Desktop App For Windows V 4.8.1 - Miscellaneous Improvements
Egnyte releases Desktop App for Windows 4.8.1, fixing crashes and performance problems after network interruptions, first-launch sign-in errors, and excessive memory and disk usage when mapped drives go offline.
External Release Notes: Desktop App for Windows v 4.8.1 (October 30, 2026)
Issues Addressed
Desktop App Performance Issues and Crashes After Connection Interruptions
After upgrading to 4.7.0, some users experienced noticeable lag, slow folder listings, drive disconnections, and unexpected crashes when the Desktop App’s connection to Egnyte was interrupted and re-established.
The Desktop App now stays running and reconnects reliably after network interruptions.
"No Matching Domains for Email" Error on First Launch After a Fresh Install
Resolved an issue where a fresh install of the Desktop App, mainly in VDI environments, showed a No matching domains for email error on first launch until the app was restarted.
The Desktop App now signs in correctly on first launch after a fresh install.
High Memory and Disk Usage When Mapped Network Drives Are Interrupted
Desktop App was using excessive memory and writing log files at a very high rate on computers with mapped network drives (SMB shares). Affected computers slowed down, ran out of memory, or in some cases showed blue screens, until the Desktop App or the computer was restarted.
The Desktop App now keeps memory and disk usage normal when a mapped network drive becomes unavailable, and resumes working with the drive once it is reachable again.
Known Issues and Limitations
No new limitations have been discovered.
Please refer to this article for the list of known limitations.

Desktop App For Windows V 4.8.0 - Folder Move Confirmation (Limited Availability)
Egnyte releases Desktop App for Windows 4.8.0 with limited-availability folder move confirmations and Egnyte CLI, improved caching and file-lock behavior, and fixes for AI Assistant, file saving, version history, and stability.
External Release Notes: Egnyte Desktop App for Windows 4.8.0 (October 29, 2026)
New Features and Improvements
Folder Move Confirmation (Limited Availability)
Desktop App now asks users to confirm before a folder is moved in File Explorer. This helps prevent folders from being moved by accident, for example by an unintended drag and drop, and avoids the unwanted permission changes and file operations that can follow.
Note
- This feature is currently in Limited Availability for all customers. To request this feature, contact our Products team.
- Limitation: The folder move confirmation can also appear for, and block, folder moves started by other applications or custom scripts, not just those made in File Explorer. Egnyte is working on identifying the initiating application so that only user-initiated moves are confirmed. See the Folder move confirmation helpdesk article for details.
Egnyte CLI in Desktop App (Limited Availability)
Egnyte CLI is now available in Desktop App for Windows. The CLI lets AI tools such as Claude, Codex, and Cursor find, read, organize, and share your Egnyte files, using existing Desktop App sign-in and the permissions the user already has. It also uploads any file type and size, which the Egnyte MCP connector can.
Note
- This feature is currently in Limited Availability and will roll out to all customers in upcoming releases. To request this feature, contact our Products team.
- It does not work if the open-source Agentic CLI is already installed through npm. Uninstall the npm version first.
Offline Folders Configured in Desktop Configurations Now Keep Content Cached on Adaptive Block Caching Drives
While Offline Folders remain unavailable for Adaptive Block Caching (ABC) drives at this point, the behavior of folders set up for offline access in Desktop Configurations has been changed for them. Until now, these folders were downloaded, but could not have been used on ABC drives. Instead, they are now cached automatically: caching starts when Desktop App starts, and the folders are cached again every 4 hours, any changes to the folders will be cached as a result. This keeps the same folders in the cache on ABC drives. Drives that do not use ABC are not affected.
Note
This is not offline access. The files are ordinary cached content, so they are not available without a network connection.
Clearer Notice When a Drive Switches from ABC to Classic, With an Option to Switch Back
When a fallback occurs causing the drive to switch from ABC to Classic mode, Desktop App now explains what happened and that ABC returns automatically with the next DA version. Users who want ABC back sooner can turn it on again in the drive settings after confirming a warning that the drive may switch to Classic again.
File Locks Now Hold Until Changes Reach the Cloud for Offline Folders
When a file in an Offline Folder is edited through the Egnyte drive, the lock is now held until the new version has been confirmed in the cloud, rather than being released the moment the application closes the file. This closes the window in which another user could open and edit an outdated copy while an upload was still in progress, and reduces the number of conflict copies as a result. This extends the behavior introduced for online drives in the previous release.
Key Escalations and Issues Addressed
AI Assistant Not Working for Offline Files on Hybrid Connected Drives
AI Assistant did not work for files in offline folders on drives showing the Hybrid Connected status, which means the drive is served by a Smart Cache device. Ask a Document now works for these files.
Unexpected "File Changed" Messages After Saving
An application could report that a file had changed right after it was saved, even though nothing had changed. In some cases, choosing to reload the file after being prompted led to recent edits being lost. These messages no longer appear after saving files on the Egnyte drive.
AutoCAD Civil 3D Freezing When Saving Files
AutoCAD Civil 3D 2023 froze when saving a file to the Egnyte drive. The file was saved, but Desktop App had to be restarted. Saving Civil 3D files now completes normally.
Drives Missing After Signing in to a Linked Domain
After signing in to a linked domain using MEM-assisted authentication, the drives set up by the admin did not appear until Desktop App was restarted. The drives now appear right after sign-in, without a restart.
Files That Could Not Be Restored From Trash
Files deleted through Desktop App could not be restored from Trash because they still appeared as locked, even though no one had them open. These files can now be restored from Trash.
Missing Version History for StormCAD Files
Saving a file in Bentley StormCAD did not create a new version in Egnyte. Each save in StormCAD is now kept as a new version.
Improved Stability When Closing Desktop App
Several rare issues that could cause Desktop App to crash while it was closing have been fixed.
Known Issues and Limitations
No new limitations have been discovered. Please refer to this article for the list of known limitations.

