Introducing Custom Activity on the Map

Roam already shows when you’re coding with Claude, listening to Spotify, or in an external video meeting. Now, with our new External Activity API, you can bring custom activity to the Map. Show an emoji on your sales team’s private offices when they’re on a sales call, surface live activity from internal tools, or make offices glow or automatically set DND based on activity in other apps.

Desktop App

• Meeting Rooms are now called Video Rooms and Team Rooms are now called Audio Rooms.
• Auto-DND for Google Meet is now supported on Windows when you use the Google Meet Progressive Web App.

Introducing Seamless Device Switching in Meetings

• You can now seamlessly switch devices, such as from a laptop to a phone or vice versa, without leaving your current meeting. On the device you’d like to switch to, go to the Overworld and click or tap “Switch” to continue the meeting on that device.

Lobby

• You can now configure Drop-in to work outside your available hours, allowing visitors to drop in anytime you’re alone in your private office and not in DND mode. Enable in Lobby Details > General > Drop-Ins Outside Available Hours.
• Drop in activity now posts when Post in a Chat Group is configured in Lobby Details > Advanced.

Desktop App

• Support for seamless device switching in meetings.

Lobby Notifications in Chat Groups

• You can now set any Lobby to automatically post a message in a selected Roam Chat Group whenever a meeting is booked, rescheduled, or canceled.
• This brings real-time Lobby activity seamlessly into the AInbox, so your team can easily follow and manage booking updates.
• Go to Lobby Details > Advanced > Post in Chat Group, then choose the Chat Group where you’d like updates to appear.

Desktop App

• Screen Share > Select Area now remembers your previous crop selection, so you can quickly share the same area again.
• Fixed an issue where screen share controls were inaccessible in certain conditions on Windows 10.
• Fixed a Lobby bug that prevented you from adding buffer time both before and after the event.

Introducing Cursor on the Map

• If you use Cursor’s AI coding agent and have been feeling left out of Claude, Codex, and Pi on the Map, your time has come! When someone on your team is using Cursor, watch their office light up as Cursor cooks up their code in real time.
• Cursor activity on the map is currently available only on Mac and Linux. Roam has not yet added Windows support.

Introducing Floor Access Controls

• Admins can now grant access to specific floors by user group, making it easier to run multiple organizations within a single Roam, or to support compliance and privacy requirements.
• Floor access can be configured in Settings > Roam Administration > Floor Access.
• When access is configured for a floor, admins and members within a user group with access will see the floor on the elevator mini map which will show a lock icon. The floor is hidden from guests and members without access.
• Guests and other members can still join a meeting on the floor through a direct invitation or meeting link. However, they cannot move to other rooms on the floor and will no longer have access after they leave.

Desktop App

• Meeting invitees added to a calendar event through Google Groups or Outlook Distribution Lists now appear in the invitee list as expected, with current support for up to 100 people per list.
  • To enable this update for Outlook 365, an admin must unlink and relink the integration.
• Screenshots can be taken via keyboard shortcut and saved to a selected folder: Command+Shift+P (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows & Linux). The keyboard shortcut can be customized in Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts > Save Screenshot of Shared Screen.
• You can now add a Google Tracking ID on lobby booking pages to track visits and bookings for a Lobby link in Lobby Details > Advanced > Google Tracking ID.

Your Lobby Is Now Agent-Friendly

• AI agents are increasingly becoming the new scheduling interface, booking meetings on your behalf and coordinating directly with other agents. Now your Lobby booking page includes a discoverable public API endpoint that enables agents to schedule Roam meetings using your real-time calendar availability.

Introducing Next-Generation Virtual Backgrounds & Blur

• Roam now includes a new virtual background and background blur pipeline powered by the latest advancements in video machine learning models. The new system delivers higher-quality blur and virtual backgrounds while improving CPU efficiency and overall performance.
• The feature is enabled by default on supported versions of macOS and Windows. You can manage it in Settings > Advanced under Virtual Background, Blur & Face Touch Up, where you can choose between Enhanced Native Pipeline for the highest quality and Enhanced Native Pipeline (Balanced) for a lighter-performance option.

Desktop App

• You can now open screenshares, whiteboards, and media boards in their own windows. For screenshares, click View Options > Open in New Window. For whiteboards and media boards in offices, click the pop-out arrow in the top-right corner of the window. This makes it easier to move content to another monitor or keep it visible while working elsewhere in Roam.
• Updated Auto-DND for Zoom to support the latest version of the Zoom app (v7.1.0).

Desktop App

• You can now choose to play Roam sounds (e.g., chat notifications, knocks, and invites) through a separate audio output when you’re not in a meeting. For example, if you use a headset during meetings but remove it afterward, you can route notification sounds to your speakers so you don’t miss them. Configure in Settings > Sounds > Play Roam Sounds Through.
• You can now adjust the volume of Roamoji sounds in Settings > Sounds > Roamoji Volume.

• When creating an event in Apple’s Calendar app, you can now set the meeting location to Roam to automatically add a Roam meeting link.

Connect Roam to Claude & ChatGPT

• You can now connect Roam to Claude and ChatGPT to chat with the full context of your Roam meetings and conversations. Ask questions, prepare for meetings, synthesize decisions, uncover patterns, and get answers powered by your organization’s knowledge in Roam.
• Previously available only to developers, this integration is now available to everyone. Connect Roam’s MCP server to your favorite AI assistant in about a minute and unlock a new way of working.

Desktop App

• Improved the Next Generation Virtual Background & Blur beta with enhanced detection of headphones and handheld objects.
• You can now right-click a person in a room on the map to start a chat with everyone in that room.
• Guests can enable captions in Settings > Closed Captions.
