[0.7.0] - 2026-09-17

Added

Persisted note changes now schedule account-scoped background synchronization through WorkManager, with network constraints and backoff for retryable failures.

Notes deleted remotely while local changes are pending can now be recreated without losing their local identity or explicitly discarded.

Local changes to a note that becomes read-only can now be preserved as a new writable note before adopting the server version.

Settings now provides a durable, bounded synchronization diagnostic report with app and device information. Reports omit exception messages and account, server, and note identifiers, remain available after process restarts, and are copied only through an explicit user action.

Conflicts now retain the exact server version for offline review alongside the local version and their common base. Independent title, content, category, and favorite changes can be merged automatically; overlapping changes remain unresolved for an explicit choice.

Large-note editing now prioritizes responsive, exact text entry: source highlighting is omitted above 64 KiB, while formatting, Find, undo/redo, and persistence remain available.

Fixed

Note-list items no longer shift horizontally when swipe actions are disabled.

Late synchronization failures and successful updates can no longer replace a newer local edit or undo deletion intent.

Conflict actions are bound to the server version shown in the review and are rejected if a newer pull refreshes that version before the action completes.

Database startup now recovers safely from the earlier Phase 4 version-6 conflict snapshot layout.

Completed pulls preserve local edits when the server note disappears or becomes read-only and expose an explicit recovery action instead of offering a retry that cannot succeed.

Files returned by the Nextcloud Notes API from QOwnNotes' top-level attachments/ and media/ trees no longer appear as notes (for #7).

Large Markdown notes no longer lay out the editor as a document-height Android view. The bounded editor uses a cheaper text layout and drawing path while retaining inertial swipe and rail scrolling.

Conflict and synchronization errors remain visible while the note body scrolls.

Relative attachments/ and media/ links in note previews can now download the linked file through the authenticated Nextcloud Notes API and open it in an installed Android app.

Find in note now also searches the Markdown source while editing, highlights every match, and moves through matches without changing the note.

Fixed

Large Nextcloud accounts now prune stale local notes without exceeding older Android SQLite bind-variable limits, and malformed capabilities envelopes are reported as protocol errors (for #6).

Malformed Nextcloud update responses can no longer replace a local note's remote identity.

Fixed

Adding a Nextcloud account no longer crashes when the Nextcloud SSO response is empty or the OCS capabilities envelope is malformed. The app now reports a clear protocol error instead.

Note list and search queries now load only a lightweight note summary, avoiding the SQLiteBlobTooBigException that could occur when a single note's content exceeded the Android CursorWindow limit while reading many rows.

Added a note-search filter for switching between title-and-content search and title-only search.

Added account management from the profile menu. It lists connected accounts, updates each account's shared Nextcloud Notes folder and new-file extension through the Notes API, and removes an account's local data without deleting its server notes or Nextcloud Files account.

Added note-list swipe actions with visual markers: swipe right to toggle a note's favorite state and left to move it to trash. The gestures are enabled by default, and the new Settings dialog controls them and the existing note preview and category display preferences.

The note-list top bar now places search between the account profile image and an overflow menu.

The profile menu contains only account actions; note creation, category filtering, trash, settings, and About are in the overflow menu. Search is more compact, and synchronization status remains visible while the note list scrolls. Focused search expands across the whole top bar and gains a back action that returns to the account and note actions while keeping the typed query.

Account entries in the switch-account dialog now have clearer spacing around their profile images.

The rename-note dialog now selects the current file name when opened, so typing replaces it.

Web addresses written without Markdown link markers are now detected in note previews and the Markdown editor.

Routine development builds and deployments now use Android's local debug key without requiring Vaultwarden access; explicit shared-key development recipes remain available.

Added

Conflicted notes can now load the current server version or preserve their local changes as a new note before loading the server version. Resolution fetches the note directly, so an unavailable server leaves the local conflict untouched.

A per-account category selector filters the note list locally and offline. It defaults to Undefined, also offers All categories, remembers the selection, creates notes in the selected category, and hides QOwnNotes' internal media and attachments folder trees.

Notes can be moved to the root, an existing category, or a new nested category from the note view's Change category menu action. Moves are saved offline and synchronized safely.

Note edits are now checkpointed to local storage every five seconds during continuous typing, so an app crash cannot lose an indefinitely long in-memory editing session.

An About menu item in the note list account menu shows the version number and short git commit hash. Both values link to the project's GitHub releases and commit page respectively.

Renaming a note can optionally update the first Markdown heading to match the new file name. The rename dialog includes an Update heading 1 checkbox that is enabled by default. The whole checkbox row is tappable, so the label is part of the target and screen readers announce one checked option instead of a box beside unrelated text.

Supplemental Markdown source highlighting now parses off the main thread and discards stale results, preventing whole-document regular-expression scans from blocking typing in large notes.

Markdown images in the source editor are now highlighted as images rather than generic links.

Remote images now load automatically in the note view. Local media images from Nextcloud notes are displayed using the Notes API attachment endpoint with SSO authentication. A Load images toggle in the note menu allows disabling image loading per note.

Fixed

Older asynchronous editor saves can no longer replace a newer draft after that newer draft has finished saving. Losing editor focus also checkpoints the current text locally.

Opening and closing the editor without changing the note no longer leaves it pending or causes an unnecessary server update. The temporary edit reservation remains revision-guarded.

The onscreen keyboard now closes reliably when leaving Markdown edit mode.

Leaving edit mode no longer crashes. Editing is left after a note has been saved, and a coroutine resumes on whichever thread completed that save, so the keyboard and focus changes could reach the editor from a database thread and be rejected by the view hierarchy.

Text shared from another application is now reliably opened after it becomes a note. Accepting the share cleared the state the accepting effect was keyed on, so the effect could be cancelled between writing the note and opening it, leaving the note in the list without showing it.

Local media/ images in Nextcloud notes now use the versioned Notes attachment endpoint instead of failing to load as red placeholders.

Checkboxes in nested task lists can now be toggled in view mode; previously only top-level checkboxes responded to taps because the tap target was measured from the outermost list margin instead of the checkbox's actual position.