Egnyte For Android App V 9.12 - AI Assistant Suggestion In Search In The Egnyte Android Mobile App
Egnyte releases Android app updates that suggest AI Assistant for relevant searches, enable multi-document signing in the app, and let users save captured photos and videos to their device library.
External Release Notes: Android Mobile App v 9.12 (October 28, 2026)
New Features and Improvements
AI Assistant Suggestion in Search
When a multi-word query is entered in the search bar of the listing view, the app now detects whether the query is better suited to the AI Assistant than to a file search. If so, an Ask Assistant suggestion is displayed. Selecting it opens the AI Assistant with the query pre-populated. Single-word queries are not evaluated, and if detection is unavailable, the search continues as usual. Users without access to the AI Assistant do not see the suggestion.
Multi-Document Signature Requests
Multi-document Egnyte Sign requests opened from an email link are now completed within the Android app instead of in a browser. The signing view presents the envelope’s documents in sequence with a progress indicator and supports: signature, initials, date, text, checkbox, and radio button fields. A single consent confirmation is shown per envelope.
Save Media Copy to Device Library
A new setting in the Android app can automatically save a copy of each photo or video captured with the in-app camera to the device’s media library. The copy is saved at the moment of capture, so the media remains on the device even if the upload fails or connectivity is lost. The setting applies to the camera launched from the Create or Upload button and covers both photos and videos. It does not apply to media selected from the gallery. The setting is off by default.

