, We Deliver

With BookFunnel Delivery Actions, every time someone buys your book through SamCart, BookFunnel automatically sends them a unique, private download link. We also handle tech support if a reader has trouble getting their files to their device.

As with our other sales integrations, you’ll also get access to a checkout delivery link: a dedicated page where buyers can look up their purchase and download their book instantly. Add it to your thank you page and receipt email so readers who can’t find their delivery email always have a way back in.

    What You Can Deliver

Any book or media file you have on BookFunnel can connect to a SamCart product listing. This includes ebooks (EPUB and PDF), audiobooks, and media files. Not sure what counts as a media file? Check out our recent announcement on BookFunnel’s multimedia uploads feature.

What You Need to Get Started

The SamCart integration is available on the Mid List Author plan and above. Before you begin setup, there is one important step: you’ll need to contact SamCart support and request access to your API key. The SamCart API is still in beta and keys aren’t available from their dashboard yet, so reaching out to their team first will save you time.

Once you have your API key, connecting BookFunnel and SamCart is straightforward. Our Knowledge Base article walks you through every step.

Some Thing Worth Knowing About SamCart

SamCart can occasionally take a few seconds, or in some cases a few minutes, to send a purchase notification to BookFunnel. BookFunnel can only send the delivery link once it receives that confirmation, so if your delivery email doesn’t arrive instantly during testing, give it a few minutes before troubleshooting. This is a SamCart timing issue on their end, not a setup problem on yours.

Also worth noting: when testing your setup, don’t use SamCart’s Test Mode. Your product needs to be live and active in your store for a successful test. You can temporarily set the price to free or apply a discount to run the test without charging yourself. Learn more here.

Ready to Connect Your SamCart Store?

Head to your BookFunnel Sales dashboard to get started. Our Knowledge Base article has the full step-by-step walkthrough, including how to set up your delivery action, test your connection, and get your checkout delivery link in front of buyers.

Sell Direct on Wix with Automatic BookFunnel Delivery

BookFunnel adds Wix integration for automatic book delivery, letting authors connect Wix store sales to unique private download links for ebooks, audiobooks, and media files. It also handles reader support and rolls out as the first in a series of new sales platform integrations.

    Hello, BFFs!

We have exciting news. BookFunnel now integrates with Wix. If you’ve been building your author site on Wix and wanted automatic book delivery for your store, you’re now set.

This is the first in a series of new sales platform integrations we’re rolling out all spring!

    You Sell Direct, We Deliver

Wix is one of the most popular website builders for authors, and now your store can do more. With BookFunnel Delivery Actions, every time someone buys your book on Wix, BookFunnel automatically sends a unique, private download link. We also handle tech support if a reader has trouble getting their files to their device.

    What Can Be Delivered

Any book or media file you have on BookFunnel can be connected to a Wix product listing. This includes ebooks (EPUB and PDF), audiobooks, and media files. Not sure what counts as a media file? Check out our recent announcement on BookFunnel’s multimedia uploads feature.

What You Need to Get Started

The Wix integration is available on the Mid List Author plan and above. To get started you’ll need an active Wix store with at least one digital product listing. The initial setup takes about five minutes. You’ll create a Wix Automation that notifies BookFunnel when a sale goes through. It sounds more technical than it is, and our Knowledge Base article walks you through every step.

One Thing Worth Knowing About Wix

Wix requires a digital file for every product in their store. You have two options: (1) upload your actual EPUB or PDF directly to Wix for them to deliver alongside BookFunnel’s link, or (2) upload a simple placeholder file (a PDF or JPEG that thanks the buyer and directs them to their BookFunnel download). Either way, BookFunnel will send your buyer a unique download link.

Meet the New BackerKit + BookFunnel Integration

BookFunnel adds a BackerKit integration that automatically delivers ebooks, audiobooks, and bonus content to crowdfunding backers the moment they pledge, follow, or reserve. It simplifies fulfillment, gives readers instant access, and supports unique reward links through BookFunnel libraries.

    Hey BFFs!

We’ve got a new integration to share with you, and we think our crowdfunding authors are going to love it.

Here’s what Bonkers Romance — best-selling authors with 2M+ copies sold and $2.6M+ crowdfunded — had to say:

“This collaboration is huge. We can’t emphasize how game-changing this is for authors – and it will really impact the reader experience. It was so easy to set up, and it has been seamless.”

We’ve teamed up with BackerKit – the only crowdfunding platform built for professional creators – to make delivering digital rewards to your backers the easiest part of running your campaign. The moment a backer pledges, follows, or reserves your campaign, their ebook, audiobook, or bonus content is waiting for them. No CSVs, manual emails, or “hey, did you get the link?” follow-ups.

We’re talking about automatic, instant delivery through BookFunnel.

Why We’re Excited About This Integration

If you’ve run a crowdfunding campaign before, you already know: the creative part is the fun part. Writing the book, designing the tiers, engaging with backers… that’s the stuff that lights you up. What doesn’t light you up? Spending hours after the campaign ends wrangling spreadsheets and sending out download links one by one.

This integration takes that work off your plate.

And because backers get their digital rewards right when they pledge, it gives them even more reason to back on day one. Instant gratification is a real motivator, especially for readers who already love your work and want to dive in right away.

Here’s some ideas on what you can do with the new integration:

    • Deliver ebooks, audiobooks, sample chapters, or bonus digital content the moment a backer pledges, reserves, or follows your campaign
    • Build your pre-launch audience by offering digital rewards
    • Offer exclusive editions, like e-signed copies, as a higher-tier perk
    • Unlock more digital rewards as your campaign hits new stretch goals
    • Stop stressing about fulfillment and focus on the campaign itself

Each backer gets a unique link tied to their pledge, so the right readers are getting the right rewards.

    What Backers See

From your backers’ side, it couldn’t be simpler:

    1. Digital rewards show up clearly marked “Instant Access” in the reward tier
    2. Right after they pledge, they’ll see a link to access their rewards
    3. One click, and they’re in their BookFunnel library ready to read or listen

Backers will be asked to create a free BookFunnel account to access their library, same as any other BookFunnel delivery.

    How to Set Up Integration

Here’s what you’ll need before you start:

    • A BookFunnel Best Seller or Publisher plan (API access is only available on these plans)
    • An active BackerKit crowdfunding project
    • Your BookFunnel API key

Note: API access isn’t self-serve. Reach out to [email protected] and we’ll get it enabled on your account. Once you have your key, connecting to BackerKit and adding books or media files to your reward tiers takes just a few minutes.

    See It In Action

Best-selling romance authors Katee Robert and Jenny Norbak of Bonkers Romance are already using the integration in their latest BackerKit campaign, The Bluebeard Chronicles. Backers who pledge get instant access to an early release of one of the six books in the collection, delivered automatically through BookFunnel.

Here’s what Katee had to say about the experience on a recent Backerkit webinar:

“It’s integrated with BookFunnel, so they just send them a link automatically. We don’t have to touch anything. Nobody’s had any problems… not a single question.”

That’s exactly what we want to hear.