Egnyte IOS App For Intune V 9.12 - AI Assistant Suggestion In Search In IOS For Intune
Egnyte releases iOS app updates with AI Assistant suggestions in search, improved AutoCAD and Excel previews, and Mobile Device Entitlement support for managed Intune apps. The update also improves upload reliability and fixes repeated photo-access prompts.
Single-word queries are not evaluated, and if detection is unavailable the search continues as usual. Users without access to the AI Assistant do not see the suggestion.
Background Color Switch in AutoCAD File Preview
A new button in the preview of BIM files (DWG, DXF, DGN) allows users to switch the background color between light and dark. This makes it easier to view drawings with dark lines, which were difficult to read against the previous dark background. The preview component has also been updated to its latest version.
Excel Preview as a Continuous Canvas
Excel files now open in the preview as a single, continuous canvas instead of a paginated view. Users can scroll up, down, left, and right through the full sheet, and table rows and columns remain visually connected.
Upload Improvements
The upload framework has been updated to improve the reliability and maintainability of file uploads in the app. No change to the upload experience is expected.
Mobile Device Entitlement for Managed Apps
Egnyte for Intune now supports delivery of the Mobile Device Entitlement token through an Intune App Configuration Policy for Managed apps. The token is passed to the app through the Intune SDK when users enroll in Intune as part of the Egnyte for Intune login flow. This works on both managed and BYOD devices and does not require Company Portal or MDM enrollment. Because the policy delivers the token only to Egnyte for Intune, administrators can use Mobile Device Entitlement to allow Egnyte for Intune while restricting sign-in from the regular Egnyte iOS app, which does not receive the token.
Issues Addressed
Repeated Photo Access Prompt with Limited Photo Access
Users with Smart Upload enabled and Limited photo access granted to the app saw the system photo permission dialog on every app launch. The app no longer displays this dialog on launch. Smart Upload continues to process the photos the user has already granted access to, and users can change their photo selection in iOS Settings.

AI Assistant - Sensitive Content Masking With AI Safeguards
Egnyte adds AI Safeguards masking to remove sensitive content before files reach AI Assistant, Agents, and the MCP Server, while preserving answers from the rest of a document. The release also fixes editing for Marketplace-created agents and includes minor performance, security, stability, and UI improvements.
External Release Notes: AI Assistant (October 28, 2026)
New Features and Enhancements
Sensitive Content Masking with AI Safeguards
AI Safeguards policies now include a Mask option alongside Block. When a file matches the Content Classification policies selected in an AI Safeguards policy, Egnyte removes the matched content and replaces it with a label such as < SSN > before the file is sent to AI. Users still get answers from the rest of the document. Masking applies to built-in and custom classification policies, and across the AI Assistant, Agents, and the Egnyte MCP Server.
Note
This feature is available only to the customers on the Ultimate plan. Contact the Egnyte account manager or Egnyte Sales team for more information

Web UI - Enhancements For SSH Keys, SFTP Access To Specific Power Users With Custom Roles
Egnyte adds SSH key authentication and self-service key management for SFTP, with admin controls for access and custom roles. It also reorganizes billing into dedicated tabs and fixes issues with document settings, signature requests, and recipient links.
External Release Notes: Web UI (October 28, 2026)
New Features and Enhancements
SSH Key Based Authentication Support for SFTP
SFTP now supports SSH key authentication. Users add the public part of an SSH key in Egnyte and sign in with the matching private key, so no password has to be stored in scripts or shared. The private key stays on the user's computer and is never sent to Egnyte.
Option to Choose Sign in Method for SFTP Users
With SFTP enabled, administrators choose the sign-in method in Settings > Configuration > Applications, under SFTP Authentication Method: Password (Basic Auth) or SSH Key. From the same screen, administrators can also open View and manage domain SSH keys to see the keys in the domain.
Add and Delete SFTP SSH Keys
End-users with SFTP access can now manage their own keys in Settings > My Profile > My SFTP SSH Keys. The page lists each Key's name, Type, Fingerprint, and Creation date. Users can Create new keys and delete the existing keys.
Manage Keys as an Administrator
Administrators can now view and manage every SSH key in the domain, including keys created by users and keys created for service accounts, in the SSH Key Management window. They can add new keys or revoke the existing keys. A service account is an Egnyte account used by an application instead of a person, so it can not use the web UI to manage its own keys. Administrators can add and revoke those keys for it.
Grant SFTP Access to Specific Power Users with Custom Roles
Administrators can now grant SFTP access to selected Power Users through custom roles, rather than enabling it for all Power Users or none. This provides finer control over who can transfer files via SFTP and keeps access limited to the users who need it.
Account Management in Dedicated Tabs
Egnyte now offers dedicated tabs for managing Billing accounts, making it easier for users to handle payment and company information. Billing account management has moved out of the Current Plan page and into three new tabs under Settings > Subscription: Current Plan, Payment Methods, Company Details, and Invoices. This makes navigation simpler, as users can go directly to the relevant tab instead of scrolling through sections on the plan page.
- Payment Methods: users can view saved cards, add a new card, change the default card, or remove one.
- Company Details: holds the company information, invoice email recipients (multiple recipients are supported), and shipping address.
- Invoices: provides a sortable list of invoices with status, preview, and download options, and invoice-based customers can also make a one-time card payment directly from this tab or choose to turn on recurring billing.
- Current Plan: continues to display the subscription and plan details.
Issues Addressed
Saving Settings in Controlled Documents Portal in Initial Attempt
Saving category settings in the Controlled Documents portal, such as updating the root folder or import options in the initial attempt settings did not always apply on the first save and had to be re-entered.
Error in Sending Signature Request on a Document
The customer was encountering a technical error when trying to send a signature request on a specific document.
Accessibility to 3rd Party Recipient Links Feature
3rd-Party Recipient Links feature was not available for some GxP Plans due to an error which has since been resolved.
Additional Information and Resources

Secure & Govern V 27.4 - Unusual Access Detection For Copy And Move, Upload Date For Content Lifecycle Policies
Egnyte releases new security and governance capabilities, including unusual access detection for file copy and move activity through the Windows Desktop App and upload-date triggers for Content Lifecycle Policies, along with performance, stability, and usability improvements.
External Release Notes: Secure & Govern v 27.4 (October 28, 2026)
New Features and Enhancements
Unusual Access Detection for Copy and Move Activity via Desktop App
Unusual Access can now detect abnormal copy and move activity. When a user copies or moves files between an Egnyte drive and a local, external, or network drive using the Desktop App on Windows, Egnyte compares that activity to the user's normal behavior. If the volume or pattern is unusual, Egnyte creates an Issue so admins can investigate possible data exfiltration or other risky file movement.
Note
- This feature is available to customers on the Enterprise Lite, Enterprise, Elite, and Ultimate plans. Contact your Egnyte account manager or the Sales team for more information.
- This feature requires Desktop App Win v4.3.0+ and is available on Windows only.
Upload Date for Content Lifecycle Policies
Content Lifecycle Policies can now be triggered by upload date, alongside creation date, last access date, and metadata-based dates. When the upload date is selected, content lifecycle policies trigger based on when the file was uploaded into Egnyte.
Additional Information and Resources
The current release contains a few improvements to the existing functionality.

Account Management - Dedicated Tabs
Egnyte moves billing management into dedicated subscription tabs for payment methods, company details, and invoices. Invoice customers can also enable recurring card billing or pay an open invoice by card, with rollout beginning October 27, 2026.
External Release Notes: Account Management (October 27, 2026)
New Features and Improvements
Account Management Dedicated Tabs
Egnyte has moved billing Account Management out of the Current Plan page into dedicated tabs under Settings > Subscription. Payment methods, company billing information, and invoices each now have their own page, making billing details easier to find and manage without scrolling through plan information. These tabs are available to direct customers on an active paid subscription, for both card and invoice payment types. Customers who do not yet see these tabs will continue to manage billing details from the Current Plan page.
Current Plan
Current Plan continues to show the subscription and plan details. Billing account management is no longer handled here and is available in the individual tabs.
Payment Methods
Admins can view saved cards, add a new payment method, change the default card, and delete cards that are no longer needed. A card can optionally be set as the default for future charges.
When a new payment method is added and set as default, Egnyte also updates the shipping details shown on the Company Details page. This update applies to future transactions.
Company Details
Admins can manage general company information, add and remove invoice email recipients, and edit the shipping address. Multiple invoice email addresses are supported.
Invoices
Invoices provides a sortable list of billing statements with their status. Select the three-dot menu next to an invoice to preview or download it.
Recurring Billing and One-Time Payments for Invoice Customers
Customers billed by invoice can now set up recurring billing against a card on file or pay a single open invoice by card without saving it.
- Turn on Recurring Billing - Navigate to Settings > Subscription > Payment Methods and select Turn on Recurring Billing. Enter the card and billing details, select Continue to Review, then select Subscribe.
Once recurring billing is enabled, any outstanding invoices are processed immediately, and future invoices are processed automatically on the date they are issued. Contact an account manager or the Egnyte Sales team to disable recurring billing.
Known Limitations
Accounts purchased through a VAR or MSP partner continue to use the existing experience; for billing questions, contact the partner directly.

Desktop App Core For Mac V1.22.0 - Golden Gate Support, Skips And Locks Improvements
Egnyte releases Desktop App Core for Mac 1.22.0 with macOS Golden Gate compatibility, safer file version uploads through temporary locking, one-click fixes for skipped files and folders, and home screen shortcuts that respect configured Cloud Start Paths.
External Release Notes: Desktop App Core for Mac v 1.22.0 (October 23, 2026)
New Features and Enhancements
Support for MacOS 27 Golden Gate
With this release, we are happy to announce full compatibility of Desktop App Core with MacOS Golden Gate.
File Lock During Version Upload
Previously, when a user uploaded a new version of an existing file, no lock protected the file for the duration of the upload, another user could open and edit the outdated cloud version in that window, producing conflicts. The Desktop App now applies a lock while a version upload is in progress and releases it once the new version is confirmed in the cloud.
One-Click Fix for Skipped Files
The Skipped Items view now presents a single solution button for unsupported characters and name too long skips that resolves the problem in one click and automatically retries the sync. This applies to both files and folders.
Home Screen Shared Folder Shortcut Respects CSP Configuration
For drives with a Cloud Start Path (CSP) configured, the home screen previously showed the standard Shared/Private folder shortcut, which could point outside the user’s configured scope. The Shared/Private shortcut is now replaced with a shortcut to the CSP-configured path.
Known Issues and Limitations
No new limitations have been discovered.
Please refer to this article for the list of known limitations.

AI Assistant - AI Control Center, Model List Upgrade, And AI Safeguards Policy Audit Report
Egnyte releases new AI security and governance capabilities, including a Control Center for identifying and fixing risky agents, expanded AI model choices, and an audit report that tracks AI Safeguards policy changes. The update also includes usability, performance, security, stability, and bug fixes.
External Release Notes: AI Assistant (October 21, 2026)
New Features and Enhancements
Egnyte AI Control Center
The new AI Control Center surfaces agents that interact with content in a less secure manner, such as having an overly broad scope or reaching sensitive content, and lets admins fix them all in one place. Each agent with an open issue gets a High, Medium, or Low risk level and a reason, such as Unrestricted access, Access to sensitive content, or a Tool set to run without asking first. The list is filtered to agents that need attention and sorted by risk, and you can open any agent to see the details.
Each issue comes with a recommended action admins can perform such as re-scoping the agent to selected folders, creating an AI Safeguard policy for the content it reaches, or changing tool permissions to always ask.
Note
This feature is available to customers on the Ultimate plan. Contact the account manager or Egnyte Sales team for more information.
Model List Upgrade
Egnyte now supports Sonnet 5.5 (default), GPT 6.1, and Gemini 3.8 Flash models, providing users with greater flexibility to choose the AI model that best suits their requirements.
AI Safeguards Policy Audit Report
Admins can now see a record of changes made to AI Safeguards policies. The new Policy Settings report, found under Reports > Audit > AI Safeguards, logs when a policy is Created, Modified, Deleted, or Reordered, including who made the change and when. For modified policies, the report also shows the old and new criteria. Admins can filter the report by Date range, Policy, User, and Action.
This gives compliance and security teams an audit trail of AI access control changes and helps admins investigate unexpected policy changes.

Web UI - Redesigned Links Dashboard, Update Multiple Metadata Attributes, And Bulk Extraction
Egnyte improves shared-link management, streamlines multi-document tagging, and makes Bulk Extraction generally available to eligible Ultimate Plan customers. The release also adds password policy controls, job-creator filtering, and a fix for a Desktop App search issue.
New Features and Enhancements
Redesigned Links Dashboard with Improved Links Management
Egnyte has redesigned Links Dashboard providing improved visibility and control over shared and upload links. It also has Additional link attributes, Configurable columns, Column-level filters, Enhanced search and Sorting. Lastly the dashboard contains Expanded export options to make it easier to find links, review link activity, and manage link settings.
The details panel also inline updates to Expiry dates and Notify on Access settings where applicable. File Share links also support quick access to file contents.
Multi-Document Tagging - Update Multiple Metadata Attributes in a Single Flow
Egnyte now offers an Apply and Update Another option in the Multi-Document Tagging dialog. After applying a metadata tag change, users can start another tagging action for the selected files without closing the dialog. This simplifies consecutive metadata updates by allowing multiple attributes to be added, replaced, or cleared in a single workflow.
Bulk Extraction - Automatically Extract and Apply Tags Across Files (Generally Availability)
Bulk Extraction enables organizations to automatically extract and apply tags across large volumes of files within selected folders. Bulk Extraction processes existing as well as newly uploaded files, transforming unstructured files into structured, searchable data while reducing the need for manual tagging.
Note
- The feature was previously released as Limited Availability and now it is being made Generally Available to all the customers on Ultimate Plan. Contact your account manager or Egnyte Sales team for more information.
- The feature will be gradually rolled out to the eligible customers and will be made available by the end of November 2026.
Enhanced Password Controls
Egnyte has introduced new password policy options to help organizations meet stricter security and compliance requirements.
- Enforce character variety: This is a new toggle, when enabled, requires passwords to contain at least one character from each of the following four categories: uppercase letters (A–Z), lowercase letters (a–z), digits (0–9), and special characters (e.g. !, @, #, $). This applies when users create or update their password.
- Enforce minimum password lifetime (1 day): This is a new toggle that prevents users from changing their password more than once per day. This helps prevent users from rapidly cycling through passwords to circumvent password history controls.
Note
Admin-initiated resets and first-login forced resets are exempt from this restriction.
- Extended minimum password length: Admins can now set the minimum password length to a maximum of 16 characters. Previously, the maximum possible value was 12.
- Extended password history: Admins can now prevent users from reusing their last 24 passwords, increased from the previous limit of 10.
Created By Filter for Bulk Extraction Jobs
Bulk extraction jobs can now be filtered by the user who created them using the Created by filter.
Issues Addressed
Desktop App’s Search UI Issue
An issue in Desktop App's Search UI was encountered where applying an additional filter caused the initial folder scope to reset, resulting in a domain-wide search.
Additional Information and Resources
The current release contains a few improvements to existing functionality.
- Minor UI Improvements
- Minor performance, security, and stability improvements
- Minor bug fixes

Microsoft SharePoint Embedded (SPE) Co-Editing Integration - Choose Data Geo-Location
Egnyte adds Microsoft SharePoint Embedded co-editing container location controls, allowing administrators to choose a Microsoft 365 region for data residency when setting up the integration, subject to Multi-Geo availability.
External Release Notes: Microsoft SharePoint Embedded Co-Editing Integration (October 21, 2026)
New Features and Enhancements
Choose the Data Location for the SharePoint Embedded Container
Administrators can now choose the Microsoft 365 geographic location in which the SharePoint Embedded container is created when setting up the Microsoft Office Desktop and Online (SPE) Co-Editing integration.
Previously, the container was always created in the Microsoft 365 tenant's default location. Organizations with data residency requirements can now keep co-edited documents in the region that meets their compliance obligations such as an EMEA Egnyte domain can place its container in the European Union even when the Microsoft tenant's default location is the United States.
Note
Selecting a location other than the tenant default requires the Microsoft 365 Multi-Geo add-on to be enabled on the tenant for that location. If Multi-Geo is not enabled, the Container location option is not shown and the container is created in the tenant's default location. The location cannot be changed after the container is created; to use a different location admins must reset the configuration, which creates a new container.

AI Assistant - Tool Access Controls In Egnyte MCP Server And Configuration Agent Updates
Egnyte adds admin controls for the tools users can access through connected AI apps and expands Configuration Agent support to alerts, issues, and permission reviews, alongside minor usability, performance, security, and stability improvements.
External Release Notes: AI Assistant (October 14, 2026)
New Features and Enhancements
Egnyte MCP Server - Tool Access Controls
Egnyte Admins can now control which Egnyte tools each user's AI app can use. When any user connects Claude, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot to Egnyte through the MCP Server, the admin can now decide per user or user group which tools are available.
This lets organizations tailor tool access to users' roles and requirements, giving users access to the capabilities they need while limiting access to others. When a tool is switched off for a user or group, it disappears from their connected AI app, and Egnyte rejects any requests to use it.
Note
- Tool access control is available on Next Gen Essential, Elite, and Ultimate plans and legacy Platform Plans with AI Add on. Contact the Egnyte account manager or Egnyte Sales team for more information.
- Tool access controls which tools are available. It does not change Egnyte permissions. Every tool continues to respect the user's folder permissions and domain's link sharing settings.
- Only administrators can view and change Tool access settings.
- Administrators always have access to every tool irrespective of the settings.
Configuration Agent - Additional Scopes
The Configuration Agent now supports Alert, Issue and Permission Review configurations, expanding the functional coverage to those areas of the Product. Examples of prompts for these areas are:
- Help me create an alert for public links with a High severity
- Please create an auto-remediation rule for all external sharing Issues for files that have sensitive content
Additional Information and Resources
The current release contains a few improvements to existing functionality.
- Minor UI Improvements
- Minor performance, security, and stability improvements
- Minor bug fixes
These changes will be available to all users by October 14, 2026.

Web UI - Email Capture And Recommendations On Egnyte
Egnyte adds Outlook email capture to project folders and personalized, role-based feature recommendations in its web interface, alongside fixes for group ownership, AD Kit user syncing, and upload-link logos. Availability varies by plan and rollout.
New Features and Enhancements
Email Capture
Users can now save Outlook emails and attachments as .eml files into Egnyte project folders, either manually with the Egnyte Outlook Add-in (including thread filing) or automatically through folder syncs.
Admins can configure automated syncs for shared mailboxes, and end users can sync their personal mailboxes.
Filed emails are searchable and able to be previewed alongside project documents, and they automatically inherit a dedicated metadata set.
Note
- Email Capture requires Egnyte for M365 in Outlook, Microsoft Exchange/365, and is available in all Next Gen Plans (Essentials, Elite & Ultimate) with Egnyte Secure & Govern. Contact the Egnyte account manager or Egnyte Sales team for more information.
- For complete list of prerequisites and configuration steps refer to this article.
Recommendations on Egnyte
Egnyte now offers personalized, machine learning-powered feature recommendations based on users’ roles and usage patterns. Available directly within the Egnyte Web UI, Recommendations helps users discover relevant features they may not have explored yet, with options to learn more about a feature or dismiss suggestions they don't need. This makes it easier for users to discover capabilities that can improve how they work in Egnyte.
Note
- Recommendations will be available to the domains on the Ultimate plan and the roll out will be completed by the end of October, 2026.
- Suggestions are tailored to each user based on their usage patterns and role.
- Admins and Power Users may receive different recommendations, based on their access to features in the platform. Standard Users do not see Recommendations.
- Suggestions are shown only for features that are available on a Power User’s current plan.
- Admins may receive suggestions to enable Integrations or plan upgrades that could offer further value to their users.
Issues Addressed
Public API to Add Users as Group Owners
There was an issue with the Public API that prevented users without group management privileges from being added as group owners. However, the same operation was functional through WebUI.
Error in Syncing New Users Through AD Kit
Newly created users were not syncing to Egnyte through AD Kit. The new user creation failed with an error message whereas updates to existing users and group synchronization were working as expected.
Grainy Logo on Upload Link Page
The customer's custom logo appeared grainy and blurry on the Upload Link page, while displaying clearly on the login page.
Additional Information and Resources
The current release contains a few improvements to existing functionality.
- Minor UI Improvements
- Minor performance, security, and stability improvements
- Minor bug fixes
These changes will be available to all users by October 14, 2026.
